AAA-Skokie Car Care Plus this place are rip off. They over charge, one and done for me. Do not give them business

Stay away from this place if you want your car to actually be repaired. I had issues with my car not starting and after a couple incidents of needing a jump start, AAA informed me it was not the battery and that I should take it to one of their shops. I live in Chicago and this Skokie location was the closest shop so I made the drive. They informed me it was the alternator and with parts and labor it would be $1,000. That price felt high to me but I was in a hurry and just wanted to be done with it so I agreed. After a few hours, I was on my way home. The next day, my car would not start. I'm now out $1,000 and looking for resolution from a more trustworthy mechanic. Don't waste your time or money here.

This place completely took advantage of my mom and destroyed her car, AFTER costing her thousands of dollars in “repair” work. Car mechanics dismissing and overcharging women is nothing new, but this place takes the cake. She now needs a new car due to complete incompetence and utter negligence. I am devastated for her and anyone with the great misfortune of having their car towed here. It’s NOT worth it; don’t do it. Take your car to a reputable place/your normal mechanic. AAA is a major corporation and there’s no recourse for subpar (at best) or outright damaging work. Hope this review can save someone some time, money, and a headache. What a shame.

This is the only place I will take my car for service. Sonny and his team always can get the car in whether it's just a simple oil change or something that requires more attention. They will keep in contact with the customer and are willing to answer any questions you may have. I have never left unsatisfied or had a problem with my vehicle. The car is always ready when it is promised. The prices are fair and competitive with other local places, but the customer service remains top notch. Every customer is politely greeted, genuinely listened to, and treated with respect. I highly recommend AAA Skokie Car Care Plus!

Do not bring your car to this establishment. I never leave reviews, but I am so upset, as they blew my engine on my vehicle. It shouldn't even get one star, but they do not offer negative ratings. The only reason I brought it there is because Triple A towed it there when my car stalled on the tollway. They said I needed a new radiator which took them a week to diagnose and replace. A few months later, I went to my dealer to get an oil change to find out the radiator assembly was leaking. As it was under warranty, I brought it back to find out what the deal was. I drove my car there with no issues. I waited an entire day in their waiting room while they were working on it, and they told me the cap wasn't working properly and that was the reason for the leak. The said they didn't give me a new cap when they replaced the radiator. So, I waited while they replaced the cap and had tested my car all day. I finally was able to leave after they said it was working and there were no leaks. This was after 7 hours of waiting. I drove home and about 30 minutes into the ride, the car starting shaking a little, so I called them and they said to bring it back the following day so they could take a look since I was already close to home. About 8 minutes from my house, the temperature gauge was going back and forth. I called again, and they said to drive straight home and have it towed back the next day. I asked them if they took it for a test drive and they said they didn't need to because it was hooked up to a machine all day. I have not driven my car since that phone call, and had it towed back to their sister company in Wheaton which is closer to me, just to find out after another week of waiting and bull, that now there was an issue with the head gaskets. A day later, they decided it was my engine that was blown. They are taking no responsibility for a situation that I didn't have prior to driving my vehicle to their place. I had it towed back to my dealer who also has video of my car the day before I brought it to them and believes this to be faulty work as well. This is the worst customer service and operation I have ever been. Listen if you want, but I'm taking this to a higher level. I've also looked at yelp because I was in amazement that this was really happening. I learned this happens quite often. What a racket Triple AAA.

Came in with a repair emergency. The staff gave me a reasonable estimate and got the work done quickly. Thanks for getting me back on the road.

Sonny was exceptional. He made sure to listen intensively and make sure I was in the loop throughout the entire process. He is the definition of what customer care should be. I’ll make sure when I come back to this location, Sonny is my main point of contact.

AAA advertises battery installation with no additional fees. This is not true. This place charges $19.72 "supply charges" in addition to the cost the battery.

Car overheated and was towed here by AAA. If given a choice DO NOT bring it here unless you want to be grossly overcharged for any repair your car may need. The service writer Matt is friendly, professional and polite but the prices are way out of line. Even the repair estimate on AAA was way less than they charged and I also checked with my local repair shop that also confirmed their prices are way out of line. Unfortunately the minimum charge of $150 just to look at the car discourages you to bring elsewhere because a good part of the savings is eaten up by this fee. I highly recommend going elsewhere!!!

Either a scam or inept (fyi....i too am a AAA member) I went there to get my oils changed and was told that my coolant was in danger of causing a lot of damage & power steering needed service. For $300, they can take care of it. I decided to wait and go to the dealership. The dealer said all levels are normal. This was a scam (or inept). I'm done with this place.

I had a terrible and upsetting experience at this shop in August 2023. The amount of the repair bill changed from one day to the next. Car Care is engaging in deceptive and unethical practices with pricing and charging customers.Service: General repairs & maintenance

My wife booked an appointment on the phone and when she got there, they didn't have her listed. No apology from Marshal. They fit her in and after an hour, looked at the brakes and quoted $1650 for rear pads, rotors and calipers - on a 2013 Scion TC... I can't believe what they're trying to charge (stress, just for the rear brakes), and I know enough to recognize that the calipers are fine. I took it to another shop and they confirmed that there is nothing wrong with the calipers. That's a major red flag, and if you do decide to use this location, I recommend you have them show you the issue with the parts they're trying to replace. Out of curiosity and, admittedly, a touch of rage, I called AAA to go through the quote and they confirmed that these simple parts would be nearly $1000. They wouldn't share the part numbers they planned to fit, and tried to talk around it by discussing their warranty. It would take them 2.5 hours with an hourly labor fee of $155. I asked if the parts were gold plated, but I'm sorry to report that they aren't. I asked what is wrong with the calipers, and Marshal said they were seized. I've since had it confirmed by 2 third party mechanics that they aren't. High quality parts for our car are less than a quarter of what they're trying to charge. We have now had new rear pads and discs replaced by another local shop for a little over $300 - completed in under an hour. Marshal told me that $1650 is "industry standard" for rear pads, rotors and calipers (that weren't required). It absolutely isn't. Please see reputable auto sites that list average prices across the nation. You'll be amazed at how much they're overcharging here.Service: Brakes

Do not take your car here! I called in the morning and spoke to Marshal about getting a quote on my brake pads and rotors. I told him exactly what kind of car I drove. He told me that it would cost somewhere between $500 and $700 but that he would have to see the car to know where in the range it would fall. So I brought my car in, and 2 hours later Marshal calls me and tells me it will be more than $1,150. I asked him why he quoted me a max of $700 over the phone and told him I felt misled. He was extremely defensive and said that because of the car I drive, it costs more and I “should be able to afford the difference”. I reminded him that I told him over the phone the year, make and model of my car when he gave me the estimate. He again was defensive and didn’t apologize once. He said if I decided not to do the repair, I would owe them nearly $100 for the inspection. I asked him to waive that fee because he misled me, but he refused. I also asked him if he would match an estimate I got from a local repair shop for the same service for several hundreds of dollars cheaper. He once again refused. I asked for the manager and he said he is the manager. So I filed a complaint with AAA who also couldn’t get him to waive the fee after speaking with him. To AAA’s credit, they did apologize. Highly recommend going elsewhere. They will take advantage of you here and mislead you.

Terrible! The associate who helped me said he waived my fee for my international license and then charged me and then made me sign up for AAA saying I would get a deal with car insurance and then denied me car insurance. Was hoping for a better experience.
