Tommy did me a solid on fixing the shifter cable bracket on my 2002 Ford Excursion. The 2 bosses on the Transmission broke and the bracket that holds the shifter cable came off. There are NO aftermarket solutions to fix this problem, not even Ford has a solution except to replace the Transmission. Tommy was able to do some fabrication and provided a repair that was stronger and more reliable than the original mounting solution.

Took my Lexus ls460 here to get it checked out so it could pass emissions and even though over 20 codes came up, Tom correctly suggested that if he changed both o2 sensors then not only will the check engine light turn off but probably other codes too and he was right. It passed emissions no problem. Good fellas here they’ll help you

Brought a car here because I noticed a squeaking sound from the rear and everything online pointed to it being a bad control arm bushing. I brought it to A1 and told Tom that the issue I’m experiencing is likely from the control arm bushing and asked for him to check it out. I come back later to a $134.50 “Minimum Shop Rate” and for Tom to say he took the car out on a drive and looked it over and found nothing wrong. I replaced the control arms and bushing soon after that and completely fixed my issue. I was looking to get a second opinion and not once did Tom mention that it would cost a minimum of $134. Mind you he’s a mechanic who’s been in business for how long compared to me who has only minor experience with cars and I fixed an issue he could’ve easily diagnosed or charged much less. Rather, he’s a shady mechanic looking for a quick buck and will only recommend you to buy GM.

I have been taking my cars to A-1 Automotive for years, and they have always fixed the problem completely. I have tried other places and they either way overcharge for no reason, or they only fix part of the problem. It is nice to trust a car repair place to get the work done properly, and at a fair price.
