About Nauvoo Historic District

Nauvoo Historic District is a captivating destination that offers visitors a glimpse into the past, particularly the early history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The area is rich in history, showcasing where Joseph Smith received key revelations and where community members once thrived through various trades. Guests can enjoy a clean, interactive experience with numerous activities and tours available for free. The district features a range of attractions, including a gunsmith, tin shop, printing press, and a family living center, where visitors can engage in hands-on activities like candle making, rope making, and barrel making. Families can also participate in wagon rides and enjoy live performances from talented singing groups, creating a fun atmosphere reminiscent of a theme park. Overall, Nauvoo Historic District is a wonderful place to learn about history, with enough to see and do that many guests wish to return for multiple visits.

Historic Nauvoo is a national treasure. The sites have been beautifully restored and maintained and tell a chapter of American religious history that is critical for future generations to learn if such offenses against religious freedom are to avoid repetition.

All Tours were free and the Church who manages this historic town is doing fantastic. The workers or missionaries were super nice and there were Spanish translators. Would highly recommend to visit if your into history of native people or religions in the united states.

Went to browning twice. I wish the volunteers knew more details. Loved holiness to the lord. Our preservation! The lord has said, you shall defend your families even unto blood shed.
