Mariano's, the Midwest's most exciting food destination, founded in 2010, is an integral part of the communities it serves. With over 40 locations across the Chicagoland area, Mariano's places a premium on the customer experience, offering a highly differentiated food shopping experience combined with exceptional customer service. Mariano's incorporates Chicagoland's distinctive neighborhood culture into its signature grocery merchandising allowing customers to enjoy a truly unique foodie experience. However, customers have reported disappointment with Mariano's prepared and takeaway foods. The bakery and juice bar have also received negative feedback, with long wait times and poor quality. While the store appearance is generally clean and the staff are friendly, the prepared meals are consistently described as "atrocious" and "bad," regardless of the dish. Some customers have even opted to shop elsewhere due to the poor quality of the prepared foods.
Great selection, clean store, but never enough check outs (self or otherwise) open.

The selection of products since Kroger took over has decreased drastically. All of the cool niche products that made Mariano's special are gone. I get it. Mariano's was so unprofitable that Kroger just bought them out.
I still shop here cause for now it's still better than the Jewel.
