Great facility and dedicated staff. They helped me adopt out three feral kittens. Each kitten had health issues and CARE paid all the vet bills. Everyone was incredibly supportive.

I reached out to CARE regarding a dog up for adoption - Sierra shepherd/husky mix (appears to be still up for adoption). I got contacted back by a volunteer who asked me some questions and then set up a time to meet the dog. The dog was in a foster home so we arranged to meet her at someone’s house with my current dog who happens to be the same breed except pure bred Siberian husky. I wasn’t able to go but the rest of my family did go and told me everything went well with the meet. Things went well and the volunteer or counselor called me and said things seemed well and arranged a second meeting with me this time. I then got called back the next day and informed that the foster parent thought we wouldn’t be a good fit because at the end of the meet I guess there was a very minor spat between my dog and the dog I was interested in - my family didn’t even mention this neither did the volunteer as it sounds like it was a very very minor thing. I was told that we wouldn’t be a good fit because of that spat and also because l have a 3 year old son - mind you the website says this dog is “good with kids” so not sure where that came from. I had the resources - huge backyard and 6 feet of fencing but for some reason the foster parent decided against us. It was frustrating because I felt like my time was wasted and I felt like this was unfair to us - the dogs might have been setting a boundary or something. I am sure there was no ill intent as my dog is sweet and properly socialized with other dogs. It’s frustrating because here you have a puppy up for saving only to then deny someone who definitely meets the criteria and is knowledgeable on the breed. From the sound of it the rescue parent who i was informed also found them has been very particular for adoption. I was told this dog Sierra had a sister (River) and someone else was interested in her but this foster parent refused the other family adopt and stated she’d keep River instead. I was told this other family was frustrated about that and decided to move on from the facility as well. It seems that in her mind no oneis going to be a good fit - well then she should just adopt both then and stop wasting peoples time. It’s unfortunate I wasn’t able to save Sierra but wish her the best of luck. The process is very frustrating and it feels like it’d be easier to shop or go elsewhere for adoption instead of adopting at this facility.

This is a wonderful organisation rescuing dogs and cats. The shelter is incredibly clean and well equipped, has parking and the volunteers are lovely. Not to mention the dogs and cats who temporarily live here!

If you are serious about raising your pet properly in all things: diet, training, structure, affection, trust and love - Please start your search here at CARE. Then go look at most any other shelter or rescue. And you will see the difference. I have adopted five dogs over the last fifteen years and I could not have felt happier or more confided with my decision adopt there.Every dog (I didn't see cats) I saw was with a separate trainer or volunteer. There were no accidental scuffles that could have been avoided. Each dog has extensive records of care. Each dog has a specialized diet based on his or her individual needs. There were trainers AND behavioralists (one of the best I have ever met and the nicest woman in the world). They asked great questions to help make sure the dog I wanted was a fit. They foresaw issues ahead of time and helped me prepare for them in advance of bringing my dog home. They helped me introduce my existing dog to the new dog in a controlled but relaxed environment. My greatest compliment I can give CARE is this: I brought my puppy home and with all the preparation CARE gave me, it was a relatively easy first day. No meltdowns, slept through the night, and is happy and thriving so far.Go to another rescue, shelter, or training facility after visiting CARE and see if you think the level of "care" provided at other places is as good. If you find one, please let me know because I will support that rescue also!

The counselor we are working with is awesome. She didn't just let us take the dog we thought we wanted but she took time to learn about us and is helping us chose a dog to fit us.

My personal experience was incredible. This was my first time adopting my own pets as an adult so I was very nervous. I filled out the adoption form and Cathy took great care of finding the right match. I originally was interested in two cats I found on their website, but they recommended another pair that would fit our lifestyle a bit more. Cathy walked me through the process over the phone and we made an appointment. That weekend, we met our boys and the rest is history. I am so grateful. The staff really did know all of the cats as well as their personalities and they were sad (and happy) to see these two go home with us. Our senior boys Cloud and Smoke were well cared for there and they truly are the perfect match, like they’ve been a part of our family forever.

Everyone in this Shelter is amazing but Gail she is so rude do not recommend making an appointment with her rude for no reason she was talking about how we can’t get a dog because Mis treatment when the dog was getting treated nice but had a rough life before we adopted her we knew what to do if we had time we asked to get the dog back and she started commenting about the stuff about the dog we knew about it she was getting treated until this rude women said this I had to give my dog up for adoption do not recommend talking to Gail ridiculous service over all place is a 5 star
