Great company, always shows up 20 times faster than Ameren ever did, and cheaper. Thank you!

We purchased 2 lots with a transformer in the middle. We contacted Southwestern Electric Coop. about moving the transformer so it wasn't directly in front of our future house. They gave us a proposal to relocate the transformer, and they requested advance payment to schedule the work order. We paid the invoice on October 14, 2022. The estimated lead time was 4-5 weeks. They did not start my job until January 27, 2023. They were there for one day and left it incomplete for two full weeks. When they came back out to complete the job, they set the transformer and the "basement" platform it sits on about 2 feet above grade. When I challenged them on the placement, they informed me that they could not set the transformer level with the grade (as it was before they moved it) because it was now sitting on top of THEIR OWN conduit. When I asked why they did not leave themselves more room, or better yet, move it to the side a few feet to clear the conduit, the manager on site told me to contact their engineering department. I have called multiple times, sent multiple emails, included pictures, and I have not received a response or reasonable explanation from anyone at Southwestern Electric Coop. Side note: Spectrum also moved their services promptly, with no issues, and set their box level with the grade as it should be. --UPDATE-- Two members of their leadership team met with me in person to inspect the issues. We came up with a reasonable solution, and once the work is done, it should resolve the problems.

Very slow to restore power and almost any storm knocks out power.

Don’t sneeze too loud or your power will go out.

This company is terrible! We bought a lot in Maryville. We bought the first lot sold in phase 2 of a fully developed subdivision. We had no idea that there would be a problem getting power to our house. We purchased the lot in June 2021. The house is sitting there half finished waiting on power. The contractor is working with this company to get power to the house. So far, no luck.Just not sure what we can do…call a news station? My advice is if you are building, make sure you are not using Southwest Electric!

Terrible, terrible service. So tired of power going out all the time. Our subdivision has part Ameren and part SWE (not sure why we aren't all on Ameren) and SWE customers are the only ones affected by power outages. Disheartening to see neighbors all around me with power!

Huge rip off to consumers, monopoly from changing away from them. WHY do communities continue to put up with their BS?

We are SWE coop member and have been on the waiting list for old poles for over 6 years now. They apparently only give them to friends. Also very poor customer relations when there is a problem. They like to give you the run around. Good old boys club. 2019, tree trimmers came out, cut our trees so the neighbor could put a new roadway in. We explained that they were going to put in underground electric but they cut for them anyway. They put huge ruts in our yard and "Mike" says he doesn't see them. Lol, he'll see them in court.

I just called SWE to report a street light outage in my neighborhood. Both ladies that I spoke with were very friendly and helpful.

Customer service should be addressed- it’s business 101. Teach your representives to be kind and courteous to your customers. There’s no reason to be rude to people calling to get basic information. I’d avoid this company if you have the option to.

Horrible company not to mention there customer service and prices of daily use for electric is insane wish we had other options for the area we live in..

Highest prices around unfortunately you have no options to leave and they know as they keep driving up the price of electric due to a mismanaged company. They sign contracts for electric to be provided to them for a set price for years and right away the price of electricity drops substantially and as consumers we have to pay for their inability to run a company correctly.

Customer service was horrible on the phone. The lady was rude and not helpful in getting service connected. I'm a new resident to IL, I would switch electric companies if at all possible.
