Bought a truck on June 2nd 2025 and went 3 or 4 times asking where plates and title was at. Tracy said it was returned to dealership for a title correction, which I took her at her word. Finally called secretary of state and they had just received it from the car dealer 2 days ago which was on September 27th of 2025. The temp tags at this point were expired by nearly 2 months I did receive my plates on October 3rd, but I had already quit driving truck due to needing cam phasers. I have know the owner for 20 plus years and am shocked this was the way I was treated. Sham on you Corona and Tracy. Buyer be cautious, I have notified sos police we will see what happens if anything.

If I could give 0 stars I Definitely would have I would not recommend Lightning Auto Sales to anybody! They are straight thieves that honestly belong in jail!!
This past June 2024 My husband and I were in the market for a truck! As we arrived at Lighting Auto Sales their salesman greeted us in the parking lot! He asked what we were looking for so we told him we were looking to buy a truck because we were out of a vehicle and we were really needing a truck to get back to working for our business!
That’s when he showed us his Maroon 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Bighorn that they had priced at $5600 plus tax title and license! He said it was key turn ready to drive, nothing wrong with it at all, besides the windshield had a crack in it and would eventually need to be changed!
We let him know that we were really interested in the Dodge but the only thing was it was a little more than what we had! That’s when he said to us “good thing this truck is the manager's special this week which means we knocked $1000 off the truck!” “So it will be $4600 plus tax title and license and its all yours!”, he said!
That’s when I once again let him know we were very very interested in the Dodge, just the only thing is we only had $4000 cash we could spend that day! “Unless”, I said! Unless you guys would let me finance the remainder of the balance?
He told us we had a deal that we would definitely work something out to where I would be leaving off the lot that day in that truck!
He then told us that he would go ahead and write up the contract for me to sign when we got back because we had to run down to the bank to pull the $4000 out to pay on the truck!
When we returned from the bank we learned that the gentlemen that we had been working with that whole afternoon had to leave work for the day! That's when the lady that was there told us that he did already have the contract filled out, that all we would have to do is read over it, sign a few spots, pay and off we will be!
With everything going on at the time I didnt even think twice about the lady crumbling up the contract pulling a blank one out refilling it out. She then explained that they would be financing me for the remainder of the balance plus tax tile and license. To where they would be wanting me to pay them $200 a month until the balance would be paid off which if i drug it out for the whole term that i would eventually be paying $3500 to be completely paid off! Well at that time I didn’t realize that she added the $1000 that he said was gonna be taken off because it was their “managers special” back onto the balance! But that was it, the payment was the only thing she discussed with me, nothing else! I didn’t actually realize till after I was already returning home that evening that she actually added the $1000 back onto it! But I just figured when I went in to pay them my first payment I would try discussing the situation with them! (Unfortunately I didn’t even make it to that point!)

(Part 2 of 2) Part 1 is under Cassie Smith
We then only were able to drive the Dodge for about two weeks until it broke down on us! Both front sway bars broke leaving us once again without a vehicle for almost a week! After finally getting it back up and running we then realized that the truck's radiator had been cracked and been slowly leaking since we got the truck! Not to mention the truck needed new brakes and rotors all around it!
Day 30 comes for us now having the Dodge! I parked right in front of my house like I did every time I was home!
The truck should be fine! I mean we already paid $4000 down on it and only had it for 30 days. And I figured I would just get over to the car lot the next day to make my $200 payment!
Easy as that, right?...... Well no cause later that night around 11;30pm I needed something out of the truck so I grabbed the keys and outside I went just to find out my truck was GONE!!!
Being it was so late at night I waited till that next morning to call and find out why in the hell did they decide to come take my truck! When I finally reached someone from Lighting Auto Sales the man on the phone told me that they sure was the ones that had the truck towed, but that is all he can tell me and that I would have to wait a week and the lady there in charge would give me a call back being she was on vacation. So a week I waited, then 8 days and then 9!! And still I heard nothing so I called them back!
That’s when she told me that they did have my truck repossessed for non-payment and that if I were wanting to get the truck back that I was gonna have to pay the rest of the truck off plus the repo fees! So I thought to myself that would be $1600 because she added the $1000 back on to the total and I haven’t got to discuss it with them yet! And maybe another $400 for tax title and license and the repo fees which couldn't be no more than $5-600!! So I was thinking if I went there with at least $2500 I would have my truck back no questions asked!!
Boy was I wrong, the lady there told me if I wanted my truck back that I would have to come up with $5200!! Where that number came from makes no sense to me! When I asked, all I got is because that’s what you owe!!!!
But still to this day I have NEVER received nothing from no one involving this matter not the car lot and not the tow yard!! And not only did Lighting Auto Sales steal my truck they also wouldn’t let me have any of my belongings that were in the truck!
SO STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY FROM LIGHTING AUTO SALES! THEY ARE SOME CROCKS THEY WILL STEAL FROM YOU!!! THEY DID ME!! Sold me a truck that I gave them $4000 cash for, that I only had for 30 days, only could drive for a little over 2 weeks because it was broke down for the rest of the time! Then they came and stole it from me and tried to charge me all over again for it like I didn’t just give them $4000 cash down on it!
I also want to point out that, As we were signing papers with the lady there, she was bragging to us how she had her house paid off and how she just bought a $80,000 handicap van for her mother paid off and for in cash!!! Now We clearly see how BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The staff was helpful and very friendly. We worked with Tracy and Eddy and they both seemed very in tune to our needs and tried very hard to put us in a car they would put their own family in. Customer service was top notch!

I would give this place zero stars if I could, but I guess the one star could be for how personable the owner was with us. Don't buy it! We also had to buy our own CarFax which should have been red flag #1.
We drove from St. Louis to look at the vehicle, which appeared to drive and handle well upon inspection, and only had 84k miles. The convertible top didn't work, which we feared would be a bigger issue, so we were able to get a lower price, but later learned the car isn't worth a thing.
When installing new brakes, we found out the entire undercarriage of the vehicle is covered in severe rust. Two separate shops talked about how poor the condition of the undercarriage is. The tires looked good, but were actually dry rotted upon close inspection, and the check engine light came on soon after we returned to St. Louis. We're pretty sure they cleared the code.
Turns out the turbo was failing. We had that replaced, but the check engine light still won't turn off and shops can't figure out why.
After spending as much in repairs as we did on the car, a new light appeared on the dash related to the coolant. We now fear the reservoir has a leak and/or the water pump is now bad.
At this point, the car isn't worth a fraction of what we've paid for it (not including repairs), and I doubt we'll get a thing for it due to all of the issues.
What's even more frustrating is that my stepdaughter worked really hard to purchase this car on her own, and despite everything looking OK on the Carfax, during our test drive, and subsequent drive home (after purchasing), she was scammed.
Several lessons we learned:
- CarFax doesn't show you everything (why all the rust? Was it in a flood?)
- Always check the undercarriage of a used car (We didn't crawl under the car. A mistake we won't do again.)
- Have a trusted mechanic check out any car from a private or independent dealership (any car sold "as is" should probably not be trusted)
- Ask for a ridiculously low price for the vehicle when purchasing from a private dealer...you don't know what they're selling/hiding (we asked for 2k off which brought the price to $6000. We've spent close to $7000 in repairs)
The only good news is that the convertible top did work. We just needed a new trunk latch. If only we could enjoy the car without fear of it overheating or worse.
Shame on us.

I was interested in a Dodge Charger. It was older, mileage was almost 200k, priced at $13,095. So I offered $11,895 because it was already $1200 above market value. Tracey Thomas came back at $12,595 to which I countered at $12k out the door and asked several questions in relation to the vehicle. Instead of countering back or answering the questions or even continuing the conversation, I simply got, "We are wasting time then thank you. Have a good day."Wow, over a $600 difference and they wouldn't even counter? What kind of car salesperson does that?! Don't believe I wanna give them $13k of my money anyway. Hah, thanks Tracey! You made it REALLY easy to shop somewhere else!0 stars out of 5. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Parents helped me pick out a car from here a few weeks ago. Not even a full week after, the car started dying on a consistent basis. We replaced the battery no big deal. Car starts smoking from the tailpipe and we have no clue why. Think we get it fixed and then car alarm won't stop going off. Figure out that it's probably a power drain and we don't know where so the car is going to die consistently. Now along with the power drain the car has started smoking even more and shaking. And we can't figure out why. All of these problems in about 3 or 4 weeks since the car was purchased. I'm a college student over 3 hours away from home, who lives off campus with no vehicle because the car we bought from this place won't stop having problems not long after purchase.
