So the Guanajuato Grocery store is a staple in the Mexican/Latin community on that side of town.I had lived in Rockford for YEARS and even though I always hear of it, I never visited until maybe about a year ago. You can find pretty much anything here.I remember when I first walked in, I saw how neatly organized the store was and how stocked it was too, my first impression of the outside was like meh.. not too much to think about, but inside it’s impressive how everything is well stocked and is very clean and organized. They have a bakery where they make DELICIOUS Tres leches cakes, they have a restaurant where everyone swears the tacos are the best in Rockford, and boyfriend loves them and the fact that they have a self serve salsa bar. I’ve had tamales that are very good, food doesn’t disappoint .The workers at the produce section are not messing around, they are fast, friendly and they keep everything stocked and organized, they honestly deserve a raise, I’ve never seen people enjoy what they do as much as them, with big smiles and very helpful when you ask. If I could change anything it would be the customer service on the phone, I recently called and ask if they had tamales available that weekend and the young girl said yes and hung up. I wasn’t done speaking and hung up on me as I was asking a second question.Something to mention as far as parking, it is located on an iffy side of town, but it’s somewhat safe to stop by in the mornings or early afternoons, parking unfortunately has imperfections and trash all over. Sometimes there are not parking spaces left to park in, so if you’re handicap or in a rush, plan to get there with enough time just in case there isn’t anything available right away. Hoping for a better, well lit parking lot in the future.I highly recommend Guanajuato for anyone looking for Mexican meds, good tamales, cakes and food from the restaurant area. The pricing for canned goods and grocery items are a bit up there, I normally go somewhere else for that. I still give it a 5⭐️ rating for all the neat finds within the store.Parking: I’d be careful going in alone at night, lighting is okay, but could be better.

They changed something on the al pastor tacos recipe, and are not near as good as they used to be, they went from fenomenal to meh. The asada wasn't the greatest either. Looks like we'll be looking for a new taqueria, and that stinks, ? because we used to love the tacos here.

Is a nice place, the conchas are the best. The food is ok. Expensive like others mexican store but you can find everything. I wish they put a little puertorrican section like Chiquita but is ok. Also the food in the restaurant is good. The service in the check out is really nice, nice people working there.

I went to the restaurant in the service was good The sauces were available for the burrito I had. Nobody inside was offending or confrontational like you get some places that don't have the Spanish clientele. It was pleasant I should have walked through the grocery store but there were a lot of products that probably I couldn't read or understand cuz I don't speak and read Spanish. Or for Latino market it probably serves their community really well. The restaurant side was nice too.

If you want to try mexican ?? this is the best place to do it. The carnitas tacos was a-m-a-z-i-n-g and the red salsa uff delicious. Plus they have a huge variety of vegetables in the market area ,we went there from Rochelle and we take 25 minutes to reach the place but it was worth it.

Always a guilty pleasure. I would hose down my steak tacos in the red sauce with utter glee. Precisely 2 hours later I would be dying inside, but always well worth it. If you want a good mix of pleasure and pain, please eat here!

A hidden gem in Rockford that's worth the trip.. This is the most authentic Mexican food that I've had since being in Mexico, one of the most beautiful countries that I've had the pleasure to visit. Give it a try and you'll be amazed by the flavors that are most likely family recipes, how can you go wrong with that... The huge menu was a bit to take in on my first visit but take a moment to look it over. There's something that will interest you without worrying if you're going to enjoy it or not, it's all amazing. Just wish you could get a cold Beer or even Margareta Go now..... if you want to eat...

I wasn't here long enough, to just grab a snack. Everyone was pleasant. I love the diversity in my neighborhoods. The store is cozy, clean, with lots to choose from!
