When my brother and I left Petco on 364 Randall Road, South Elgin, Illinois, on 01/10/24 at 11:28 in the morning, I told him the cashier Carol gave me a strange look when she leaned back, glanced at him and looked at me with a dismayed look on her face. He said yeah, I noticed she took a long time to get to the cashier desk even though she saw us come in. My brother looks white and I look Taino. We're multi-racial and we both thought it may have something to do with our race.

Grooming department is horrible. I been taking my dog to petco since she was 6 months old. We ended up moving to carol stream so i took her to this location. The groomer at this location said my dog was aggressive and she needs to be knocked to do the grooming service. So next time we try to take her to the original location we been taking her and they DNRed her! They said she hasn’t really been getting service here. Like are they blind she’s been coming to this location since she was 6 month. Don’t trust petco! They are horrible never ever.

Unfortunately, on November 5, this year (2023), the store in South Elgin IL, the Cashier named Carol, charged me twice for my dog's grooming service, $67.44. When I realized this, I called to clarify the error. Asking me to go to the store to get my money back. A woman named Stacy told me that she couldn't return it to me because the fault and responsibility was on my Bank, something that is not true because the card was never declined and the teller named Carol made me swipe the card twice because the payment according to She did not pass, later the woman named Stacy asked her to solve it and she did nothing, she only insisted saying that it was the Bank's fault and that I should fix it with them, totally false because the Bank confirmed to me that Petco South Elgin charged me twice. The woman Stacy made me return to the store three times, she did not want to give me the money back because the store manager named Jimmy was not there, asking for my phone number and they never called me; calling him several times refusing to talk to solve this mistake by making it bigger. It took more than 7 days for her to rudely return the second charge, nor did she offer me an apology. I never understood the bad treatment. I felt very upset and frustrated. I have been a Petco customer and in that store for more than 8 years. I have run a business not only Grooming services, I also buy dog food, everything related to aquariums, buying fish, reptiles and food for my pets, I also never understood why they behave like that, I have observed that especially with Asian and Latin people specifically in that store treat people of another ethnic origin badly and the only answer I have IS RACISM because if it had not been like that, the treatment would have been different, subsequently my husband went to the store and they told him that we were not welcome after the blame It was them for improperly charging for a Grooming service twice. PETCO South Elgin has not canceled my husband’s membership which they are charging us month to month. Should PETCO CENTRAL because we are not welcome to be able to cancel membership . Why should we be the ones to do that if they are the ones kicking us out? We have been charged for two months, even though we have not been using benefits because of this. It is very unfortunate and negative that they have this behavior if it were not for the customers, these stores would not exist. I hope these notes serve as a reference to decide where to go, they treat us with clarity and respect.

They charge for bags now didn't see any signage about it when I walked in. Not the end of the world but was a little surprised at check out

tried getting crickets and they refused to put cardboard in the bag even though I could literally see a stack of it with my own 2 eyes and gave me an explanation that made no sense as to why ultimately they could not just put cardboard in the bag lol. then they did not put the membership discount on and by that point i just wanted to go so i didn't fuss.

Employees are amazing at this location. I had a sweet lady (cashier) helping me with my reward number. Unfortunately, she has to leave, but the manager took over. The manager is the most amazing manager, she made sure that I got my rewards and vital care fix over the phone. Totally recommend this store as their employees definitely know what customer service is.08/23/2023 Around 7 pm .

The people that work at this Petco (Route 59 in South Elgin) are EXCEPTIONALLY sweet and very friendly, so this is the one I go to. Can't say that for the one on North Avenue in St. Charles -- completely different vibe.
