I called this company because I had an unsightly stain on my granite. I left a message, and they actually called me back! That doesn't always happen when you call a business. I got a very good feeling for this company right away. A gentleman came to take a look at my granite. He said he wasn't too hopeful about the stain being removed. He put something on it that he left overnight. When he came back the next day and took the material off, the stain was still there. Then he cleaned the granite and resealed the granite. A few hours later when I returned from an appointment, I was happy to see that my granite was perfect! The stain was completely gone. I am so happy. And as an aside, the gentleman's name was Bob and he was a very nice man. Thank you! Happy

Tithof is one of the best in the industry. Superior level of service and quality through every step of the project. They also have some of a the most talented sales and design teams in Chicago.

I have called 5 times over the course of 3 weeks to get pricing on a piece of marble for a bar top. Not sure if the project is too small and they can't be bothered, but I feel like they shouldn't say they sell remnants if they can't be bothered with it. Every time I call they tell me a designer will call me back and they never do. Very unprofessional business. Don't waste your time.

Tithof provided the slabs for both our kitchen and master bath. Leslie did a wonderful job in helping us with our selections. We encountered some hiccups along the way, but the sign of a great company is how they deal with problems. We worked with Brook, whose professionalism and willingness to make it right was outstanding. The entire team, from designers to installers to management,, were wonderful. We highly recommend Tithof and will certainly use them again in the future.

Think very carefully before engaging this tile company, no matter what your friends’ experience is. The way a company handles problems is indicative of their decency, honesty, and customer service.Tithof does not stand behind the samples it provides as being representative of its product. I bought both slate for a mudroom floor and Oceanside glass tile for a backsplash. The representative, Brook Cumorich, showed me a sample of slate in the show room. I specifically asked about the white splotches I noticed on the slate tile. Brook assured me that this was superficial only and would not appear after sealing. She wiped with a wet rag to show me the deep black color. Total incompetence. After installed, many tiles had white spots. Even if wiped first, the white splotches re-appeared after drying AND after sealing. Brook blamed the installer for not ordering enough tile. We had enough, but so many had white splotches, it was hard to know where to put them.The installer actually saved the day by using elbow grease and product to remove the white splotches. He did this at no charge to me. He was honorable.The backsplash was a disaster. We chose a glass tile to match existing granite counter. Tile arrived; laid out an entire box of tile. Thicker than sample (they never provided a sample of the exact tile. “Sorry, we don’t have your particular choice sample in stock. This sample will be accurate.” The delivered tile looked "reasonably" close -- given it was glass (hard to tell how glass will look once installed).After installation, the tile color was RADICALLY DIFFERENT FROM SAMPLE (I wish I could post a photo to show sample against installed tile. The sample was peach, matching peach in counter; the installed tile was a muddy brown, reminiscent of the outcome of a very bad illness). John Tithof, owner came out. Arrogant; defensive. He said we shouldn't have installed — even though looked ok before installation. He chastised us, saying we should have primed the tiles. When we said the tiles HAD been primed, he reversed himself. "Oh, no. Oceanside won't back it up if primed." Hmmm. Dissembler?I asked what they would do to compensate us for having to rip out, buy new tile, install it; delay of 6 weeks. If they had offered $100 as a sign of goodwill, (The tile cost was 24 times that), I would have been happy. Instead they charged my credit card for the balance without my permission (contract notes they can do this. Too bad I didn’t notice that detail): If you are foolish enough to use them, CANCEL YOUR CREDIT CARD AFTER MAKING DEPOSIT. Then you have some negotiating power with these charlatans.
