Firstly let me say that I know most people only give negative reviews and rarely praise the positive. Unfortunately this review is a miss but I believe it is also important to praise the positive.
I’ve been getting my meds from Dundee Pharmacy for a few years now, as it was recommended to me by my doctor. From day one I felt nothing but love from Denise, Cheryl & Bob. Denise always greets me with a huge hello and enjoy chatting with her because she makes me laugh. Cheryl has been there for 17 years and it is understandable why. She’s fantastic.
My father is a retired pharmacist who owned his own pharmacy on the South Side for 40 years, before selling to Walgreens in 2018. So it is fair to say I grew up in a pharmacy and have nothing but respect and admiration for the profession.
On Thursday 10/23 I called at 9:15am to request an escrip be filled. The tech said that it would be ready by 12pm but they were busy, so it would be hard to get my prescription any earlier. She did tell me that they would have it by 11am which was pleasantly surprising and appreciated.
At 9:17am I received a call back from the pharmacy. It was Annette the pharmacist. Never. In my 47 years. Has an adult professional, in the medical or pharmacological field, spoken to me the way Annette the pharmacist did. She was totally out of line and completely overstepped her boundaries. Annette called to tell me the folllowing, “…every month we fill your prescriptions early at 27 days (then proceeded to rattle off the last 3 months of scrips) and you still ask for it early! You should have plenty! What are you doing? Are you Stockpiling your medication?…”
Annette proceeded to be accusatory, intrusive and just plain rude. I responded by telling her that I basically call them up monthly to request my meds. When I call either Cheryl or Denise let me know the status. Meaning that sometimes they tell me it won’t be able to get filled until a future date OR we will give you a call you when its ready. I have NEVER ONCE argued with them. I get my medication when THE PHARMACY tells me I get my medication. My point is that they are the ones who deal with insurance and fill my prescriptions. I have ZERO power. Annette really should have taken into consideration that they are the ones filling at 27 days. If they fill my prescription at 27 days then why did she need to call and question/berate me. She had a major attitude and even went as far as to tell me that despite my prescription being able to get filled, SHE wouldn’t fill it because she more or less did not want to. She wanted to talk with the owner first. She was going to prove her point. I took a beat and slept on it.
On Friday 10/24 I called back and the tech said my meds were ready. I picked them up and believe Annette was there. I could be wrong. The reason I believe this is because the owner Irene walked in as I was finishing up. I noticed her walk into the pharmacy where a female coworker almost immediately greeted her with a, hush-hush whispery gossipy conversation. Followed by them both quickly looking over at me. I have never had issue with anyone at Dundee Pharmacy. If anything, I truly adore Denise and Cheryl. I came here as a means to an end. I stayed because I have a deep love and appreciation for the old school, Mom&Pop, brick and mortar pharmacies AND the staff was exceptional.
Do better Dundee Pharmacy. Do better Annette. You should be ashamed and embarrassed by your behavior.

Always a great pharmacy experience at Dundee Pharmacy. Never have to wait to talk to somebody. So much faster and easier than Walgreens and CVS.

Best pharmacy! Everyone is so kind and actually cares about you! They do their best to make sure they have what you need and if something isn’t in stock they try to quickly get it in!

We’ve been going to Dundee Pharmacy for years, after growing tired of big box pharmacies like Walgreens with their poor communication, long delays, and general flakiness. The Dundee team has been great to us: competent, consistently reliable, with great followthrough on prescriptions. If there’s ever a problem, you can always reach a person and get things resolved promptly. Highly recommended!

The old lady at the front desk was rude and mean and did not want to answer my questions. If she is too tired to work, then she should not work especially at the pharmacy where she has to communicate with people all the time.

Found this pharmacy when we moved to the neighborhood a few years back. So glad we did. Day and night difference between corporate-run pharmacies. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Filled my prescriptions with Dundee Pharmacy for over a decade.They are one of the few who pickup the phone & provide answers to reasonable questions in a timely manner.All of the pharmacies in Chicago are a mess; I still commute to the suburbs to fill my prescriptions at Dundee.Their consistency is THAT strong.They offer a valuable service to their customers; I couldn’t recommend it more highly.For their courteous staff and timely execution - nobody pharms better than Dundee.

I just love coming to this pharmacy! I was tired of the long waits and impersonal care at the brand name pharmacy. The people are awesome, they are quick and when you call you speak to a real person Who is in the store!
