Excellent people, they helped me getting a car , I would go to different dealerships and I could never get approved with top-notch no questions asked they tried their best to get me a good deal couldn’t be more happy with our purchase. I really had a positive experience at this car dealership. I came in to originally to look at 2 Honda ridgelines. Upon arriving I was greeted by the salesman Rudy. Unfortunately one of the Ridgelines was in the service dept and he said it would be ready the next day, and he promised he wouldn't sell either truck. The next morning Rudy again had both vehicles ready to be test ridden. He let me inspect both cars and poke around. Rudy also printed both cars carfax reports. After choosing the better of the two he allowed a test ride and let me take the vehicle to my local mechanic. My mechanic did his inspection and everything passed, minus one minor issue. No one should expect a used machine (10+yrs old) to be absolutely perfect... we do not live in a perfect world. My mechanic told me what his cost was to fix it and gave me qoute. The test ride was great! Talking numbers was easy. He first asked what I thought my trade was worth and and met my number expectation. Then he asked about the price of the machine. I told him the average retail numbers I researched online and his price was originally high on the retail side. I told Rudy what my mechanic qouted me on the issue and he offered to fix it or discount the vehicle based off of the cost of the repair and then some. I chose the discount which was totally fair in my opinion. He then printed a bill of sale and I was very surprised that there wasn't any unnecessary fees. (PRICE, DOC FEE, TRADE, TAXES, CVR, REGISTRATION) EASY! NO BS FEES! Just a straight up bill of sale! Going into the finance office was easy. He offered easy financing options and accepted a cashiers check from my local credit union. They also offered a warranty. The only thing that didn't meet my expectations was not filling up the gas tank, but to be fair I did not ask. No biggie.
I would honestly come back to do business at Top Notch. Everything was easy! And I am very happy with my purchase. Please do yourself a favor and ask for Rudy and his sales staff. They are honest people running a honest business. That is something you do not get nowadays.

We cannot say enough about the service and professionalism we experienced at Top Notch! My husband and I had been researching and test driving used Toyotas for a long time before purchasing a Toyota Sienna from Top Notch. The entire staff was amazing !!! The staff was beyond helpful and professional, despite our arriving after closing on a Saturday evening! Mike not only was our salesman, but incredibly knowledgeable about our vehicle of choice. He answered all our questions before our purchase and even after we brought our vehicle home. We also had a very nice gentleman assist in the sale and test drive, but his name escapes us. Last but not least, was the assistance of the service department. Yes , we closed our deal late Friday evening and even left with a service contract ! We highly recommend Top Notch to all and we will be back for our next used car purchase !

These guys are truly the best, very helpful and upfront about everything. Ran into some issues with our vehicle after purchase and they did everything to resolve the issue in a timly manner. initially left a 5-star review (still below) because we were very happy with the purchase. Christi and Mike were helpful and low-pressure, and even agreed to split the cost of a windshield repair, which felt fair. My son loved his car and we felt confident with him driving it —until a serious failure occurred less than 3 months later.
Last Thursday, while driving, it suddenly began leaking transmission fluid and became undrivable—an extremely dangerous situation for a new driver. Not to mention how lucky we are that it did not destroy transmission. We had it towed that night. After sitting through Memorial Day weekend, our mechanic checked it first thing Tuesday morning.
The cause? A hose had been knocked loose from the radiator, causing transmission fluid to drain. Why? Because the battery was sliding freely in the engine bay, secured only with a black elastic cord and hook.
We missed this during our own inspection—but I’m shocked that Top Notch’s mechanics also missed it. Whether it was rigged by the previous owner or overlooked by their team, it should never have passed any kind of safety inspection. This wasn’t wear and tear—it was a clear hazard.
As a result, we were left with:
• A $417 repair bill
• A stained driveway requiring $189 in cleaning/sealing (we had it redone last summer)
• Towing fees
• A teenager without transportation for the last week of school and his 17th birthday
Mistakes happen—I understand that. But what’s worse than the issue itself was the lack of accountability and follow-through from Top Notch.
I reached out right away. I was told a manager would call me—no one did. I followed up again and eventually spoke to Edgar. He was polite but questioned if our mechanic might’ve caused the issue, which made no sense. I shared a photo my son had taken before the car was towed—clearly showing the battery unsecured and transmission fluid all over the engine. I also sent the invoice and explained everything.
Edgar said he has his daughter’s graduation party and would get back in the am after speaking with the owner. That was the last I heard. No call. No follow-up. No accountability.
Bottom line: this could have ended much worse. We’re lucky it didn’t. But now we’re left with repair bills, property damage, and lingering concern about what else might’ve been overlooked. A dealership that presents itself as “Top Notch” didn’t take responsibility or even follow through on a promised callback.
We were easy, straightforward buyers who paid cash. I even left them a great review. But when a serious safety issue came up—one that put a new driver at risk—they disappeared.
I recommend looking elsewhere. The car might look great on the lot, but better hope nothing goes wrong as they won’t make it right.

We found the right car at Top Notch on Thursday after an exhaustive search. Took it for a test drive, went home and talked about it, and came back Friday to drive it again and buy it. Each time, we were assisted immediately, not only by the fabulous Christi, but by Mike and, ultimately, Michael. We were well taken care of.
I highly recommend Top Notch in McHenry for all you auto needs. Thank you, Top Notch!

recently went to Top-Notch Auto Brokers to look at a vehicle. was quite expensive for what the vehicle is so i thought it wouldn’t have problems. after an hour drive we come to find it leaking oil, many scratches on the number that were not shown it the photos. also, saleman out front didn’t know anything about the vehicle.
