Let me preface by saying my operator at Jenni's really did good work. My review is not pertaining to the quality of the services I received.
I've been going to Jenni's for a little over a year now on the advice of my sister-in law, and during that time the prices have gradually increased until they are now verging on laughable. My bill for a colour and trim was $178 this evening. As a comparison, I got my hair coloured and cut in Mid-town Manhattan at a very nice salon right before the Covid lockdowns. My bill was $160 plus tip, which I always provide. I am originally from San Diego and my bill for the same services there was never more than $140...and I went to a nice salon, not some cheap Super Cuts.
When I started going to Jenni's the bill was $138 at first. After a few appointments the bill crept up to $158 or $159, I can't recall precisely which. Tonight the bill was $178. These prices are higher than Chicago and New York. This is Central Illinois...
I had made an appointment for later in August but the more I thought about it the angrier I grew. I can't shake the feeling that the bill was being padded by having the operator use unnecessary products. I cancelled the appointment about 10 minutes ago and will return to my previous operator who charges only $98 for the exact same services...and does a wonderful job.
As I stated above, Jenni's provides good services but their pricing is out of control. ...absolutely out of control. If the salon doesn't change their business model I don't foresee them lasting very long here, unfortunately.

I went in for a consult and I made an appointment 3 months in advance for a TRIM, color, bangs, face framing and long layers and eye brows too. When I GOT THERE they told me they raised their prices and the girl I had told me that it would take 4 or 5 color appointments to get what I wanted. I cried before she even started. I wait 3 months for no color. I am so mad. She wasted my time and hers. She did not tell me during my consultation that it would take 4 or 5 appointments either. I’m already red and I just wanted a different shade of red. She wanted me to do all of those appointments at about 230 dollars per appointment. So I said no to color. It took her 3 hours to cut off half of my hair after I told her to just trim it, I didn’t get bangs bc I didn’t trust her and she attempted a blow out, it was literally just straight. She also waited until she was completely done with my hair to do my eyebrows and I told her I had to go back to work after. I showed up with my eyebrows all red. Not to mention my head is sore after that appointment bc she was yanking on it so hard. I will never again go back. Worst experience I’ve ever had.

I went to Jenni’s for 6+ years before Covid and had a great couple of stylists. After that I never really built a relationship with a new stylist. Well I decided to try again and set up an appointment for a wash and cut for 2:00 knowing that I had to get my son to a Dr appointment at 3:30. An hour would be plenty of time. I have thick hair and my stylists allow for an hour. Well the week prior, I got a call asking to move my appointment to 2:30 because the person ahead of me would take longer, I said that wouldn’t work because of my son’s appointment, so we compromised on 2:15. The day of I get a call asking again to move it to 2:30. Again, no. They said they would let the stylist know. Well, I arrived at 2:15 figuring I would wait 5 minutes. Checked in and wait. And wait. And wait. 2:27 rolls around and it’s obvious that my time and request wasn’t going to be respected. So I cancelled and will not be going back. As a mom of 2 young kids I don’t have time to waist and rarely get time to myself.
The two stars are only because of the 6+ years I had with my previous stylist.

I went to Jenni's for the first time at 9a last Friday. I made the appointment over 2 weeks ago for a trim and partial highlights with color. I knew right from the start the stylist was inexperienced in dealing with long hair. She also told me that she doesn't do partial highlights only a full set of highlights. I said well then if you're going to charge me for full highlights I want more highlights for what you're charging me for. She struggled with foiling my hair. I literally had bleach on my hair for over an hour and half. Throughout the 3 hours I was there, she constantly complained about having to use more product, and that she didn't have time to do my hair. She kept informing me that I will have to pay more than just the highlights. When she finally realized she needed help, she and another stylist applied the color. Now the other stylist was gentle and professional. This woman was rough. She tugged and pulled on my hair throught the whole visit. Once the color was finally in she hesitated on even wanting to blow dry it much less cut it. She told me I had to make another appointment to have it cut because she didn't have time to do my hair. I felt she was struggling to breath and move around due to her morbid obesity. She struggled just keeping her arms up. That's probably why it took her over an hour and half to do 24 foils. I have had this same cut and highlight job done with other stylist who managed to do the job in a timely fashion without struggling. Long story short, I could only do half of the blow drying because she continued to pull and tug on my hair. The mistreatment was terrible. I waited 3 days to wash it so the RED color would really stick but noticed the color had washed out to a orange color. Only after 1 wash. I use the color treated shampoo and conditioner from the salon so NO, the shampoo and conditioner were NOT the issue. I tried calling Jenni's this morning but no one answered. The facility is beautiful but looks can be deceiving. Especially when you get horrible service.

I came here for the first time. I have long thick hair. I made my appointment for highlights with color and a trim. I only wanted a partial highlight but she stated I'm still going to charge you for a full highlight. So I told her in that case I want more highlight for the full price of the highlights you're going to charge me for. She said I really don't have time to do your hair. The appointment was made correctly but I felt she was very inexperienced dealing with long hair. As she did my hair she continued to complain about how she had to use more product and really didn't have time to do my hair. She was very rough with me tugging and pulling. She would constantly tell me it was going to cost more to do my hair. She then told me after my hair was colored that she didn't have time to cut it. That I'll have to make another appointment to have it cut. Then she hesitated in wanting to at least blow dry it. She had to have help but by that time my head was so sore from all the pulling that I couldn't take the mistreatment anymore. I got up and paid the bill. No tip of course because of the mistreatment.

On 11/11/23 , my daughter and I had facials done by Ashley. Our issue was not with her ( my rating is based on the customer service aspect) I am referring to the 2 young dark haired receptionists. ( I regret not asking for their names). I had been given 2 -$50 dollar gifts cards which I used at this appt. My daughter had lost her actual physical gift card that she had obtained in July 2023, but when calling Jenni's , she was given the number of the gift card over the phone and told by the employee , it was "in the system" Upon checking out , both receptionists , at different times, said there was NO such $50 gift card in the system. I disagreed but didn't have more details as my daughter was in her appt with Ashley. I left, then returned with the actual gift card number ( given over the phone to my daughter by an Jenni's employee) and was still told, no such gift card existed. I've purchased many gift cards at this business over the years, but after this experience, I will never be back nor recommend this salon/spa

I got my haircut today, from a young hairstylist. I didn’t request a master stylist, but read good reviews, so thought I’d give it a try. The girl did a great job washing and conditioning my hair and even gave me a little massage on my head while working in the conditioner, which was so nice! Unfortunately for me that’s where my 5 stars end and my 3 stars begin. I have very thick hair that is a combo of wavy and curly. I asked for thick layers to really get into my hair. The girl cut like 0.5-1.0” at a time, and was constantly fluffing my hair to see how the my hair was laying. Once she was done, I grabbed the back of my hair and said it still felt thick and not really layered. I noted I didn’t want superficial layers I wanted deep layers. Then she gets the shears out and thins my hair, which isn’t really what I wanted but I went with it because my end result was for my hair to be lighter. Then she had to drum my baseline hair again because it was too thin. My hair is shorter than I’d have wanted, but after constant assessment of my hair and having the stylist do as I ask, I feel the end result is just ok. I felt she wasn’t confident in cutting my hair, and referenced my usual stylist and how she would just get into my hair and cut like 2-3” off at a time to get me my thick chunky layers I want. It was usually a 20 min cut. My first time here and I feel it will be my last. My impatience led me here vs waiting for my usual stylist to cut my hair. Course my usual stylist is older and has been cutting hair for 20-30 years now, experience does make a difference.Services: Haircut

Was recommended to come here for a massage. Called and made an appt from the business card a friend shared. So, I never went to their website. The person scheduling offered one time, then asked me if I could change it 3 more times after that. Each time I agreed. When I asked how much is the service for a 90 minute massage, she quoted me a price. I agreed and appt was booked. The massage was fantastic! Definitely not a high end spa. But it was nice, clean, timely, and the masseuse, Jennifer (not the owner), was fantastic! HOWEVER, I was not charged the price I was originally quoted. And when I questioned that, I was told there is nothing that could be done. I requested to have the contact info for the manager - which seemed to annoy the woman at the desk to give me the name of the manager. When I spoke with the manager the next day, she said she was aware of my situation. And told me that she doesn't know how I came up with that number. Well, I heard it. Being made to feel that I was making something up, and that your staff weren't the ones to do the error is rude and poor customer service. I would've absolutely booked regular massages and tip very high with that masseuse. To me, price was not the issue. But when you have poor or no customer service, then I won't bother to give any business. And will continue to tell many people about how this business is 100% NOT WORTH THE EXPERIENCE.
