I had to put my dog to sleep and the crew was very sympathetic and very understanding that it was a sad day for me and they supported me and were there for my dog.

The BEST vet around. I have a pit mix and she’s been thru it to say the least. They always get us in almost immediately, clean, and the dr. genuinely loves his animals.Let’s not forget to mention affordable, even without pet insurance. My baby is 10, and half the time has to be carried into any animal hospital, here she walks right in.That speaks volumes!!

Everything was explained in detail for me when I brought our new little one in for the first time. Everyone was very friendly. And their Thrive plan helps with the finances also!!

I like Dr. Bowen as a person, and as a vet, I know he means well. That being said, he dropped the ball when it came to late cat Felix's care. Yes, late cat. He died at the time this is being written. Even though my heart is torn apart, I will try to be objective. May 1, 2023, we brought him to the hospital because he was vomiting and refusing to eat or drink. He told us that he had liver damage, and his staff suggested he was poisoned. We left him in his care, and he seemed to have recovered. Still, when we brought him home, he refused to eat or drink. We took him back to Dr. Bowen, and he was nice enough to take him home for the weekend to get him to eat. He was fine for a while, but then the same symptoms returned. Dr. Bowen said that his liver was fine and did not see anything wrong, giving us medication to make him eat, which did not work. He suggested we change his food because he had allergies. Still, he would not eat or drink. Felix became dehydrated again, and since his office was closed at the time, we took Felix to an emergency room in Elk Grove Village. They said that his kidneys were damaged, which was a shock because Dr. Bowen kept saying how fine Felix is. He was treated and released, but after a day, Felix stopped eating and drinking AGAIN. Dr. Bowen did not admit him because the office would be closed whilst he was on vacation. He gave him CBD and probiotics to get him to eat, but Felix still would not. Two days later, we returned Felix to the emergency room in Elk Grove Village. They treated him but recommended he see a specialist, which we did. That specialist did a GI tract and an ultrasound. She found nodules that turned out to be cancerous. Because of how aggressive the tumors were, we had no choice but to euthanize him. Why did Dr. Bowen not order an ultrasound or recommend a specialist after the third time when brought Felix to him? If he did, maybe they would have caught the cancer early and he would have survived. Instead, I had to pay so much money for medications that did not work. Also, Dr. Bowen said we should give Felix milk, butter, and bacon fat to help him gain weight, but the doctor at the emergency room said this was a bad idea because cats are lactose intolerant and bacon fat would irritate the stomach. Again, I know he means well, but he is the only vet taking care of so many animals. He should either hire at least one more vet or retire. Well, we have one cat left, and she will be receiving her care elsewhere from now on.Update: my wife took our other cat to the new vet today. She found two things that Dr Bowen did not. First, Dr Bowen diagnosed our girl with hypothyroidism, but they said it was really hyper thyroidism and that she was not getting the proper medication. Also, he had said that Felix's teeth needed to be cleaned, but we do not recall him saying anything about the other cat's teeth. At the new vet, my wife was told that our cat has gingivitis. Figure it out for yourself.Update: I already told this office that my cat was dead, yet they sent me a postcard telling me that it was time for his rabies vaccine. Have they no sense or heart? Are they really trying to traumatize me?

Dr. Bowen is wonderful and takes the time to hear your concerns and figure out what is wrong with your pet! Wonderful doctor!

I took my 12+ yr old former street cat to Dr. Bowen after she began to rapidly decline in weight and energy. I was terrified. Every single staff member I interacted with was incredibly kind, gentle and personable. Dr. Bowen takes his time with your pet. He listens to all of your concerns and answers all questions in ways that help you to truly understand what's happening with your pet and how their body works. He gave me hope that I can extend my baby's life and improve her quality of life with medication and supplements. Everyone goes above and beyond; my cat had a very messy accident in her carrier on the way to our appointment, so she was in rough shape when we arrived. The vet tech not only bathed my cat for me (this is the cleanest she has EVER been), but also took her carrier to the back and deep cleaned it for me. Furthermore, the costs were incredibly low. I had taken my other pet to another local vet and was charged almost double for half of what we had done with Dr. Bowen. Comparing receipts, I'm baffled. The level of care they provide at the low cost that they charge is very, very hard to find these days. I live 30 miles away and will be taking all of my pets to Dr. Bowen forever.

Our cat Bonnie was very sick. Dr Bowen is amazing. Bonnie had kidney failure, thyroid problems, diarrhea, and was severely dehydrated. He pulled her through and she is slowly getting back to herself. Thank you Dr Bowen! Recommend Oak Village Animal Hospital with 5 Stars!

Really patient with my old cats. Only drawback, my one cat's medication has still not come in - 2+ weeks after his visit.

My cat has had an on and off ear infection going on for over 2 years, I’ve taken her to 3 other vets to find out what’s wrong with her to only receive no answers, they would just clean out her ear and give me ear drops that lasted about a few months and then her ear infection would return. One vet gave her a shot of convenia (which nearly killed her) another vet wanted to do surgery which would’ve run me around $1000.00.Frustrated I was told this place is really good and very caring. I decided to bring my cat into here to see if I could get a different opinion, they asked me to bring in a list of all foods and treats I give her, upon bringing her in the Dr. Took his time examining her and took a look at the foods and treats I was giving her, he cleaned out her ear and put medicine in it and gave her an allergy shot. The rest of the day my cat was mad at me, but, the very next day and since my cat has become the cat I haven’t seen in over 2 years, she’s not in pain anymore she doesn’t sleep all day. She’s back to being my shadow and playful again. I can’t believe it was the treats I was giving her that she loved and craved causing her to be sick and in pain, and I’m glad I brought her here for another opinion.

Dr Bowen is a good doctor I happy the way he isHowever one person in the front desk is very rude and is not patient unfortunately I didn't get her name I think she needs to take customer service training or change her attitude , that is the reason I give 3 stars
