We used to be patients here until recently that changed. It breaks our hearts having to make the decision to no longer come due to the experience we received from the staff. We were told they can no longer help treat our dog’s health issue and wasn’t allowed to speak to anyone but a receptionist that wasn’t knowledgeable about the health record. We asked to speak to her vet and was told she would call us, but didn’t receive a call or any form of communication once we requested records to be transferred to a different vet. It saddens us since we put a pet down here a few years ago and had a great experience until now. I wouldn’t recommend bringing your pets here. The prices are unreasonable as well with trying to get an appointment. Very unprofessional with the staff and how our situation was handled.

Absolutely terrible way to do business. They made an appointment for my dogs ear, didn’t even look into his ear because he’s a German shepherd they wanted him muzzled. He wasn’t barking or growling. Just scared. They told me that his ear got water in it probably and gave me something for yeast. I brought him home and he didn’t get better so I made another appointment. Gave him gabapentin the night before and the day off they still wouldn’t look in his ears. Gave me a tube of nystatin. The vet said it might be food allergies. Mind you I paid 400$ for these two visits. I brought him across the street a month later to the other shorewood vet. They looked in his ears and said he has an outer ear infection. I called ands asked for my money back since they did nothing they told me no. My dog had an ear infection for three months.

We recently had to say goodbye to our family dog. The staff here could not have been more supportive and sympathetic for the entire process. Thank you for the care and comfort of our buddy.

Heard about the rampant abuse of animals at their Plainfield location, where they would brag about dogs cowering in their cages in terror and roughing up the scared animals and abusing them when they acted out of fear. AVOID THIS CHAIN AT ALL COSTS!Anyone who abuses an animal is scum and they will rot in hell.

I was in a bind looking for a new vet for two new puppies I had gotten due to an issue with my old vets office over puppy records not getting to them 48 hours in advance which I didn’t know about until 24 hours prior to my appt. Anyway, I called Wednesday to get in and they got me in that Friday. When I showed up for the appointment, I was having one of those days where if it could go wrong, it did. I thought I could handle bringing two almost 9 week old German shepherds in all by myself but clearly I overestimated my abilities lol. The staff saw me struggling, helped bring them in and were so nice and sweet and chatty the whole time. The tech was awesome and the vet informative. Upon check out the staff was kind and someone helped take the puppies to my car. I am excited to have a new vets office. Thank you for being so kind today.

Absolutely wonderful and friendly office. Dr Bob is thorough and very caring and took the time to explain different treatment options for our girl.

Was told I was able to leave a deposit for appointment. For the same day. Now they say they can't. Never been there. And never will. Would never recommend this place!

I am giving Animal Care Center of Shorewood 3 stars, because our experience with this office wasn't all negative. When my husband and I got our cat in the summer of 2018 and then rescued our very anxious Pit that same year; this was where we brought both of our fur babies for their care. We had a wonderful experience from the front end staff, to kennel staff, to groomers and technicians. Our babies were so loved and cared for by all. Dr. Buchanan and Dr. K were amazing with our Pit (even though she didn't like Dr. B because he is a man). Dr. K was so kind, caring and compassionate. She was so accommodating to our Pit's special needs and really went above and beyond to make sure that she was comfortable and cared for during her visit to reduce her anxiety. And Shelly; Shelly was and still is just absolutely incredible. She LOVES our babies and she always made sure to give them extra loving (especially our Pit) when we saw her there.Where things really went downhill was after the pandemic hit. Please let me preface with this: the pandemic affected everyone and I don't put blame on anyone for shortcomings that occurred as a result of the pandemic. Everyone struggled during that time with figuring out how to operate safely, had to navigate staffing shortages (and still do to this day), etc.Dr. K left the practice in late 2020-ish, which was a huge loss. Dr. Halad was the other female option, which we made sure to schedule with her any time our Pit needed to be seen since she struggled with Dr. B. I wasn't a huge fan of Dr. Halad and her approach, but our Pit needed to see a female. After this, I recall on a few separate occasions having an appointment where I was checked in and waiting in the car with one of my fur babies to be seen and receiving a call to inform me that an emergency was coming in, so my appointment would be delayed. I have absolutely no problems with that and understand emergencies happen. I am happy to wait so that another critical patient can be seen and treated. What did upset me and resulted in us ultimately leaving this facility was when I called them one time in the summer of 2021. Our pit's tail was bleeding, blood splattering everywhere any time she moved her tail (which was constant). I remembered those times that my appointment was delayed because others came in with emergencies so while my husband and I are frantically trying to get our shoes on to rush out the door with her I decided to call the vet. I explained that her tail was bleeding and she needed to be seen, so we were on our way. I was told that they weren't accepting walk-ins because they are full with appointments, but that I could make an appointment. Why would I make an appointment when my dog's tail splatters blood every time it moves and we have no idea why, what happened or how to stop it? It was the most ridiculous suggestion. I explained the times I needed to wait to be seen while others came in with emergencies and was told that I needed to go to the Plainfield location, even though they were open and could have taken us right away like those times they did that for others. We did go to Plainfield and were told it was Happy Tail Syndrome. We have been going to the Plainfield location ever since because they provided us with outstanding care and continue to do so. We had to amputate her tail unfortunately after trying different ways to treat the injury, but she is happy and healthy now with her little nub!!So, although we once loved this location and always received great care, it was unfortunate that in this situation they couldn't have done for us what they did for others who came in with emergencies by pushing appointments back.I'm not suggesting to not go here, but that really did speak volumes to us as we were loyal to this clinic. We never caused problems, were always patient and understanding when we needed to wait longer than expected and it was disheartening that when our baby needed immediate attention; we couldn't get the same care for her that others were able to ge

When this office first opened up, it was a great addition to the area and we were thrilled to see it. We registered our pets there, signed up for their wellness plan and have been there ever since...until this week. Over the last 6 months it has been impossible to get an appointment without waiting for weeks. We ended up having to take our dog to the emergency room last week because of this and today a new situation came up and my other dog needs to be seen today and again they can't get her in for weeks. So enough's enough. I canceled my wellness plan, which I was sternly corrected about when I called it pet insurance over the phone ,"it's not pet insurance ma'am. It's a wellness plan. It doesn't guarantee an appointment." Very disappointing. It was a very convenient location and the doctors were nice... But my pet's health is more important to me than staying loyal to a vet's office that simply doesn't care enough about my pet's welfare to squeeze in an appointment.

I can’t thank Animal Care Center enough on their compassion when we had to say goodbye to our Isabelle(Bella). The staff had so much compassion and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye ??. Thank you Dr. Buchanan and staff?

Friendly staff that knew exactly what my pup needed. The vet was so kind; she heard out my concerns and knew what the next steps were. She recommended my aging dog some very needed medication for pain and inflammation. She had asked the front desk to make sure they get me a packet on ACL surgery exercises to help my dog's hip dysplasia and arthritis. When the front desk forgot to hand it to me, they actually called and asked if it was okay if they email it to me! I did run into the problem that the medication was going to be too expensive for me to refill. When I called the office, although they didn't have any alternatives, they were willing to give me suggestions on how to find the medication for a lower price. When I did, they received the order and gave it the go. I appreciate it so much. I have already recommended this place to everyone I know. (:
