We rented a car for about two weeks from Amir at Avis in Northbrook. Have to say that we had a great experience, Amir was so cordial and welcoming. We rented a Rav4 and had no trouble. He gave us wonderful customer service, answered all our questions. We were supposed to rent again after a short trip but in the end had to rent from Avis at O'hare.
Had trouble with the car from O'hare and did not receive the customer service from them that we expected. Got to Amir to switch cars as that is included in the service. The shop was closing and he was so nice that he opened up just for us and gladly switched cars for us!! Great service and I def recommend to rent from him!

Arrived on time for my reservation, only to be told they wouldn't have any cars available for 2 and a half hours after the stated time. The man I spoke to (South Asian, middle aged. Didn't get his name) was very unhelpful, and said I should just go somewhere else to pick up the reservation. Do not book a car from here.

UPDATE: The owner tells you to email your info in the response below and the response you get is a “There’s nothing we can do but we received your feedback and we’re sorry.” A waste of time so save yourself the few minutes. Added a screenshot of the email for you below.
I had a previously great experience with this Avis so when I was in town for my father’s open heart surgery and needed a car last min to be able to go back and forth from hospital, it was an easy go to. I booked the car for when they opened at 8am on Monday and when I got in, the “owner” was chatting with someone but interrupted the convo to ask me if I was dropping off a car. I said “picking up” and he looked shocked. He said I’d need to wait because they don’t have any cars and I asked why, then, I got a confirmation for the car and proper emails. He said it’s because the system automatically sends the confirmation… even if there’s no inventory?? Ok but whatever. He said it’d be 10-15 mins because he needed to go through his emails and I said ok and took a seat outside the office. Prob 10 mins later he waved me into the office again saying he had a car for me. (Woo!) so this is where it gets good…
He said he’d have to put me in an SUV because that’s what they have and I said no problem. He then proceeded to ask me if he could charge me more because I’m getting an suv vs what I booked. I said “no” because a) it’s not my problem or cost that you didn’t have inventory but confirmed the car and b) I’d be paying for gas for an suv vs a compact car. His response was “Well I can just deny you…” I was beyond dumbfounded and if it was a different day without me needing to urgently get to the hospital, I would’ve canceled my reservation with him then and there and gone down the street to enterprise and written this sooner. (Sidebar: Do you think he would’ve been that audacious if I was a man? I doubt it.) Nonetheless, I told him he could cancel me if he wanted and I’d go somewhere else. He didn’t say anything else and finished my paperwork. Further, I learned today as I was grabbing food with my niece that the front passenger door doesn’t open from the inside, and the gas tank closure is broken as well. Between the customer service experience and the quality of the car he wanted to charge me more for, I won’t be back and I recommend you do the same. Just for record keeping, I’m writing this Saturday at 5pm and the car isn’t due back until tomorrow morning. So, owner, your keys are at the front desk at the Renaissance. Do better.

Extremely Rude employee. I literally called the customer care and changed my location to highland park. I think his name is Amir. Rude and disrespectful. Do not meet this guy if you going to this location.

Horrible Avis location. The Janitor Amir Ally Merchant was very rude. Upon entering the facility, Amir Merchant showed absolutely no care for us, the customers. Before calling me a criminal, Amir claimed he could not clean my rental due to being attacked by a fly. Amir claims he went to hospital because a fly landed on him. I feel terribly sorry for Amir’s soft condition and hope he will be able to produce some testosterone to do his job correctly. Overall horrible experience.

I have rented from this location numerous times and will continue to do so. Amir, the manager, is a great guy, always has a smile and always does his best to help us find a car to meet our needs. Also an added bonus that it’s far less to rent from this location than O’Hare. I bring my business here whenever I’m in the area.

Not sure about the negative reviews because I’ve been doing one-way rentals here to and from NYC since the holidays in 2020 and I’ve had nothing but great experiences! He’s so nice and easy to communicate with every time I go in. I’ve never been there more than 5-10 minutes and my reservations have never had any issue.

Have had nothing but great experiences here after renting vehicles several times over the years.
Convenient location with a good stock of vehicles.
Also, the service I have had has always been top notch -- professional and amiable.

The worst experience for renting a car.
First, when we arrive to pick up the car, the seller told us he hadn't the car, because of missing information in the reservation. But all information was completed otherwise we would not be able to make the reservation. In the end, he had a car with a crack in the windshield, extremely dirty, but with a similar category we needed.
Second, a lot of bureaucracy to finish the rental. Even with a pre payment made in a credit card, he asked to another card.
Third, an additional driver was previous added at the reservation, but he wanted to charged anyway, after a long discussion it was not charged.
Gas was also included in the reservation, but we had to return the car with a full tank of gas.
For our surprise, a couple days later after we retuned the car, they are charging $450.00 for the cleaning service and claim that the car was delivered with Smoke Smell.
No one in the car smokes and I am pregnant.

It was one way rental, that i returned at this facility I was given car with large front damage at MCI but I did not take picture (it had clear x to the damage so It had to be noted in the system). While leaving rental facility, I was told that camera captures damages.
I came in, handed keys and said car has damage - it should be noted. Guy looked into the system and said - it is. He did not come out , now I received damage report

This location is staffed by an expecially pleasant and helpful agent. We have used it many timea and have always been satisfied.The office is located within a hotel that is always open, for after-hours returns one simply leaves the contract and keys with the hotel's lobby agent.
