I’ve been a customer at CCU for more than 10 years now and until today, I’ve never had anything negative to say about them. I went into the Round Lake Branch today to deposit a check that had been signed over to me. I had all the necessary identification for both parties. After having made me wait for almost 10 minutes, they came back stating that they couldn’t do it because it was a government check. Now, mind you, I WORK FOR THE GOVERNMENT, myself. Hence, this is why I made it a point to have all the identification to verify both parties.All of the checks that go into my account are from the US Government. Once I complete my obligations with them, I’ll be looking for another financial institution to do business with. Being a US Naval Vet, I think it’s time I checked in with Navy Federal Credit Union.

Besly from loans:I call to ask some questions for my fiancé who is a little shy when it comes to stuff about banks. I call to get some rough info while at work and she explains that she is WILLING TO HELP. I go and give the news to my fiancé that she can call her directly and get help with her problem…NOT!!!She tells my fiancé she has to fill out a form and submit it before she can speak with her and that the form has been sent to the “email on file” which is governed by people we don’t want this info getting out to…. But nope no answer and she rushes her off the phone and as my fiancé asks “where is the email being sent to” she gets a cutoff remark and told “goodbye” as she promptly hangs up.Rudest service I’ve ever experience

If I could give negative stars it would be at -5 stars worse decision I have ever made was to refinance with this company. I HATE THIS COMPANY AND IM STUCK WITH IT. NEVER GO WITH THEM!!!

My credit card gets declined whenever I try to make a purchase under $10. There’s no way to turn off fraud detection. They say it’s because when someone steals your card they usually try to buy cheap things to make sure the card works. Normal stores that I use every week. A bag of apples or a charger on Amazon. There needs to be a fix.

I have been with Consumers for more than 15 years and have always let issues go. However, I am now changing to another credit union. I was laid off during the pandemic and had numerous emails reflecting these conversations between myself and multiple employees at Consumers. There are two dings on my credit for a late payment during covid. I requested they remove it due to hardships as I am now purchasing a home and interest rates are incredibly high (that little bit impacts everything). Not only did Consumers refuse to remove it or help in any way, but they also called me a liar and said I never reported I was laid off or experiencing hardships. I forwarded the emails and stopped getting any response whatsoever. I have started the process of switching to another credit union and started my mortgage loan through them. Avoid this credit union at all costs if customer service is important to you.

Very unhappy with this company, they use misleading and backally practices to extend loans...borrowed 15000 and will end up paying 30000...do not do business with these people...

I was thinking of refinancing my auto ? loan with then. Prior to the call ? I've been doing business with them for years. I was upset that in order to take advantage of their 2.49%, an individual has to be around 780 or higher in credit score in order to qualify.My credit fell short by a few points and rates change on Monday after Juneteenth of 2022. And, by falling short it jumps to 2.89% when my rate is at 2.99%Didn't make sense to run my credit for a miserable .10%.I'll still shop around.

Terrible customer service on the phone and all I have are problems with the line of credit automatic payments, I set the auto payment the I get an email and later a mail saying that I’m enrolled the with in weeks I receive I mail saying that I’m unenrolled and by that time my payment is late and I have to pay 30.00 dollars for late payment.This is so wrong.Ready to change bank

Terrible business practice and terrible customer experience.Refinanced my car with CU and it took the person MONTHS to not only complete my loan after endless amounts of calls with no resolution. Javier offered me a credit into my new account for the trouble, but NEVER saw that credit.Now as I called to pay off my loan, they took out TWICE the amount that I had authorized them for the loan!!

Worst bank ever. Paid off my mortgage and never received paperwork been approx 5 years. Still waiting. Called multiple times with no resolution. Asked for allocation change on my direct deposit was a big issue said I would need to sign a document for completion but I have not received. Not customer focused bank. Stay away...

Ever since they updated their website I am unable to make a payment online for my car loan. I try to call and make a payment through phone but can never get through to anyone. Consumers credit union does not make it easy for the consumer at all.

Although Consumers Credit Union has not been without issues, some of which I've taken up the ladder to their executives to address, I appreciate keeping my banking local, being able to go into my local branch and talk to the same personnel, and NOT having to deal with the large, banking institutions.

As usual, put on hold for 25 minutes and finally I hung up. They will let you apply for a call back but when I did that, they didn't call me back until about five hours later. My account had been compromised and I needed immediate help. Just so disappointed in the credit union these days.
