The menu was top-notch, and the service was impeccable. Great classic menu items such as Buckwheat pancakes and a great atmosphere while overlooking the Fox River. I would happily eat there again.Food: 5/5

Incredible food. I was seated in a pretty bleak side room not near any of the windows overlooking the river, so didn't get much of the ambience of the main dining area, but it certainly didn't detract from the DELICIOUS food! Stocked homemade soup and salad bar was SO delicious. And the homemade meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and mushroom gravy were both filling and pleasureful. Wait staff was top knotch - friendly, attentive, and went out of their way to make everything enjoyable. Truly awesome lunch experience.

Went for dinner, and we won't be back. We waited about 20 minutes on a Friday evening, which wasn't too bad but after having the food, a waste of our time and money. The iced tea tasted watered down, the split pea soup was thin, and we didn't get a bread basket when ordering dinner. The coconut shrimp seemed bland, and the mango sauce tasted like what kids play-doh smells like. The waitress seemed in a hurry anytime we needed something, and apparently, you can't order bakery items to go, which is a waste of time, in my opinion. They also make you go to the counter to pay your bill, which is in the way at every angle and overly crowded with people.

Grandma's kitchen, homestyle food. If that's what you are looking for this is where you want to go. Their bread/biscuit not sure what to call it is amazing. They also have a bakery and I am sure you will find something sweet you love just like we did.We were traveling through and found this on Google. Very glad we made it a stop. The views if the river while you eat are beautiful as well.

The biscuits and gravy were amazing. I gotta be honest, they were probably the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. Everyone from the staff to the people at the table beside ours was friendly, the food was great, and I just felt completely at home here. Plus the bakery smelled like a corner of heaven!(I'm including two pics from out the window beside our table, you can see the river and I also saw a big fat bird in the bush.)

If your enjoy traditional comfort food, Harner’s will definitely not disappoint. Daily specials are always a solid choice but the menu offers many excellent options too. Harner’s is a charming, no frills county-style diner nestled next to the fox river. In addition to their delicious food selections, the best part of Harner’s could very well be their amazing bakery - you simply can’t leave the place without first salivating over the huge selection of freshly baked products - you will also be hard pressed not to bring home some additional treats such as a freshly baked pie, donuts or cookies.

Very friendly server, but food was disappointing. Meatloaf sandwich needed seasoning. Adding a few peppers and onions isn't seasoning. Bean soup had tons of large celery pieces, bell pepper? And big slices of carrot.

Took the kids there for breakfast and the service was awesome. Waitress was great with little kids and the food was very good. With rising food prices, they were still very reasonable. Bakery was awesome too!

If you are like me and love breakfast, this is a must stop for a few different factors. Their biscuits and gravy are fantastic and their custard filled donuts are amazing.

Great, fair priced pastries from a family owned small business. Wish more places like this were around these days. This box was 7$. This quantity of pastries of this quality would cost 20$ at a fancy downtown bakery can't beat harnersFood: 5/5

This is one of those predictable spots for a decent meal that all the old folks love. Roasted turkey dinner, meatloaf, daily specials... nothing amazing except for some of the baked goods. A small salad bar is a fairly inexpensive add-on, and the soups are homemade. I sure wouldn't go out of my way for it, but a sold choice for and inexpensive meal...

Great breakfast food. They also have amazing pastries! I recommend the maple walnut roll. Also a fully loaded bakery there with amazing donuts. You can't go wrong. The view of the river is quite nice also.

I decided to drive 30 min here, eager to try this local fan fav restaurant multiple ppl have recommended. The waitress came over, I told the her I needed a minute to decide on drink, she asked my mom if she wanted a water, I thought she was talking to me so I said "no thank you" she snapped and said "I WAS TALKING TO HER". It comes time to order, I got an iced tea. The iced tea had a weird taste. I asked for a coffee in addition. The coffee was also not good. It's like the water they used to make these drinks was off. I ordered a half order of biscuits and gravy to try. The biscuits were good, the gravy tasted like flavorless slop. For my meal I ordered the ham, egg and cheese croissant, with hash browns. The ham was literally all fat. Normally I don't care about this at all, I will literally eat the fat, or just pull it off. But the entire sandwich was mainly just fat, and not the kind I could bite through. My mom watched me struggle to chew it, and pulling pieces out of my mouth. 5 people came over to refill her coffee, but not once did our waitress come over to check on us, or see if we liked the food. My mom ended up calling her over to ask for the check. She brought the check, and I told her about my sandwich. I just whispered my ham was kind of fatty. She decided to scream to the entire restaurant that "OUR HAM IS NOT FATTY". Everyone is now staring at me. I told her I was not going to argue with her, and to look at the pile of fat on my plate + what I left in the sandwich. She walked away. She told the "manager". The "manager" came to us, I told her what happened including that the waitress literally just screamed at me. This woman goes to look at the sandwich and then comes back and tells me she needs to tell her boss because it didn't look fatty to her. She then goes and talks to someone, meanwhile my mom and I are standing there for 5+ min at this point waiting for these people to decide if the ham is fatty or not. This woman then comes back, totally bypassed me and told my mom they took it off the check. I don't know why telling them the ham on my sandwich was fatty led to such a dramatic series of events, nor do I understand why I deserved to be screamed at in front of a full restaurant of people. (Keep in mind- not once did I ask for them to take it off the check. Yes it was nice that they did, and I fully believe I deserved to have it off the check, GIVEN THAT I COULD NOT EAT IT. However I was not looking for a free meal.) If the waitress had any sort of awareness she would see that neither me nor my mom really touched our food at all. So both of us still left hungry. Yelp wants me to describe the ambience so I'll let you know - the ambience is that of a funeral home, with a nice river view. As I walked out the host screamed "WHAT" to an elderly person who had trouble speaking her name up. I would never come back here again, nor recommend it to ANYONE. The restaurant that was recommended to me is not the same as what it is today. I definitely agree w other negative reviews, that this restaurant is knocking on death's door.

We came here specifically for the chicken dinner as we saw Harner’s on TV and it looked like THE place for fried/broasted chicken. It did not disappoint. While you’re waiting to be seated, the bakery is adjacent so you can get your baked goods too. We got the butter pecan coffee cake and a dozen homemade biscuits to take home. Both tasted excellent! Then we went and had our dinner. The bread basket has a variety of unique made rolls and a spice pecan bread too.
