Total SCAM!!! This is a warning! Save your MONEY! Had reserved a car in advance for a Saturday. Saturday morning they called me to tell me that cars are running out and it's first come first served and they will be closing in 2 hours. Had me scrambling to get ready to go there so I can get a car. I get there and they don't take my card but they took the money out when I had reserved online with the same card?! So, I was left without a car and they told me to call the 800 number to cancel the reservation and got charged for cancellation. Total SCAM!!! I will never trust this company. Go elsewhere!!!

AVOID THIS SCAM AT ALL COSTS. I should have read reviews before I rented from here, but I was in a hurry. Like previous reviews have stated, this place will try to scam you for as much money as they can. I was told I had "excessive pet hair in the car", and guess what? I never even had a pet in the car. When I received the car, the exterior was extremely dirty and there was also dirt and hair on the interior. I took a detailed video before AND after I rented the car so I would have evidence in case they tried pulling something. And they definitely tried pulling something. They told me I had to pay a $450 fee to have the car cleaned due to "excessive pet hair" and when I countered this, they threatened to call the police on me. LOL, I am a cop. Thank god i was prepared for a scenario like this, they WILL take advantage of you if you're not prepared! Avoid this place at all costs. Such a scam

Theives they are!!! I reserved a compact car Told that it was reserved for me.Then when I arrived to pick up was told all they had was a full size Suv.i dont want an Suv i wanted a compact car I rented a compact for the weekand dont want to spend 200 dollars for fuel and when i wanted to cancel i was told to call an 800 number and when I called the 800 number was told that because i pre paid i would have to forfit my pre paid amount of 275.00as a fee. i was told thats our policy and I told them my policy is not to do further buisines with THEIFS!!! SO it cost me 275.00 and I never even touched the keys.

We showed up at 8:30AM to pick up our reserved cargo van. The agent said, oh, I haven't checked the truck rentals yet this morning. We don't have any cargo vans & our other trucks aren't in shape to rent out. Seriously?!? I reserved three days ago - there was plenty of time to move vehicles to where they were needed!! So he called over to the Lincolnwood Budget & said we should go there instead & they could help us. Got there and they didn't have any cargo vans either!! They had either a big moving truck (which required extra-cost insurance or a whole form's worth of information from my insurance company which of course I didn't have with me) or... I could drive south to ANOTHER Budget in the city which might have a van. We ended up cancelling and going up the street to the Home Depot, which (pure luck!) had vans available. End result: 1.5hrs of a long hard moving day wasted, some of which was spent standing in the cigarette-smoky Lincolnwood office (ick!), plus extra rental fees for a last minute rental. Epic Fail, folks!!! Seriously Epic Fail!

I was rented a death trap truck by Budget! The truck I was given is not fit to be on the road. I feel like Budget put my safety at risk. The vehicle had over 206,000 miles on it, very dirty both in the front and rear, with broken glass all over the back bed area. The cab area was filthy with stains everywhere, and a bag of garbage and open tuna can under the passenger seat. I spent an extra $20 filling the gas tank because the truck was given to me without a full tank. There was a strong odor of gasoline throughout the truck, I had to roll down the window often during my trip so I would not pass out. A lot of my furniture now smells like gasoline. The transmission was slipping throughout the trip. This truck is not fit for a local trip, yet Budget rented this junk to me for an over 300-mile one-way trip!

Rented a box truck today. Don't rent from here. But if you must, I suggest bringing lysol wipes, gloves, and dirty clothes. When I saw how dirty the cabin of the truck was I went back inside and the manager said "we know, what do you expect, its a moving truck." No offer to get the truck cleaned or switch me to a clean vehicle. They might think that customers renting moving trucks don't care about the cabin being clean, but I do. I will not rent from this location or Budget in the future. I rent trucks often and never encountered something like this.Check engine light was on the vehicle. They likely don't care about that either.I've rented cars in third world countries and had a better experience than this. :/

The worst customer service experience I've ever received from any company. Was given a car with dirty underwear and trash inside and the alignment was messed up. I had to drive all the way to O'Hare airport to exchange it for a cleaner one , which caused me to have to miss work. After I exchanged for a different vehicle I got on the freeway and an hour into the trip the maintenance light went off, I pulled to the side and had to speak to customer service , they said it was a premature oil light . After I got to where I was going I noticed the two back tires were completely bald. Not only do I strongly advice you to stay away from this budget I caution you to stay away from budget PERIOD .

Worst experience I've had with any business, gave us a broken worn down truck and is refusing to close our contract because the truck is being repaired in a different facility in Crystal Lake.Avoid Budget Truck Rentals at ALL costs, I read nothing but horror stories before renting to go Chicago to Phoenix, truck broke down after six hour of driving, customer support would do nothing to help repair the truck.. Had to pay out of pocket in the middle of no where for a mechanic to make it drivable.Drove a budget truck 1,400 miles with the engine shutting off anytime I took my foot off the accelerator, had to put into neutral, stop the engine and restart while moving if it shut off. Extremely stressful few days all the while budget support was giving us the run around.For the love of God spent a little extra and go uhaul or even better penske, saving a couple hundred is NOT worth it.

July 4, 2021 weekend I rented a truck to help my friends move from Wilmette IL to Tucson AZ. The agent at this rental facility was fine, but was alone and needed to get to the next customer. The truck was disgusting and as I discovered on the first night of driving, not in safe operating order. I've emailed the company executive, after no response, I mailed the company executives. Both communications have been met with silence. Therefore, I wish to share my story in hopes that this will not happen to you. Here's the email message I sent. Sent: Monday, August 2, 2021 10:43 AM Subject: Annual Meeting - Learning Opportunity - Safety Issues - Budget We recently rented a Budget 16' truck for a move from Wilmette, IL to Tucson, AZ. It was a tremendously disappointing experience. We're hoping you'll use our experience as a learning/teaching opportunity at your next annual meeting. The truck we rented should not have been put into the rotation as a rental. When we returned the truck in Tucson, we shared our concerns with the agent that this truck should not be rented out to anyone in the future and should be removed from your fleet. The truck cab was aesthetically and environmentally disgusting, but the major concern was the safety of the vehicle. 1. SAFETY ISSUES: Headlights It wasn't until the first evening of driving when I turned on the headlights and was aghast that the headlights were pointed toward the ditch on the right, not on the roadway! I was able to compensate by following semi-trucks so I could see ahead of me by the headlights on their vehicles. Speed The truck would lose over 10 mph very quickly with every slightincline in the road, so I had to make sure I was not a hinderance to vehicles following me. Rain leaking in thru driver door I had to deal with the loud wind noise coming thru the door the entire trip. Had a "are you kidding me!" moment, when a thunder storm started and the rain continuously dripped in thru the driver's door onto my leg... seriously! 2. AESTHETICS/ENVIRONMENT I have rented several moving trucks, but have never rented a truck in such disgusting condition. I suspect that this truck had been out on a long-term rental to reach this level of disgust. CAB - Greasy, grime over top of entire dash with debris layer on top - All door cubbies and center counsel filled with gross, sticky garbage - Passenger door inside handle has pot/roaches remnants - Floor - center council covered in grease - Floor in general - filthy, old food, spills, food wrappers under seats - Cigarette stench was so bad it gave me headaches - sprayed air freshener with every fuel stop - Air conditioner - either a whisper output, or loud Arctic blast mode - The seat belt was so filthy, greasy, it was black. It's supposed to be orange. - Tried to clean it with soap and water, but it was still black. - Noise Level - So much road noise from tires, wind from driver's door and loud air conditioning that it was impossible to hear the phone ring or even listen to the radio. FUEL The tank was not full when we received the truck. It was 70 miles short. Only 7/8 of a tank at pickup. Average mileage during trip was 8 miles per gallon - that seems really low. CLEANLINESS We cleaned and sanitized all the areas I had to touch during the trip to remove the grime so I could tolerate the cab during the trip. We covered all the other areas with towels and sheets, so I didn't have to look at the filth, but it was still gross. Left the windows open overnight in hopes of lessening the cigarette stench - didn't help. When we returned the truck in Tucson, AZ, we spoke with agent. He was very nice, but he couldn't help us and said we'd have to talk to customer service to request a refund. The agent seemed as shocked as I was when he looked at the condition of the cab and apologized for the condition of the truck. Absolute GARBAGE rental facility and company. They called me three days before my pick up date to notify me that the truck I reserved A MONTH AND A HALF AGO would not be available. Now I have 72 hours to find a new truck before my move to another state during peak moving period in my area. TERRIBLE customer service. Would give 0 stars if I could.

They totally screwed me by not providing the IPass that I was supposed to have had. In return Illinois Ipass hunted down my grandmother who gave me her car that I was towing and billed her with a ton of late fees. Don't believe them get the iPass box if you need it!!
