I have always enjoyed shopping at Dick’s Sporting Goods, usually visiting the Schererville, IN, or Lincoln Park, Chicago locations. Every time I go, I am greeted warmly, and the staff is always eager to help, which plays a big role in why I keep coming back.
Today, I visited the Schaumburg, IL, location for the first time and was excited since it has two floors. I was looking for a bike lock, so I went upstairs to the bike section. As I searched for the item, I noticed two employees nearby talking to each other. When I approached, they simply said “hi” and continued their conversation, not offering any assistance. It was clear that I was looking for something, yet they made no effort to help or even acknowledge that I might need assistance.
This experience was disappointing because I have come to expect great customer service from Dick’s Sporting Goods, and this visit left a bad impression. I wanted to share my experience because I truly enjoy shopping at Dick’s and appreciate the excellent service I usually receive at other locations. I hope this feedback helps improve the level of service at this store.

Fantastic fishing gear shopping experience. Joey in the fishing department not only guided me towards all of the amazing deals like buy 3 get 3 free on a variety of companies’ gear, but also took the time to discuss details about all of the lures that I was interested in (such as action, color, plastic/lure/rod pairing, and when/where to use them) with pure passion for the sport. He was extremely busy but still made sure to check in on me and answer my questions while tending to his other duties around the store which I really appreciated. By the time I left I got around $800 worth of gear for $466 by utilizing all of the deals that Dicks had with the help of Joey pointing me in the right direction. Matthew at the checkout counter was super patient and made sure that all of the discounts were applied as he scanned nearly 100 items. Matthew then helped me get a Dicks credit card setup which gave me so many points to use for future purchases; and staff like Joey, ones who have real passion and knowledge about the gear they are selling, has ensured that I will consistently visit the Schaumburg DSG for all of my fishing, camping and other sports gear in the near future. Aside from the fishing gear Joey was also able to quickly answer questions I had regarding other outdoor adventure products that Dicks holds such as kayaks, coolers, knives and cooking equipment. I will absolutely be back to continue discussing these things with him as I am in the market to buy many of those items as well.

I had problem ordering online the night before the two day extra twenty five percent off clearance ended. The product I wanted to purchase was added to the cart. Problem is, the cart would not let me ship to me or pick up at the store. The coupon stated that in bold face "ONLINE ONLY". Very frustrated, I decided to go to the store personally and talk someone who could help. I explained everything to an employee and they called Duerk the supervisor. Duerk listened to what happened to me and said I can take care of you. Duerk offered exceptional customer service and told me to go to cashier where Jeremy was working. I really enjoyed this Dicks Schaumburg location. In the past three years, we have driven farther to this location just to shop. This Dicks rocks with customer service and a friendly staff.

Just went to the store and a employee name Cassandra at the register truly went above and beyond to located my Christmas order and facilitated a seamless exchange for my daughter. Her kindness customer service made this even more special. Thank you, Cassandra!

I saw that this location had the North Face Men's ThermoBall Traction Mule V Slippers in a size 12 in stock for store pickup (2 left). I ordered store pickup, got home, tried them on, and noticed they had given me a size 12 and 9... I went to return them two days later (due to the holiday), and the employee returning them wanted to give me a hard time, calling the manager over to try and convince them they may have been worn. They are two different sizes. Why and how would I even wear them? I wouldn't have returned them if they were both 12's!
Definitely would not recommend buying from this store if there's even the slightest inkling an item may be returned. It shouldn't be an anxious experience to think the retail store that gladly accepts our money is skeptical to take returns of their own product. Would not shop here again.

This is a large place. Schaumburg has a notoriously packed area in and around the mall, yet this store feels wide open even when it’s busy.
The place has 2 large floors and signage is clearly marked. The open concept helps shoppers find stuff from across the room.
I visited two days before Christmas and even though it was busy, the store felt open and welcoming.
The working lot sits a few hundred cars and had open spaces when I visited.

I came in today, a Tuesday around 4:30 pm, wanting to return something and I went up the the cash register, asking if I was able to return a product if I didn’t buy it at the location since I know some stores are finicky about returns. Instantly she cuts me off assuming that I’m just walking in to return a product that I picked off the streets, and when I clarify without her cutting me off she states that I confused her and as I’m putting the product down I see that she rolls her eyes very obviously as I take out the receipt. Then as we are continuing with the return she then very rudely tells me how every store in retail accepts returns regardless of where I bought it. At this point I didn’t want to argue because she had already cut me off twice when I just tried to say “I was just making sure”. I have never felt so disrespected before and I still tried to be kind throughout all of our exchange only for her to continue to be condescending and rude. I can’t tell if it was because she was having a bad day or because she might’ve even racially profiled me. Regardless, I will not be coming back here. Horrible customer service.

I would give this store 0 if I could I don’t know how this place is open and I do t know why I’ve tried this place more then once one time I called phone just Rand for 10 minutes no answer so I go for some shoes and of course I waited longer then I did on the phone waiting for help so three employees a few sections over laughing and playing while I stood there waiting for help witch didn’t come so there was a help phone over there picked it up and it proceeded to ring forever as well do your self a solid and don’t waste your time or your mental well being with this store

Bad customer service would not accept black hoodie brand new with the tag on it due to there being a small amount of lint on it. Said if we left, bought a lint roller, and cleaned it ourselves they would take another look. Also wouldn’t accept the gentleman’s shoe return in front of us because he tried them on and wasn’t the right size. Save yourself the hassle and go do returns at another location that cares about their customers.

Had to wait in line for 30 minutes come by between the return desk and checkout. Multiple associates were just hanging around the floor while customers are waiting. Compared to other locations this one just seems to be mismanaged. Very disappointed.

Hard to find someone to help you. The store was messy. I went to do an exchange, had my online order receipt, was asked 3x when I placed the order (Dec 4 and that was on the receipt) and was then told I was on a “do not return” list - have no idea why nor could they tell me. Both items never worn, had tags still on and were opened on Christmas. Tried to return Dec 27. Didn’t do the exchange or buy the extra items I was going to. I won’t go in this store again.

Some stores are too big for their own good. There are no employees walking around helping people, and no one greeting at the door to help. Finally found someone to help me and they went to check in the back for something. 15 minutes later they never came back…

It’s been a month, they can’t get any tennis string that is reasonable, Their shipment never came in. My rackets have been sitting there for over a month! It took over an hour just to write up an order, walk around different levels, different registers, and now my racket still are not done! A total waste of time. However, they suggested I order my own string, bring it in ti them,and waste a couple more hours of my time because they are not supplied with enough reasonable Tennis Rackets string! very disappointed I would never go here to get my tennis racket, strung!!!!
Terrible customer service. No one even called to let me know what was going on. This is a sporting store this should never been an issue!!!!
