Hey y’all, you need to remember where this place is, almost everyone in Rockford passes it several times a month if not several times a week.
You need to hit the brakes, pull in the parking lot, walk inside order a sandwich with side orders or awesome meat packages to go.
You won’t be disappointed…!!!

Absolutely fantastic lunch, meats, and most importantly people. Could not recommend them highly enough. Do yourself a favor and stop in and check them out if you aren't already a loyal customer. Check all the rest of the reviews and you'll notice they are rated 4.9, and the couple reviews that aren't a 5 are written as though they loved the joint. Bottom line, there isn't anything not to love about Meads.

Mr Russ Mead opened the meat market in the mid-1940s, and my parents began shopping there shortly after they moved to Rockford from Chicago. Not only are the meats superior, but the personal service is stellar. Although I never met Mr Russ Mead, his son and grandson remember their customers by name AND not only remember the customers' usual orders, but also suggest products they might like to try. They are willing to make special orders, and suggest cooking tips if asked. Their catering service is wonderful. I love to get their barbeque sandwiches, but I always ask them to give me the bread and put the meat in a container...the sandwiches are so huge that I usually eat them over three days!

You really need to stop by Mead's a couple of times a month and make them part of your regular grocery shopping routine. There is no place in the Rockford area that treats meat better. From the perfectly juicy corned beef sandwich I had today, to the hard-to-find whole pheasant for last Christmas, this is your place. Ryan will cut your ribeye steaks just as thick as you like, and his dad practically invented seasoning. All you need after that is a cast iron skillet! The Meads have served the Rockford area for generations and have great working relationships with many businesses. Every dollar you spend here not only supports this great butcher shop, but also the local farms that supply them. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

I picked up some T-bones, and chicken breast for our family’s dinner and I’ll tell you what… you’re not going to get the same quality at Walmart, Sam’s, or any other corporation. This is by far the Best Meat Market I’ve been to in years.Customer service was excellent … fyi …they season your meats for you which I absolutely loved . Get home, chill the meat for an hour or two and they’re ready to smoke,grill etc

Great local meat market. Super friendly staff. We were greeted right when we got in the door. Deli meat was delicious. Will definitely be back.
