I have been undergoing chemo since April. Finally finished later half of September. I have been unable to eat pork and hamburger especially but many odd and end things such as bread or anything with wheat really. So all of official summer have been unable to enjoy any grilled food. So I never went to alwans before for their lunch menu despite living here all my life. I am disappointed in myself I never tried until last week on the 9th of October! My appetite has been improving (lost 100 pounds since starting chemo) and I can taste things more "normally" again so I have been trying multiple things. So last week I got a cheeseburger, butterfly porkchop sandwich, and a hot dog. I had to have a high protein low carb diet due to the following day needing a PET CT so I took advantage of the protein here... the cheeseburger was ok, but I'm still having slight issues with beef so that may be to blame but the butterfly porkchop sandwich and hot dog were both phenomenal. The porkchop was my favorite sandwich of the trio I bought but all of it was good or very good. I appreciate you for being available this late in the season and it filled in something I missed out on for months. I liked the porkchop and hotdog so much I returned today the 16th for one last time before you stop for the year. I have to rely on others right now to get there or I would be stopping by much more. So thanks for the reasonable pricing and the good food. I will be back for the next time you are grilling again.
For enquiring minds. They go until the first week of November and restart when it starts warming back up, I'm not sure if it is a specific week or month for the reopening.

I've been to nearly every butcher in Central Illinois looking for that perfect place, I do believe I have found it at Alwan and Sons Meat Company.
They have a super friendly helpful staff, and let me tell you a true story that actually happened to me the day that I'm actually typing this out. So me and my fiance go to the counter and we start asking about this cut of me and about other types of me and one guy waited on me and my fiance as we walked around almost every counter that they had asking me if that's all I wanted and when I was finally done I said hey I'm good thank you very much and the guy said no problem. Any other place I would tell them what I want they've wrap it up for me and that be that they wouldn't follow me to another counter or halfway around the store asking me if I found everything I wanted.
Go here, and you'll be glad that you did.
There's a reason why these guys were featured on Shark Tank. It's for outstanding service, quality meats, and products, just like I got today.

Alwans Outdoor Grill NEVER disappoints. Just a couple hot dogs today, but you can't go wrong with whatever they have fresh off the grill. Quick and delicious!
