I stopped going here because the former face of the store was terribly rude but I decided to be a sell-out when I got a coupon years later! Sadly, the woman's predecessor is just as snooty! Son or lover perhaps? Anyhow, he seems to think he's a very important member of the art world or just the world in general. He messed up my art on top of it and never dropped the 'tude! There is a faaaaaar nicer and more detailed-oriented framer south of here. The Not-So-Great Frame Up has officially lost my business.

Had my ketubah (Jewish marriage contract) custom framed here. Pam spent over an hour going through all of my many many options with me to make sure I found a frame I loved. The finished product is beautiful!

Great quality of work! I brought in an antique burlap bag from a family business in the 1800-mid 1900s. They did a great job carefully sowing the burlap into the matting for a really clean finish. Framing is always expensive, but they really did a fantastic job with the care of the bag for this project.

I will never go back to The Great Frame Up for custom framing (at least not the location in Oak Park). I had a unique- sized poster to frame and when I couldn't find the right size of frame to do it myself, I decided to have it custom framed. I called around a few local places in OP to get quotes and The Great Frame Up was priced in the middle, so I decided to give them a shot. Unfortunately, the sales person was condescending and rude. Even though I had just spoken to her on the phone, she immediately tried to up- sell me and selected frames upwards of $200, excluding matte, glass, etc. I asked her how the pricing worked and how the frames she was pulling out would compare to the quote I was given over the phone; which was the "poster package" at $200. She said that the poster package was "like going to Subway and getting a meal deal versus ala carte." She should have initially explained how the pricing worked and the different packages available before launching into her strange analogy. She actually gave me a similar analogy when I picked up my picture a couple weeks later. I asked her if she could attach a hook to the back of the packaged frame, to make it easier to carry on my short walk home. She compared that to shopping at Target. It was a simple question (and something that I have received from other framing stores in the city without question). She didn't need to be consistently rude and I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

SUPER nice people that will spend hours (literally!) with you figuring out just the right framing and matting combo for whatever it is you want to frame and will execute it beautifully! They can get pretty busy, but if you call ahead and go when they're not crowded, you can really take your time looking at their MANY options and finding the one that's just perfect. Only negative side? It's EXPENSIVE... but it's custom framing, so really, what did you expect? ;] It's the kind of job that will last a lifetime, though, so is worth it for those "special" pieces.

I have done a lot of art work. I used to go to the Great Frame Up to put together my own frames. So, I went there and found out that it doesn't work that way any more. I said OK. and selected matting and framing for one of the two pieces that I wanted framed. The cost would be about $500! I had to scale back my desires. I then selected much simpler frames and mattes. The total for the two frames was still well over $200. You need to know I used to build my own for less than $30, as well as cut my own mattes. I was happy with the service. The quality of the work was very high. However, I will probably not go back. I will base the size of my art on standard sizes and buy some artwork in frames from Bed, Bath, and Beyond or some other store, and just replace it with my art.

Wow the owner remembered me and my husband as we have been in a few times. My toddler cracked the glass on a small picture frame and she gave us a new piece of glass for free. So we'll be coming here for our framing needs.

Don't be fooled just because this location is part of a chain: This is the BEST framing experience I have had in the Oak Park area! They have a variety of mats, frames and glass to choose from and the techs are knowledgeable and helpful. The turnaround time was very reasonable, too. It's pricey, but you get what you pay for, and I could not be happier with the final product!
