“My teen really enjoyed coming here for boxing and Muah Thai. Their classes are very intense and disciplined. The coaches are all wonderful. My son’s favorite class was instructor Jose’s boxing class. The owners Richard and Kelly are really kind and treat you like family. I highly recommend Maximus Muah Thai for boxing, Muah Thai, Brazilian Jui-Jitsu.”

“The facility is new, clean with new equipment. I particularly like the gym that is surrounded by windows with a lot of natural light. The overall atmosphere is family oriented with a lot of activities for kids.”

“I’ve been to a lot of gyms throughout my fitness journey: Planet Fitness, XSport, Lifetime Fitness, even at home setups. None of these solutions have ever been helpful for me. Sometimes it’s anxiety, other times it’s motivation. The American Heart association recommends at least 30 minutes of vigorous activity every day to make sure your heart stays health. I don’t do that at all. With high cholesterol, diabetes, and more cardiovascular conditions running in the family, I need to figure out a solution that works for me.When my close friend posted on Instagram that he took his 300th class at OrangeTheory, I immediately asked him about it. At a first glance, OrangeTheory seemed very intimidating and daunting. My friend reassured me and told me to try it, but it didn’t make my anxiety any better. At the time of writing this review, OTF had a free class promotion going on.I decided that health is an investment and why not just try the free class? I have a lot to learn.I booked the nearest location near me and gave it a shot. The studio is beautiful, modern, and orange. Literally orange. From the lobby to the dimly lit orange fitness center. Everything here is ORANGE. Which totally fits the theme of the brand. The intake forms are very quick. Basic info, emergency contact, billing information. Once you’re done, you get a tour of the studio as well as a personal introduction from staff, coaches, and an explanation of how OrangeTheory works. This is going to sound weird, but OrangeTheory feels like a workout academy and we are all the students. At the end of the tour and explanation, we are given heart rate monitors and sent off into the studio. The coaches welcome everyone in with positivity and cheering. You then get sectioned off on either “the floor” (rowing/weights) or the “the treads” (treadmill, elliptical, bikes). Your heart rate monitor is connected to all the machines in the room. Walk up to a machine, tap your name, and you see your heart rate as well as what “color” you are. (Gray, Blue, Green, Orange, Red). Gray is heart at rest pace. Red is the heart at the highest performance in can go. Orange is the sweet spot. The more time you spend in orange, the more calories you burn, the more your body is working harder.Coaches never leave you alone fully. They are always talking to you through microphones. If you are on the treadmill, they will make you switch between different phases of pace. (Base, Push, All Out). The technology has “recommendations” of what these mean for incline and speed, and it’s up to you to decide what works for you. The treadmills allow for power walking, jogging, and running. It’s totally up to you for what you want to do. I do power walking.Floor exercises are guided. Coaches will demo each weight training exercise, and then they will put up a TV that shows looped videos side by side of what the exercises are doing followed by instructions like “repeat these until the coach tells you otherwise”. You are allowed to rest/refill water/bathroom anytime. The class switches groups halfway through, everyone is obligated to clean their machines with wipes. And then everything starts over again until the end of class, which ends with a recovery yoga stretch followed by community events. My OrangeTheory experience wasn’t what I expected at all. As someone with social anxiety, coming into this class scared me, but I had an amazing time. The gamification of weight loss, the “school/academy” structure and community, the stats and challenges you can see on the TV and app, literally everything here that you pay for is a streamlined and fun experience. I was very surprised by the experience here and I learned a lot in the process.Thank you OTF Roselle for the amazing experience.”
