I heard a change in the sound of my exhaust. Brought my car to the motor doc for an inspection. They were very busy, but they gave me the results of the inspection within 2 hours. However the issue was explained incorrectly over the phone. They said I needed a muffler and quoted me $350. I talked them down to $280, but decided to take my car to Oxbo muffler in Joliet instead as they quoted me $140 for a new muffler (2013 Honda Civic). Oxbo showed me the issue and decided to save the muffler by just rewelding the broken pipe back together. ended up only paying $60.

Never again worst customer service I was told I was never welcome because Allen was rude to me and my wife . I was also told that after the broke off almost all my bolts in my undercarriage cover that zip ties are used so customers can get out faster. So I asked you lower your standards after 4pm thanks but no thanks . I drop more than $10,000 between years of oil and car repairs for me and my wife . I am amazed at you Doc Motors . Shame on you and all your staff . I wish I could give them No stars.Services: Air & cabin filter replacement

1965 Ford FalconMy experience was not as great as I had hoped. Scott introduced himself and I told him of my auto problems. My mechanics were booked solid for a few more weeks. Told him I had a vintage auto with a more updated engine. Assured me that he had a few guys that worked on the older ones. I had it brought in on a flatbed and called a few times to get updates and to add a few things to check on that being a resto-mod classic car. There is a group of guys that have the same car and engine lineup as mine and I participated with Alan to give him a few things to look at since the were looking at the computer. Since they did not know where the OOBD1 port was they were looking at pulling in a Ford expert who was able to build a breakout box to test the computer. At this time I was already $248 and nothing notably was found wrong. I was also told I was a pain in the ass for calling daily on the prognosis. Alan said he would get back to me. The next day was told the cost would be I believe around $350 ( I might be off a few) for the Ford expert just to take a gamble it was the computer. I would now be at around $600 and that was not assuring it would help. I refurbished module is around $650 and then of course labor. Potentially I was looking at close to $1200....... At this point I arranged to pay my bill and have my car put on a flatbed and taken to a different location. My total bill was $356 and my car was in the same situation as when I had it pulled in. Nobody called, asked why, no follow up to understand what could be done. My usual mechanics made room and took it in. I got a call about an hour later that the computer was indeed bad and I had a regulator that needed to be replaced and a hose that might have been letting in air. Computer was diagnosed in 15 minutes when they opened it and saw that 2 blue capacitors were blown and leaking on the board. These capacitors signal the pulse to spray the injectors with gas. It did not take a Ford expert to connect to anything. It took my usual mechanic with a screwdriver to open the lid and find the problem which was relayed to Alan when it was brought in that this very well could be something to look into straight away. I am not upset but out of a few hundred dollars to "poke" at the issue instead of listening. It was made known that this was a different situation. It was not. It was simply a 1993 Mustang motor in a different chassis. Problem would have been equal had it been in a 1993 Mustang body. No port or special expert was needed here. Just 2 minutes of things to listen to and check out before the cookie cutter approach was used. -Brian

My first experience with this garage, and it wasn’t exactly good. I opted to wait while I got an oil change, and tire rotation. That took 2 hours. Far too long for those 2 services. Staff were very friendly, informative, and professional. I will give them a second chance soon with my second vehicle. Hopefully the first time was a fluke.Services: Tire rotations

We have been using Doc Motor Works for several years. I brought in our Saturn for repair. Long story short, I was informed by Allen that the repairs would be more than the vehicle was worth, not to mention all the rust on the bottom. ( the pictures were eye opening)Allen took care of securing the best return for my Saturn. I appreciated him handling the details. Over the years this has been our experience with everyone at Doc Motor Works. Honest, friendly, professional and integrity are just a few words that come to mind when describing Doc Motors.

We have been going to Doc’s for years because they are thorough, honest, and stand behind their work. We moved away but keep going back to Doc’s as we tried someone else and they misled us on a simple repair. Doc’s has never done this to us. Two days ago they had my daughter come back as the check engine light went on after a repair last week. They took the car in immediately when she got there, examined the issue and resolved the problem with a new part, no charge for the inconvenience! Highly recommend them!

I was very impressed with Doc Motors. The receptionist was very helpful and the oil change I had done, with with the multi point inspection, gave me peace of mind that all of my essential fluids were checked and filled and I was on my way in 1 hr. The waiting room was fantastic and if you bring your child with you ,there is a fantastic play area with books for them to read and toys to play with. All in all I will say I will be back for my routine maintenance and ,hopefully, not too soon any other work that my car might need. Thank you one and all for a great experience.

I've been a steady customer of Doc's for a few years now. I always found you guys to be good, fair, and prompt. However, I needed an exhaust pipe welded back up...the hangers had broken. You guy said you don't do that. I found a small shop, relatively new start up, nearby. They did the job for $100...far less than Midas or any of the chain muffler shops would charge. I might be inclined to use them for everything else now. I wish you could've done that pipe.

That were the best. Let me know what they were doing and what they had found if anything was found. I will return my car to them if anything lease needs repair. Much more personable than the car dealership.Services: General repairs & maintenance

Oil change and tire repair were requested. Refused to repair my 3 month old tire because the nail was on the tread about a half inch from the edge. No good reason. Instead they were trying to sell me a $270 replacement when I was able to buy 2 identical tires with installation for under $200. Will patch the leaking tire myself once it's off the wheel.

I brought my 2011 VW cc to Docs Motor Works to repair an oil leak and was charged $4700. I am a senior citizen and was having health issues at the time, so I went along with it even though it seemed exorbitant. The repair is under warranty, but they will not even speak to me about honoring it. I have filed complaints with The Attorney Generals Office and The Better Business Bureau, but they have no authority to force compliance. My only option is legal action which is impractical and time consuming. It is a shame their is no recourse for customers who are treated unfairly.

Have a 1990 Brougham that had cracked heads. It'd been sitting for 13 years. Doc Motor Works replaced the engine, resealed the transmission, replaced the radiator, replaced the fuel tank, fuel pump and fuel line. Due to the age of the vehicle and limited availability of parts Doc had to source a couple custom made oil cooler lines. The knowledge of the staff was evident as the process went on and they showed me issues and discussed solutions with me.Doc Motor Works stayed in contact throughout the 2+ months that work was ongoing, keeping me updated on the progress. Would recommend. Two thumbs up. 5 stars.Caddy runs great!Services: General repairs & maintenance

Very Attentive! Great work! Received a report on the overall status of my vehicle. Gave recommendations without being pushy. I will be bringing both cars back!I brought my Town and Country back for spark plug replacement, brake fluid flush, coolant flush and general maintenance. The van is running smooth and Doc Motor Works has a customer for life.Services: General repairs & maintenance
