I had a big part of my ceiling fall down and it was a big mess. Gene came over and fixed it on time and on budget. I have recommended him to my niece for a repair as well.

Gene started off strong, gave me full confidence that he will be able to fix my ornamental plaster crown molding. He came to look at it, and we agreed upon a price. He also insisted on cash ONLY which I thought was suspect. The day he was supposed to show up to perform this work, he cancelled on me at the exact time he said he would be at the property with no explanation other than an emergency popped up the day prior and provided no other solutions or people he recommends to help rectify my issue, knowing that a big problem for me was to find a person that will call back and does residential. To be fair, I can understand emergencies, however to not let me know the day it arose and to tell me that he he would not be able to work on my property at all after I had already taken off work to provide access and help if needed when he knew the day before he would be cancelling is extremely unprofessional and if I could give this man 0 stars I would. Absolutely disgusted with how he runs his business and treats his customers. Thank GOD I didn’t give a deposit.. beware

I reached out for a plaster ceiling repair and was given a quote, but from the start, things felt off. Gene insisted on being paid in cash—$800 in actual paper bills , which already raised a red flag. Then he mentioned the job might take longer than the 5.5 hours I’d be home and suggested I just leave the full amount of cash with him and leave him alone in my house to finish the work. That level of trust might be fine for a long-established contractor with strong references—but not for someone I just met. He also acted like the job was beneath him, complaining that it was “too small” and implying he was doing me a favor. On top of all that, he was available the very next day—during peak remodeling season—which in hindsight only confirms my suspicions. All of it felt wrong. If someone’s that free during a busy time, there’s probably a reason. I walked away, and you should too.

We had can lights installed into our plaster ceiling, and we called a few different companies to get estimates on patching a large section of the ceiling and a few holes in the wall. A couple got back to us and said that they were scheduling many weeks out. Gene Mullowney was able to come out the next day and complete the job, repairing a large section of the ceiling and a few holes in the wall. He worked quickly and performed quality work for a reasonable price considering it was done in less than 24 hrs from the time he returned my call. Would recommend and use in the future for any plaster related work.

I couldn’t be happier with Mullowney's work! He was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and completed the job promptly. His quote was a third of what others offered, and he was able to come the very next day. Excellent service, great price, and top-notch quality. Highly recommend!

Gene repaired badly water-damaged ceiling plaster and lath. He came to our rescue & fixed a long-standing problem in a difficult location to work…where pipes & power lines ran all along the ceiling where he had to repair. He’s a real lifesaver, & we appreciate his hard but quick work!!

I called Mullowney Lath and Plaster to repair some crown mold and ceiling repair. Gene was extremely timely in getting back to me and came within a day to quote the work. I accepted the quote and Gene was able to start the very next day. He came and covered the area with plastic and started his work. It turned out even better than I imagined. Gene left but not before cleaning the area as if no one was there working. I highly recommend Mullowney Lath and Plaster.Services: Plastering

Gene is very responsive. Unlike other contractors, there was no long waiting for a call back or not showing up. We called him on Monday, told him what needed to be done, and he was there on Friday to repair the ceiling. His quality of work is excellent.Service: Ceiling repair

Gene wasn't the cheapest, but he was close, and he gave a really good impression when he came out to quote us.Gave him the job, and even though it ended up being more than he had anticipated he finished work (quality!) and stuck to the agreed price. Excellent work start to finish. Gene is 100% focused on the job and takes the extra measures to keep all your other rooms and furniture protect from dust & excess plaster splatter. He turned the wall of shame to the best wall in the house. We will be using Mullowney Lath & Plaster in the future.

Gene came by while I had plumbing being repaired to check what work would be required post plumbing work, and provide an estimate (estimate was no charge, as he was in the area.) The plumber's work required they cut a 2 foot radius hole, and a 1 foot wide by five foot long stip out of my plaster wall in order to get to the bathroom plumbing. Gene's estimate seemed very fair, and we agreed to it. He showed up promptly the next morning, and set up tarp from the front door to the hole in my wall and just beyond to stay clean. Within a few hours a large hole in my plaster was looking like new. The only thing I provided was to move my stuff out of the way, and pull my hose up to the front so he could use water mix plaster as needed.Overall I am very pleased with his work, price, and general professionalism. I fully intend to keep him on my list of contractors to call whenever I need plaster work done. He clearly knew what he was doing and worked like someone with many years of experience. I also appreciated the tunes while he was working.
