My own dog and all of my foster pets come from this incredible organization, and I can’t recommend them enough. They truly go above and beyond for animals, stepping in to rescue dogs from neglect, abuse, and hoarding cases both locally and internationally.

One of the best animal rescues in Illinois! We’ve fostered two Yorkie terrier mixes from BTR (Stitch and Cheezy) and they’ve both been amazing dogs. The fostering process is easy and I love how rewarding it is helping a dog transition from shelter to home life. 💕🐕

I worked with Tami on a campaign to help collect donations for the shelter. I saw firsthand the work that they do there and it is clear that they care about the animals and are very passionate as well as involved in the work that they do!

The staff at Border Tails Rescue is terrific. They really try to match up the right dog with the right person. On Oct. 9, 2025 I adopted Frankie, a 12 lb. Cavalier mix Female. In the first 2 weeks she did not answer to her name so I changed it to Rosie and BINGO! She was a natural. She's such a lovebug! I was told that she didn't like men, but have not proven that to be true. I encourage a quiet, slow introduction and that seems to be key. Rosie is loves everyone and everyone loves her! What a great experience at Border Tails Rescue!

I found them on a dopt a pet. If they care so much about finding homes for these poor dogs, they shouldn't be charging 600.00 for and adoption fee. Most shelters or rescues charge between 200.00 to 300.00. Obviously this organization is out to make a profit off these poor abused dogs. Sickening.

Our family walked it to the most wonderful staff. Huge hearts, electric personalities, and a passion for these wonderful animals. We thought we knew what we wanted and picked a dog off the internet. Thank godness for Yanarie, she worked with us, walked through every step and had a good conversation on what our lives looked like, what we wanted in a pet, how our personalities and previous experience could be best utilized. We were paired up with the perfect angel and we got choosen by the perfect pup. He decided we could spoil him for the rest of his life. Forgive me I cant remember his name but a tall dark haired gentleman was so kind and helpful as well god bless him he was a great guy. A young lady long dark hair walked out with a pup and intoduced him to us. This gal was just as sweet as could be.
The entire staff was just excellent I would highly suggest going in with no predisposed ideas have a convo with your wants your needs your situation and I bet these follks could lead you in a good direction as to a great pet for you. I would give them 10 stars if I could and if you arent in a position to adopt you can foster if you cant foster you can donate. This is a absolutely 100% worth while group of people doing an amazing job. Stop in check them out, go to there website, your gonna love these folks. Thank you from a very satified family, and mostly thank you for introducing us to our new boy.

Border Tails Rescue is great rescue. The founder Harleigh is very kind and helpful and truly compassionate about rescuing and finding homes for pups. I recommend anyone looking to adopt a dog to visit here and get one from this place.

I really enjoy volunteering here and walking the beautiful dogs that need a home! I highly recommend adopting from them, or being a volunteer as dogs need walks end love!! Neat events too like their partnership with the Chicago Wolves for example. 🐶

After a long, winding search for my forever pup, everything crescendoed into meeting my baby girl Penny and discovering this wonderful, wonderful rescue. From start to finish, the folks that work here showed me that they care in so many ways. Yanarie, I believe her name, was nothing short of spectacular in helping me through the adoption process. I was able to visit with an array of well-loved rescues until Penny was dropped into my world. I’ve never met a more perfect dog, a more well-run and friendly rescue in my life. Thank you again to Yanarie, Brandon, and the rest of the Border Tails team for truly changing my life. So grateful to have worked with this place. You guys are real, thorough, and on purpose.
