I had a very disappointing experience at Zara today. Before coming to the store, I called Zara customer service, and the representative clearly told me that I could go to any store -not necessarily Woodfield Mall -and that they would do their best to help me. Unfortunately, that turned out to be untrue.
I came to return a pair of pants I had bought for my daughter, which had a very obvious manufacturing defect: one pant leg was noticeably shorter than the other. We didn’t notice it earlier because we bought them ahead of time and kept them in the drawer until the weather got colder. When my daughter finally wore them to school, I realized something was wrong.
At the register, the cashier — a young woman with short hair — treated me with a very negative and dismissive attitude. Instead of helping, she made me feel like she was doing me a favor. I asked to exchange the pants for the same model, but they only had them online. She repeated several times that they were accepting the return “only because it’s a defect,” which felt completely unnecessary and humiliating. I wasn’t returning them without a reason — it was clearly a factory flaw.
I stood there feeling embarrassed and ashamed. People in the line were glancing at me, and it felt like she was scolding me as if I were a child. After being told by customer service that any store would “do their best,” this experience was extremely disappointing. They certainly did not try to do what was best for the customer.

Horrible experience shopping here. The staff were very rude and not helpful at all, and the quality was terrible. First time shopping here and I promise it’s my last time too.

Service especially on weekends are so so horrible , 30 min on a line and nobody at ALL even care about customers and nobody even 1 person can make return or purchase , like HOW??? WHY ALL people just wait when service standing in front DOING NOTHING?

Horrible customer service, people seem miserable to be there. Everyone is unwilling to help… multiple lines of people and one one open register while employees are just walking around

Love the store itself but terrible customer service. Slowest checkout ever. Took 20 min for a return when 2 people where in line in front. Took his sweet time hanging everything up instead of working with urgency. Not going to this location again.

Workers are mostly Russian and extremely prejudiced, followed me around the entire time as I was shopping for my girls. It’s truly sad that these are the times we still live in years later. Made a complaint to the store manager who is a woman of colored but mixed. Seemed to care, but I highly doubt if she said anything to the lady as they always seem to side with their employees.
