I have been going to this vet for 10 years. The staff are friendly and helpful. The building, with its updates, is clean and has a modern look. I absolutely love Dr. Bannow. She has been wonderful with all of the issues both of my dogs have had, such as cancer and arthritis. Dr. Bannow is extremely knowledgeable and skilled. She takes the time to explain everything. She is conservative and doesn't push extra stuff either. Additionally, Dr. Bannow is professional yet extremely personable. She really cares for you and your pet. I highly recommend her. I wouldn't go anywhere else. In fact, I drive 45 minutes just to see Dr. Bannow.

Amazing staff, techs, and vets that truly care about the well being of your pet. Honestly, what else could you really ask for at a Pet Hospital. I hope Dr. Gardner and Jillian stay forever because they are perfect angels.

The staff was very friendly. My furbaby was treated very well and I felt like she was in good hands. The vet made sure to address all of my concerns. I'm very happy with the service at this location.

Dr Bannow, I forgot, you're right. You did communicate with me and offered suggestions for pet grief. You were the only vet who did. Thank you! But, you were the only one who reached out. However,I still stand by what I said, regarding your fellow vet, and receptionist. Their lack of compassion that day was stunning. including the rest of your staff. In fact I felt "ganged up" by the 2 of them. Not the right time, very unprofessional. I had apologized immediately, and it was not directed towards that person. She overheard what I said, and made it her business. she did not understand the situation and why I was even there. Since your business has gotten so big, there is no longer the "personal touch", there once was.

When I lost my dog, I reached out for some help with my grieving. Nothing! They had nothing to offer me. I asked if they knew of any grief groups, or books or anything to deal with my loss. They happily took my money, and when he passed away, they offered no help. Even just talking to the vet, would have helped. No compassion. Wonder what goes on when we're not there, I doubt it's good.

I highly recommend North Shore Family Pet Hospital. I have two elderly cats with some challenging health issues and my pets have received excellent care with care and compassion on every visit.
Previous to finding North Shore, I have tried several veterinary practices in the Chicago area. On more than one occasion, my cats have received misdiagnosis, no follow-ups and unavailable veterinarians in emergent situations. These situations have led me to go to the emergency vet which is terribly expensive.
North Shore Family Pet has been a breath of fresh air. When first calling, they were able to schedule an appointment pretty fast considering it was an initial visit. The doctor recommended several options of treatment at many different price points which allowed me to make the best decision for my pets.
At North Shore, the team of doctors communicate very well with one another as was the case when I saw a different veterinarian there, other than my primary vet, due to an emergency situation with my cat. On follow-up with my primary vet, she was well aware of and aligned with the subsequent treatment my cat had received from the other doctor which reassured me that my pets are given the best continuity of care.
The front office team was very accommodating to my needs. They offered several scheduling options that worked with my busy schedule. When I first checked in, they brought me directly into a room so my kitty could stay calm and not be with the dogs in the waiting room.
The practice has cat only and dog only treatment rooms. In the cat only room, they have a Feliway pheromone plug-in to create a calm atmosphere for my kitty. I consider these actions above and beyond for a vet practice.
The prices are reasonable and much less than most of the vet places I’ve been to in Chicago. With every visit, I’ve been very pleased with the entire experience while getting care for my two fur babies. I can’t say enough great things about North Shore Family Pet.

Fantastic Veterinary Care at North Shore Family Pet
I can't say enough positive things about my experiences at North Shore Family Pet for the past 10 years! From the moment I walk through the door, I know my dogs are in good hands.
The staff greets us warmly and makes us feel like family right away. Their genuine love for animals is evident in every interaction. They take the time to listen to my concerns and answer all of my questions, putting my mind at ease.
The clinic itself is immaculate and well-equipped, creating a calming atmosphere for both pets and their owners. The waiting area is spacious and comfortable, and I appreciated the separate areas for cats and dogs to minimize stress.
But what truly sets North Shore Family Pet apart is the level of care they provide. The veterinarians are incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and dedicated to the well-being of their patients. They listen, conduct a thorough examination of my pet and explain everything in detail, ensuring I understand the diagnosis and available treatment plans.
Throughout the entire process, I feel valued, supported and reassured. Whether it's a routine check-up or a more serious issue, I trust North Shore Family Pet to deliver top-notch care. I'm grateful to have such a wonderful veterinary clinic in our community and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for exceptional care for their beloved pets.

So... I'm looking for a new vet in the area. Called to inquire about dental service, just a ball park range. Rude receptionist immediately and brusquely put me on hold, then would not give a service cost RANGE, asked several times for just the baseline to do a comparison for vets in the area. Refused and basically mandated that an exam had to be done first. I didn't ask for a quote, just a price. Shady AF. If this is their level of service for a new client inquiry, imagine if you become one? No thanks. 8-[

Absolutely adore the staff at North Shore; they have been nothing but kind and accommodating, even for the most last minute of appointments. Above all, I appreciate that the vets truly do love their patients; they've made sure to make visits fun and fear-free for everyone involved! Dr. Makowski and Dr. Pepich in particular have been nothing but wonderful to me and my pup.
