We first wandered in because we were looking for a new piece that could work as a TV stand. Our particle board one was on its last legs, and we wanted a replacement that would last.
We found a beautiful rolling buffet with a marble top, and wanted to buy it immediately, but we had no idea how we were going to get the thing to and in our apartment.
The cashier whipped out a piece of paper, and told me to call Bart.
They make it so easy to pick things up, and Bart was wonderful to work with for delivery.
The owners are so cute and make the place even better. We went back and found a second piece, and can't wait to see what is there the next time we pop in!”
“Tim’s Baseball Card Shop is hands down my favorite card shop in Chicago. My daughter and I have been coming here together for years, and it’s become one of those places we genuinely look forward to visiting every month.
Tim and MJ are local, incredibly knowledgeable, and just great people to talk cards with. We’re strictly baseball card collectors, and their selection is always fantastic, with a great mix of hobby boxes, blasters, and plenty of slabbed cards to dig through. Just as important, the pricing is always fair and I’ve never felt like they’re trying to take advantage of what’s hot at the moment.
There’s also something special about supporting a true neighborhood card shop run by people who know the hobby and care about the people who walk through the door. After years of visits, it still feels like a treat every time my daughter and I walk in. Tim’s is absolutely worth a visit.”

“I used to live nearby & spent many hours in this store. The owners are wonderful! I bought so many collector Barbie’s & a few Gene dolls. I met the designer of the gene doll, Mel Odom at an event at the store, got his autograph. It was such fun! I plan on passing all those Barbie’s down to my 2 granddaughters (ages 16 & 18) when they get a bit older. They have picked which ones they want. I live in cali now & miss shopping at gigis dolls. It’s a great place to shop & I highly recommend it! Wish I lived closer so I could go say hello & get some more dolls! If you love dolls you have to check out their store, you’ll be in heaven!”

“I couldn't be happier with the amazing refinishing job Valentino and his team did on an old but beautiful ebony Baker dining table, a large 1780s chest, my daughter's childhood dresser and a vintage magazine holder. They are museum quality now -- and were a disaster before. Their attention to detail and expertise were amazing. And Valentino was so knowledgable and gracious to deal with that it made the whole experience a pleasure. His team expertly and carefully picked up the pieces and delivered them back to my Gold Coast home when they were finished. I smile every time I look at my refinished pieces. I never realized how happy this would make me. And his fees were very reasonable considering the superb quality. Thank you, Valentino!”
“I called to get a get what the commission was on my 14 k braclers. The owner told me 97% of the spot price. I did the calculations and came up with the price. I get there and she changes the commission to 93% of golds current spot price. We do the math and she pulls out a sheet of paper with the price they pay for 14 k based on Gram price. Nobody would show me the sheet. I do the calculation and the price would be $87.92 after 93% of the sot price commission which came out to over $6000. The lady owner looks at her sheet of paper for what they pay for 14k gold. Unbelievably she offers $78 a gram Which lowers the price by $1000 to $5000. My calculations were correct. Her piece of paper was taking a 15% commission. She says I have to make money ( by cheating me). I get up to leave and she flashes $5200 cash. For me it's no dea when you steal.”

“This place is so cool. The store itself isn't large but its PACKED with treasures. If you like antique and vintage medical stuff, or curiosities and oddities i highly recommend coming in here. They gave very fair pricing, and they also have items that are for display only. My favorite was the squirrel gun. A must see shop!”

“To the 1 star review who wondered if they weren’t greeted because of their skin color, I can share I (a visibly brown person) spent hours here and no one was greeted no matter who they were or their skin color. That doesn’t bother me at all, I like being left alone to browse, but wanted to reassure people who may have been put off. Because if you ask any questions, you will get the warmest friendliest service ever. I’m so happy I discovered this place, the furniture is incredible and mostly from estate sales so very high quality stuff. I plan to visit at least a few times a month since they turn over so much stuff.”

“Such a cool spot that’s a lot larger than it looks so there’s so much to explore! They have a booth style setup so you might have to ask to see in some of the cabinets. Each is packed with tons of stuff spanning a lot of different periods of history and includes photographs, cameras, clothes, pins, wall decor, and more. I heard people haggling the prices so that’s cool you can do that too. I didn’t get a chance to look upstairs but awesome there are two floors of cool stuff! In the heart of a very cool neighborhood too.”

“Besides being a supreme craftsman, Ray is a purveyor of marvelous oddities like the recycled-aluminum creatures--flamingoes, penguins, pigs, roosters--that I've collected over the years. These all-weather friends "hide" in plain sight, peeking out from behind trees & shrubs, delighting toddlers, amusing passersby. Yesterday as I turned onto Ridge in Wilmette, a green dinosaur in front of Ray's shop flagged me down & asked where I've been! He & his brilliant friends, peacock & owl, made me laugh--& for a moment I forgot about Covid 19, my husband's stroke, the war in Ukraine, global warming. Who could resist that? And so our menagerie grows--in size & popularity. Thanks to Ray”

“Nice vintage shop with a lot of great curating going on.
My favorite things to look at were the jewelery displays. There was everything from costume jewelry, to 925 sterling, to gold w/ diamonds.
There was also a ton of unique and high quality furnishings / home decor to look through. Though the prices for most things were consistently on the higher end of things, the staffs warm and friendly helpfullnes made a great impression on me. I will definitely be making a note of this place for the future.
