About Northbrook History Museum

The Northbrook History Museum is a nice little museum about the history of Northbrook, located inside a beautifully restored original house and inn from the late 1800s. It is a fascinating museum and a neat place to learn about the beginnings of the town, with not many towns having a historical building devoted to their history. The museum has a good number of well presented rooms and arranged artifacts spread over three floors, with each room focusing on a different aspect of Northbrook's history. Downstairs features maps of landowners from 1875, while the upstairs is furnished with beds and furniture to replicate what it would have been like in the past, specifically from 1906, offering a truly incredible blast from the past. The museum is staffed by very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and helpful volunteers who provide excellent personal tours, making the visit especially great. There is some signage, but a guided tour is highly recommended. Parking is easy, and there is a nice little gift shop with very reasonably priced souvenirs. A noted drawback is that the hours are limited, as it is only open for two hours each Sunday.
