Fox River Bluff West Forest Preserve is a beautiful park that offers a pleasant mix of wooded areas and prairie grasslands, making it ideal for short walks and outdoor activities. A paved path runs through most of the preserve, providing easy access for visitors. The park features a designated off-leash dog loop, making it a great spot for dog owners to walk their pets freely. Visitors appreciate the scenic views, especially the area where you can walk down the hill to the river, which adds to the overall experience. However, there are some considerations: the wood walkway under the bridge can get slick when wet and sometimes has goose or dog feces. It’s important to bring your own poop bags, as they are not available on-site, and leash your dogs when walking back up the hill, as the area is not fenced and borders Route 31. Overall, Fox River Bluff West Forest Preserve is a highly recommended, dog-friendly place for outdoor enjoyment.
We've traveled the country full-time in an RV for over a year. I've walked my dog in 26 states and over 65 different places - this is the best dog park anywhere.
I look forward to EVERY TIME we come here.

Bring Poop Bags ! None on site and yet the signs are. Doggie pickup bags are available at other parks. Il State law requires owners to carry bags while walking dogs. If your dog poops once and ypu pick it up, you still to have another bag. I have 3 dogs and carry 6 bags.
