Good food. Staff seemed more interested in social media than what they were being paid for. Prices fit today's outrageous average of 10 dollars per person. So overall, it was average.

I didn’t think places like this were still around. Fresh made home style meals. Homemade soups and deserts and the best service I’ve seen in years.

A classic diner open 24/7 with a friendly staff. My family party of five ate breakfast here on the morning of the 2024 total eclipse.Parking: The parking is the automobile parking area of a large truck stop.

Stopped in for breakfast. They were very busy, but that must be typical as they handled things well. I would recommend the pecan waffle. One of the few places left that warms the syrup for you.Had I not been so stuffed, I would have tried one of the desserts. They all looked delicious.

Driving home to Indiana from St Louis on Sun, Mar 31, searched Google for restaurant near by and Star 66 Cafe came up. We found it, saw that it was attached to a gas station and almost kept driving. Decided to give it a try, thinking maybe it was a diamond in the rough. Entered and immediately saw the pies and baked goods in the display case. Really looking up now. We were seated and the place was fairly crowded. Another good sign. Asked a gentleman (I assume the owner) where the bathroom was. Through the gas station. Hmmm...OK. Well, it was WAY on the other side of the gas station. Wouldn't have been bad except it was filthy. Damn. OK, back to the table. Saw the huge menu which is almost never good. Usually means all frozen inventory and thrown together meals, trying to be everything to everyone. I ordered one of the 3 club sandwiches (the one with ham) with french onion soup and my GF ordered french toast and hash browns with onion. The soup was good except I was disappointed there was no melted cheese. Oh well. The croutons and onions and broth were delicious. My fries were tasteless. Disappointing again. The sandwich was cut in quarters and was so thick it could not be picked up in one piece. It slid all over the place and had to be eaten in sections. Disappointing. My GF's hash browns were so greasy they were inedible. She picked up a bunch on her fork and showed me the grease dripping onto her plate. Gross, to be honest. The french toast was good although the pieces were really small. So the food was a huge letdown. The server, Jacob, was great. Very friendly, attentive, and efficient. He was the best part of the meal. Male cashier asked how everything was. I said something like "Eh". He didn't seem concerned and cashed us out. Would I recommend? Sadly, no.

It’s been a while since I tried a special at a diner and the beef and noodles on Thursday here at Star 66 are some of the best as far as comfort foods are considered!Dietary restrictions: They are very careful about customer service and safety and will make your order to suit!Kid-friendliness: All of the options here for kids are very filling, so don’t forget to keep em’ awake before you get to the car!
