Moldy produce. Always out of organic cauliflower. Asked produce employee if there might be some in the back got sarcasm instead of help. Was going to buy couple ribeyes if meat dept would notice me standing there. Left the store instead. Doubt I will ever come back!

Okay so that's a great place to get mugged you have a bunch of juveniles sitting outside by the gas station begging for a change

This unfortunately is a very overhyped grocery store . It's always packed , the isles are too narrow , and none of the self checkouts were open in the middle of the day . Workers look like they hate their lives . Very disappointed.

The pick up is unorganized and mismanaged. When I try to contact the store after missing items I’m told no one at the store can resolve issues. We consistently receive damaged products. And I constantly receive items I didn’t order and my orders commonly are missing items. The last order was missing 8 items!
HyVee is our closest grocery store but we’re finally making the decision to shop at Schnucks instead.

The prices seem to be getting better because they were a bit high for the offerings. The produce was good.

Went in to get a panini from the deli and the worker had no idea how to make one and needed me to walk her through it. She put it on the press for barely 30 seconds and said it was done

Bought a pound of ground lamb on Christmas Eve and it was completely rancid when I opened it an hour later. Disgusting and disappointing. Merry Christmas.

I am very concerned about my most recent visit to HyVee. During self checkout, I scanned 2 items totaling $15.13. I slid $10 in the green lit designated area and the screen said I owe $5.13, so I used a debit card for that balance. Well, to my surprise, my debit card was charged my total order $15.13 and my $10 came back out the way it went in. What if I had not been paying attention? I turned to the attendant (tall guy with curly hair) who apologized saying why is this still happening and he should've been nearby to stop it. Oh, so you are aware of the issue. So if I had walked away from that dangling $10, would you have pocketed it or alerted me? I did not go to Customer Service because I had to go, but why is this happening during the time of year where our world is full of scammers?

It's in my hood so I go a lot. Most staff are friendly. Prices are mostly normal with good sales sometimes.
Hot food section needs work.
Meat dept looks like it's been sitting out all day.

Very good store, a bit on the pricey side, but good selection and a great deli

I live closer to HyVee than other stores so convenience plays a part in why I shop there. They are definitely not the cheapest grocery store but even so, there are many things I like.
Their employees are incredibly kind and helpful. Sometimes I hate asking where to find something because (apparently) employees are mandated to walk you to the product. When it’s busy I feel bad taking them away from their duties when I’d be fine being told which aisle to go to.
HyVee has a decent selection of foods for special diets such as gluten-free, keto, vegan etc.
Their bakery is great. Again, not cheap but their baked goods and cake decorators are top-notch. When my daughter signed up to bring macarons to her French class of 20 students, I had to take out a home equity loan.
This is probably separate from the grocery store, but the pharmacy is awesome. After 35 years at a pharmacy across the street, I finally gave up due to chronic understaffing and frequent mistakes. It’s been a delight not having to battle a pharmacy employee over every refill.
One negative IMO is produce. It looks great but often seems to have too short of a shelf-life. I’ve been told (only hearsay) that the MacArthur HyVee happens to be the final destination for produce delivery, meaning their produce spends longer in transit, sitting on trucks. Maybe this isn’t true but it seems plausible to me. Otherwise, I can’t guess why it doesn’t hold up as expected.
I don’t buy meat or use the deli often so can’t be very specific about these. Their carryout food service used to come in handy when I was busier. I’ve enjoyed more than a few Chinese dinners, pizza slices and chicken fingers over the years.
I have used curbside pickup several times and for the most part, it’s been good. I think every store’s curbside pickup is prone to hiccups and errors because it’s hard to choose products for someone else. I specify substitutions when it matters but even then, you don’t always get what you would’ve picked for yourself. That’s simply the downside of shopping services but I appreciate the availability very much.
I’ve never eaten at the attached restaurant. I looked at the menu and thought it was massively overpriced, plus the reviews were pretty mediocre.
Lastly, when I don’t use self-check out I find their cashiers to be speedy and efficient. Even when it’s busy, the process moves more smoothly than at Walmart etc. I do wish they hadn’t stopped using the self-checkout conveyor belts at the north end of the store; they’re so much easier to use than the cramped kiosk stations. Maybe they were hard to guard against theft?
