Absolutely horrible experience and a nightmare we are still dealing with. We have actually had to speak with a lawyer due to their negligence. Stay far away from this carmax and exeter. Do your due diligence and research both companies before working with them. I'd hate to see others be taken like we are/were.
While there tryingnto get our down payment back 2 weeks later because carmax messed the loan up (jackson is known to incorrectly do things) there was another individual trying to get their 4,000 down payment back from them. The manager stated this is a normal thing for their store and not a big deal. It's a very big deal. When you leave a dealership thats supposed to be the end with that dealership. In the end dorsett in Terre haute indiana helped get us a better deal with a newer car without the headaches and hassle. A huge thankyou to to dorsett and regarding carmax stay far away from them unless your ready for a nightmare and having to hire a lawyer.

Said I could get a for little as 50 dollars down payment then they wanted 3000 dollars down payment Insurance they recommended went from 123 dollars a month for full coverage to almost 600 a month Don’t believe what they say

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, I will NEVER recommend anyone to this dealership. Riley was an absolute great salesman, but after dealing with him, I’ve had nothing but problems. I left the lot with a car that’s loan was not finalized prior to leaving which delayed my first payment. Jackson from carmax told me it would be taken care of. Then proceeded to have me come to the dealership to pay my June car note, then never sent it over to the loan company but kept it for a paid downpayment . So I was stuck paying a car note twice in one month. I’ve been trying to get this resolved for a month now, they always say they will update me and I never hear anything back from anyone, I call and leave voicemails and never hear anything back. HORRIBLE COMPANY WITH HORRIBLE EMPLOYEES.

Originally worked with Erick on Saturday. He was extremely helpful and friendly. Gave great insight into the BMW I was looking at without making me feel pressured into it. We later went on a test drive and i absolutely fell in love with the car! He showed me my options and got me approved.
The following Monday I worked with James on the paperwork side of things. He let me know there was a lot of paperwork that we could e-sign nowadays and would help ease the process. I had a few questions which prompted a quick answer via phone call. All in all, I showed up to CarMax and there were maybe 2 signatures left to sign.
They both made for a very quick and painless car buying experience!

Test drove a car a couple months ago. Never gave them permission to run my credit, told them many times if I was going to buy the vehicle it would be through my bank and not them. They kept trying to talk me into financing through them but I kept telling them I wasn’t interested in the vehicle. I’ve since bought a brand new 2024 from a reputable dealer. Now they have been running my credit over and over again for months.

Ok experience . Guy didn’t explain how they paid you for the car you’re selling so when all said I’m done I got a “bank draft” had to open a new bank account just to get it deposit because you can’t cash. You guys should switch to cashiers check . It makes no sense for people to have to wait for the money owed to them but they(Carmax) gets the car without any holds, hell even cash payment would help . Don’t recommend. Sale privately
