Worst customer service ever, they lied about us having an appointment when we made one, they lied and said we never had an account with them either.

I have been going to Novak-Rinker for many years with my dog and cat. I recommend them. Cara and the receptionists are great!! My dog had to have surgery last winter Dr. Novak did an awesome job, Josh was helpful like always and thorough with his at home care!! He has been good to go ever since I couldn’t be anymore thankful. I had to put my 17 y/o cat down 2 yrs ago they took great care of him and he wasn’t the easiest for them whenever he had to go to the vet. Dr. Novak and Josh have always made things easier for him. If ever I have questions Josh is very knowledgeable. My cat I adopted last yr doesn’t mind going. Dr. Caitlin is an awesome vet as well they both like her too!! They have compassion for my fur babies and have always taken great care of my cat and dog, thank you so much!!!

If you leave a bad review they drop the ban hammer. Nice facilities though so they are doing something right.

The staff are so compassionate! We had to euthanize our 15 year old cat and all the staff were so sweet. Definitely take your fur babies there.

Everyone has their own opinion about places. But I've never had a problem with Novak. Streator or Ottawa. My pets are always taken care of and every need met.

I am 60 years old and have encountered many vets and in my life. Dr Rinker is the most compassionate, attentive and accomplished vet I have ever known. Truly a special human being!

Took my cat in for her first visit after moving here. The vet was very prepared and took the time to really look at the records so she knew my cat's history. She did not rush(or make me feel rushed) and made sure to ask if I had any questions or concerns. Overall, very happy with the visit and will definitely bring my cat back.

We had taken our one dog here for over 4 years, then recently took our new puppy here as well. I supported them during a recent barrage of complaints on social media, because there had never been issues, except for the inability to trim nails properly. I understand they’re not an emergency vet clinic, but I don’t understand no longer being on call or at least notifying everyone your policy changed. What I will never understand is the rudeness by staff or the uncaring attitude. If you’re all so stressed by the long hours in veterinary care, as I was told by one vet, perhaps it’s time for early retirement or another line of work.

I have given Dr. Novak and Rinker Veterinary Clinic in Ottawa nothing but raving reviews and have referred many clients to them who are in need of a veterinarian. I took my pet in recently to be dropped off for a professional dental cleaning. Upon check in, the receptionist informed me a canine flu vaccine was required and will be given the day of his dental cleaning. In the multiple times my pet has been in for his bloodwork and vaccines recently, this was not mentioned once. With my 12 years veterinary experience (and a degree in it), I personally do not feel comfortable while giving an animal a vaccine once they’ve been under anesthesia. It’s not common, but very rarely there are vaccine reactions which I’ve seen before. I know that anesthesia takes 24 hours to wear off and going under for a procedure can make pets lethargic afterwards. There are plenty of articles stating it’s not recommended to give a pet a vaccine on the day of anesthesia due to their immune systems being suppressed. The receptionist who’s been there for 23 years asked me “why does it matter???” Very unprofessionally. If you’re that unhappy and miserable you shouldn’t be working in customer service. It’s negatively affecting MANY clients with complaints about this receptionist and the owner will not take any action though is losing business faster each week.Knowing this vaccine was required earlier, I would’ve given him a Benadryl before bringing him in for his wellness and vaccine appointment recently prior to his dental cleaning. I want nothing best for my pets and my clients’ pets. I’m very easy to talk to and I don’t get upset easily. After being concerned about the vaccination that was going to be given the receptionist rolled her eyes at me and told me I’m welcome to leave. I was instantly taken back and stated I just had a few questions for the doctor when she arrived. She then told me it wasn’t a big deal and that I was overreacting and “acting like a know it all” and “she wasn’t going to hold my hand” while doing a surgery check in. She continued to sigh and tap her pen and berate me in front of another client checking in their pet.The vaccine question and concern was a grain of salt compared to the real issue here which was the way an owner was treated by simply asking a couple of questions. As you can imagine, this would make any owner visibly upset. It was extremely unprofessional and degrading and I feel so embarrassed. ? I collected my records and have taken all 6 of my beloved pets elsewhere.Update: The owner, Dr. Novak called me. She said the receptionist is just doing her job and said “you’re just an emotional kind of person aren’t you?” I as an employer would want to know if a receptionist is treating clients this way but nothing came out of our conversation and she said she was too busy to talk to me any further. This makes me so sad hearing many clients have gone through similar experiences there. I’ve had many people including clients of mine pull their records from this place. They should be ashamed of themselves for treating clients so poorly.

Treat customers like they are trash, no respect whatsoever I hope they lose business soon many many many people all over Facebook are taking their pets somewhere else over 100 people have already came together and expressed what exactly goes on and how the workers treat people Dr Novak continues to belittle customers and treat them very disrespectfully. Hope everyone who sees this review really sees what’s going on, look them up on Facebook and look at what people are saying and how they were treated.
