Clerk charged 40,I say will the balance go back on card as credit...he says of course like it is a stupid question. I pumped 32.00 to fill and was charged 40.00 and I know they do this scam frequently as I remember it happening 3 years earlier.....

Rude and unhelpful clerks both times. Not going to bring business here again. And wear your masks as you expect your shoppers to wear theirs. 0 stars.

The guy working there is a thief. Make sure you ask for your receipt and look at it because he will charge you less and for different items then what you bought and keeps the money. Use a debit NO CASH

Occurred Tuesday, June 18th 2019 I went to a particular 7-Eleven because it is one of the few, rare stores that has Coke Zero. I drove a long distance to this one on Roosevelt Road and Summit/Midwest in Villa Park or Oak Brook Terrace... I told the cashiers I was getting a refill . I proceeded to pour the drink and brought it to the register to pay $1.07. I had a $5 bill and kind of felt guilty that I would take away some of their change so I looked in my pocket for a dime to make things easier. I came up with a quarter so I paid $5.25 as I later did find a dime. Anyway, the cashier gave me back some cash and some change ... as I was exiting the store I noticed I only got back $3 in dollar bills and the change I presume was 18 cents like who has time to count change, coins accurately. I returned into the store to ask for a copy of the receipt and told the cashier that I had been short-changed by $1 as he only gave me $3 not $4 as expected. The cashier had to process some other customer(s) before me, understandably, but then kind of blamed me for him short-changing me. He asked me to show him the cash or money he gave to me. So I handed back the $3 and told him the change was in my pocket. He begrudgingly said some comments what I should have done or something and dismissively and disrespectfully handed me back the $3 and kind of tossed the extra $1 due into my hand. There was no apology for attempting to if not intentionally ripping me off of $1. The cashier should have known that if a customer pays over the amount due that the intent is to help them save their change and issue the extra dollar especially if the change the customer exceeds the change amount of the transaction. I can understand that had I not given the extra quarter and just paid the $5, the cashier would be programmed to issue or give change of $3 and something in this instance but I did hand him a quarter which exceeded the 7 cents and he should have known to give me $4 and a small amount of change due. I think the level of disrespect I received from this store was partly due to my being a Black male as well. I felt uncomfortable going to this store in the past and today was no exception. I am sure the cashier felt uncomfortable too but he ripped me off of $1. Another problem I have with this store is they have a minimum purchase amount if one uses a credit card. I would have used a credit card for this transaction but I did not want to pay extra for another item and just wanted the refill of the soft drink. I do not feel comfortable ever going to this store again due to my perceptions that because of my skin color that they will take advantage of me and try to cheat me despite I earned a Master's degree& they almost got away with it Tuesday, June 18ty... I filed a complaint... since I do not think I can ever trust coming to this 7 Eleven again due to its perfidy I have perceived with today's transaction. Summary: If you're black (or any customer) and you come here to buy things, use a credit card or watch your change before you leave the place. Perhaps do not try to be too nice to save them change or dollar bills & pay with a little extra to do such. Do not deal with cash with them and if you do,, make things simple as expected as it will only cause confusion & you may end up getting short-changed just for trying to make nice gesture & you will get blamed if you do not notice you have been short-changed immediately. Also get a receipt if you use cash or even credit card. You, as a customer, are responsible for counting and verifying the change given to you so take time to get your receipt at this place and count your change carefully to make sure cashier does not try to cheat you out of change or $1
