I was issued a CIBC check from my awful insurance company American Alliance for $2500 from a partial accident claim, I brought it to CIBC in Oak Brook to cash it. I was rudely told they cannot cash a check over $2k if the holder does not have an account, which I have NEVER heard of from other, brand name legit banks which this is not. It is your own check issued from THIS bank, charge a fee and cash it just like Chase, BOA, or other real banks do, account or not. This bank experience was as bad as dealing with American Alliance, two peas in a pod that are awful, just check reviews on BBB, Yelp, Google, etc. The one attendant was rude and callous. My bank and a currency exchange would not even touch this check today I found out without calling both the bank and American Alliance, so that tells you something.

Pretty rude front attendant. Was new to the area, and took a bike ride instead of driving. No walk-in ATM.
