Had them come to our home to fix a freezer. The freezer drawer was frozen shut. He and his partner able to get the drawer open, but did not take care of the issue of why it froze shut in the first place. Told me to unplug the refridge/freezer for at least 24 hours. Had to put frozen food into coolers. These guys then proceeded to throw dirty ice from the floor into the coolers. Was told to contact them when everything was defrosted and that they would come back to check the drain pipe. Called them back a day later and he acted like everything was done. He did not even check for if there was an problem or a clog. To make matters worse, the water from the freezer drained to the floor behind and adjacent to the unit warping the wooden frame around it. These guys seem like they don't know a thing about how to properly repair a freezer. Had another company come out a month later. That company was able to take the freezer drawer off, diagnose the problem, and fix it in only a few hours.

Called to schedule a repair and phone was abruptly answered and I was told to go ahead and speak- I had 30 seconds. What was that?

I highly recommend Abbott Appliance as an appliance repair shop. When I called, I was informed that it might take up to a week to get someone out to check out my oven door lock problem, but the phone person suggested I contact one of their service men directly who was nearby to see if he could fit me in. I called Jim and he had just finished up his previous appointment and could be over in 15 minutes. I understand this is pure luck and in reality has nothing to do with the 5 stars on this review. Jim's level of service and professionalism upon arrival is why this is a 5 star review. Jim asked me to unplug the stove before he arrived (easily done) so that he could see if he could simply reboot the "computer",. When Jim arrived he got directly on task, (the reboot did not work) he completed several diagnostic tests in short order and informed me that the computer board was fried. He then outlined my options to remedy the situation along with estimated time spans (crucial with the "supply chain" issues we face these days) and in short order I decided to replace the stove with a used stove. I asked Jim if he had any recommendations on brands, as well as stores that might sell used goods with warranties and he provided me that information. Then he asked me how I was going to remove the old stove to the curb, offering the use of a hand dolly and his help if I was interested. I took him up on the offer, we removed the stove to the curb and the new (used) stove was delivered on my preferred date and time. It has been my recent experiences that service technicians (and most service providers for that matter, been through a drive through lately?) view customers and work as an annoyance. Jim absolutely made my day (even though I had to replace an appliance). He was thorough, knowledgeable, professional and helpful.... and was kind enough to help me. If I could give ten stars I would.Service: Stove, cooktop & oven repair

The name of person that shows up to my 80 year old grandmas house was Jim, please do not use his company or services, dishonest, liar and a thief, he Made an estimate for $350 for replacement of the dryer belt, the dryer pulley, and the dryer rotors, he showed up today and never replace any of the parts except the dryer belt, I was there to inspected and notice the same old parts, he was ready to get pay and go for services not Surrendered. Not a honest business at all. Don’t let this person or business in your house. Who knows how many people been victims of this man and they not even know.Service: Washer/dryer repair

Very rude customer service. I bought a house in River Forest and Abbott Appliance was stuck on the door for maintenance. When I called to set up a visit, the rude receptionist says that they dont servivce that area. I tried to explain that you obviously do service this area because your information is on multiple appliiances in this house. Clearly, they do not need the work.

Absolute worst repair person I have ever dealt with. The repair main who showed up was unbelievably rude and nasty. I could not believe someone would act like this. I told him to leave my house and then he threatened me "dont touch me or you wont like what's going to happen". I wish I had his name.Services: Stove, cooktop & oven repair

The women I scheduled with was super helpful. They got me in the same day and she was great at keeping me up to date when the tech would arrive. Jim was great as well, very knowledgeable, professional and seemed like he knew his stuff. Knew right away what was wrong with our washing machine and our Gas Dryer.Service: Washer/dryer repair

Terrible technicians. They replaced a condenser on a refrigerator. The new condenser was very loud and never turned off. I call them back and the idiot technician played d*** and said everything was ok when it was clearly not.

Horrible experience. Our dishwasher wasn't cleaning dishes properly. We called Abbott to repair it. The technician determined that it needed a new part. The part took over a week to come in. When he came back to replace the part, he screweded the side of the dishwasher into a drawer. The drawer was literally "screwed shut." He came back and loosened the screw so that the drawer opened, but then the dishwasher was wobbly. The first time we used the dishwasher after his "repair," we had a huge puddle of water on the floor. When he came back a third time, he told us that there is nothing wrong with the dishwasher and we should put a towel under it when we use it!!!!!! He also raised his voice, was accusatory, defensive and had the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Do not use Abbott Appliance!... Read More

We needed our dishwasher fixed, it stopped draining. We're renting so we weren't sure if it was something we did (a foreign object in the drain or something.) Called Abbot and made an appt between 12-5 and was advised about the $49.95 service call fee. No problem. Jim called at around 3 that day advised he would be there in 20 min. Walked in maybe 15 min later, went straight to the dishwasher, opened the door looked at the standing water and said "It's the pump." My fiance and I asked questions about how he knew and it user error. He immediately launched into "this is a high end appliance and pumps sometimes go out." ... "Looking at this and ask the other appliances, they'll all eventually need some repairs." My fiance and I told him we just wanted to be sure that it wasn't something we did and he never was friendly or even cordial, jumped into "you don't have to pay me if you think I'm lying, but trust me.... It's the pump." We cut it short at that point and paid him. He called the office to make the payment and had her price the pump as it would need to be ordered. The office called me back that day with the pricing but I already knew we wouldn't be using them. I did tell her about his cocky attitude tho. In the meantime we texted our landlord Tuesday before Christmas to tell them it wasn't working. They came out Wednesday and checked it out, asked us to pour some Drano and is that didn't work let them know. It didn't, so they came back Tuesday after Christmas and took apart the hose that leads to the drain under the sink. There was a small plastic object clogging that small pipe!!!! That's all it was!!! This is the type of cockiness that makes people distrust service people! It took all of 15 minutes to take the pipe apart and the object came out. They said they had no idea what they was, maybe a part of the dishwasher. Of we had gone with the repair people, that would have been $350 wasted!

I wish I would've read the reviews before dealing with this company. The first scheduled appointment was from 12-5pm. I waited all day and nobody ever showed up. My phone died for 5 minutes so I figured maybe they called while it was putting it on the charger. I called to reschedule. They gave me the same timeslot. At 430pm I called to see if they were still coming and they said yes. They arrived at 530pm. That lets me know that if I didn't call they wouldn't have showed up and it's more than likely they ditched me the first time. However my major complaint is about the price. I purposely went with them because I was quoted $59.00 for the diagnostic regardless if they could fix it or not. It was $20 cheaper then Sears so I figured it was a good deal. Well he arrived and said that it wasn't getting any power and I needed to call an electrician. My gripe is that they charged me the EXACT same amount as Sears. I tried to explain to him that that's not what the woman quoted but he insisted the $59 was just to come out and not to diagnose the problem. DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE? What was he going to do come out and just look at it. Coming out is for the purpose of diagnosing the problem. I know it's only $20 but I'm extremely upset about it. I could've went with Sears and received better service and possible got it fixed. How can you have a dishwasher that you can't fix the power on even after I said 2x's it wasn't getting any power. I wouldn't be mad if I was charged the amount that was quoted.

Repair man Jim B was rude and condescending to my mother, calling her "sweetheart" in a condescending way as he man splained that he doesnt know when he can schedule a follow up repair saying "that's why I have secretaries". His only interest was collecting the fee to look at the dishwasher, which he barely did. Would highly NOT recommend.Just look at the one reveiw they have on facebook.

Jim was efficient and professional in diagnosing and fixing the washing machine. HQ has room for improvement: They gave a time window but didn't call to update when the tech couldn't make it. They said they'd call 30 min. before the tech arrived but never called. That said, Jim called in advance from his personal cell phone when he arrived back with parts the next day.
