One night I went into our bedroom and found a chipmunk on our bed. Quickly went to our local Ace and asked for help. The sales associate told me what product I could use (sticky pads) and gave me directions on how to use it, even suggesting using peanut butter as bait. I went home and followed his directions. An hour later Mr. Chipmunk was stuck to the pad and we were able to remove him from our home. Thanks Ace.

Alright, I am still trying to figure out how to get in touch with corporate to let them know this story, but couldn’t wait any longer. Let me restore your faith in humanity with my experience yesterday night at Ace Hardware.
I needed to dispose of like 15 gallons of paint, so I called Ace. They said they’d be open until 8pm. We’d just gotten the kids down for bed, so I hurried to load everything up into my car and hauled it to the Ace in town. Got there and the lights were off. That’s when I realized the error: I’d called the Northbrook location, not HP. So I jumped back in my car and saw I could get to Northbrook by 8:01pm. I called them back and asked if they’d still be open right at 8, they said to do my best. I turned into the parking lot at 8:02 and saw the manager, Jeff, and two other employees standing outside. I rolled down my window preparing to BEG the guys to stay open for another minute.
‘You guys closed?’ I asked.
‘Pop the trunk,’ Jeff said. He grabbed the empty cart next to him.
‘What?’
‘Let’s get the paint loaded up. Jamie will go ring you up.’
I was speechless. Talk about a neighborhood store. I can’t remember the last time a business didn’t side-eye if you left less than a 20% tip. And here these guys were - waiting for me to help unload my trunk. The beauty is I get to tell this story any time someone asks about ace hardware. Thank you Jeff!

Helpful staff and a great experience. Looking for a specific material for a job that I was working on and they had the product in stock and waiting for me to pick up within an hour. Great customer service and I am very pleased to have the product on hand for future needs.

Would not even provide 1 start. Called and spoke with a representative, terrible service. Please have your employees go through training on customer service. Rep had no patience over the phone when asking general questions. Customer's call/ go to shop to have questions answered in a professional manner. Hopefully the general manager reads this and addresses it. No potential client should go through this poor experience.

Northbrook Ace Hardware team are very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. We were in the other day to get an assist on some furniture purchased next door at Turn the Tables in Northbrook-- these guys were super helpful in getting it into our truck. And they would NOT take payment! Given that we can't lift things anymore, this was a real gift on their part.
