Hotel Baker is a gem! You’ll feel the historic vibes upon arrival and notice the modern day updates making this a special one of a kind destination. Everyone we encountered was polite and accommodating from check-in to checkout. Rox City Grill on the main level is cozy and convenient. It’s a great spot for a bite to eat and drinks. Would not hesitate to stay here again or have a large event here.

Currently staying here as we speak. I’d give the general experience 1stars at best. Have the jacuzzi room, king sweet. Jacuzzi jets only work on half the jacuzzi. I was told I’d have a street view or river view, didnt happen, called 3x to confirm. Went down and lobby staff while nice was completely unhelpful to correct. Then while in jacuzzi light kept turning off and off on in window next to us, really creepy. Again went down to front desk requesting a different room, there were rooms available. while they were available was told it was $200upcharge. In regards to windows I was told “I don’t think they can see you” what?!?!!! Don’t think?!?! Overall horrible experience here and wouldn’t recommend. Side note the front door kid was on His phone entire time and never opened door til I started opening door, not a big deal but for price of room what’s he there for. I can show you video evidence, your employee is clearly lying.

We had our wedding and reception in the Waterfront Patio and Waterfront Room at Hotel Baker in September 2023. From start to finish, the staff at Hotel Baker was professional and detail oriented. Hotel Baker exceeded our expectations all the way around. Not only is it a unique and beautiful venue, but the staff were friendly, communicative, organized, and proactive. Marissa from Hotel Baker was so helpful and took care of everything for us. They are easy to work with, and it is very clear that they are very experienced when it comes to weddings. The food was absolutely delicious! They provided a full tasting experience months before the event, and we got to taste all of the items we wanted to serve. Hotel Baker is a great value, considering the quality and convenience they provide. We saved on décor because the space because it was already so gorgeous! WE spent the night at the hotel and the room was spacious and comfortable. Our guests kept remarking on how lovely the day was. Cannot recommend this venue highly enough!Rooms: The bed was soooo comfy!

My husband and I just got married at Hotel Baker on September 1st, and thanks to the Hotel Baker staff, we had the most incredible wedding day ever. We have not been able to stop talking about how perfect everything was. Our friends and family agree! There are plenty of wedding venues that look the same, but Hotel Baker is something special. Looking back, we couldn’t be happier with our choice to host our wedding at Hotel Baker. We got married on the boat dock and had our cocktail hour in the beautifully manicured rose garden, which both overlook the Fox River. It was so picturesque and romantic! Our reception was held in the gorgeous Rainbow Room. From the moment we toured the venue, Rowena made us feel important, valued, and like family. Throughout the entire wedding planning process, Rowena and Marissa were incredibly kind and accommodating. When planning a wedding, there are so many moving parts, but Marissa’s expertise, patience, and grace put my mind at ease. She and Rowena perfectly executed everything I asked for.At Hotel Baker’s showcase event, we had the opportunity to meet their wonderful preferred vendors. We ended up choosing our bakery, photographer, day-of-coordinator, and DJ from Hotel Baker’s preferred vendors, and we couldn’t be more pleased with their professionalism and services. It is easy to see that the Hotel Baker staff takes pride in their work. The staff transitioned between the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dessert like a well-oiled machine. It was truly so impressive! The dinner service was impeccable and our guests agreed that the food was delicious. The Hotel Rooms are clean, beautifully decorated and updated, yet they still have a historic charm. Our room overlooked the rose garden and the Fox River. We wish we could get married all over again just so that we could spend another day celebrating at Hotel Baker. We are forever grateful for the Hotel Baker staff and all they did to make our day truly unforgettable. If you are looking for a venue in a desirable location with excellent staff, delicious food, historic charm, and beautiful views, look no further. Host your wedding at Hotel Baker…. We promise you will not regret it!

I will preface this that I did not have the wedding and simply attend one. With that out of the way, though, I thought that this location was absolutely astounding. There is an amazing rose garden and plenty of room to mingle outside. Inside, there was a great dance floor and a nice upper balcony. The food was delicious and the staff was extremely kind. They really made it a great experience.

The hotel is very nice and charming. Makes you feel like you've gone back in time. The street side rooms are noisy with traffic so if you are a light sleeper get a river view room. The pillows are big chunky hockey pucks and not comfortable. The bar area had a cool old school vibe to it. All the staff was nice and friendly.I would definitely stay here again, but get a river view room.

What an AMAZING place for a wedding! I had the great privilege of getting to officiate my nephew's wedding and they chose the Hotel Baker for the ceremony and reception! The wedding was outdoors off the river and all of the so many great pictures were taken in the beautiful garden out back. It's such a historic building for St. Charles and the location just can't be beat. Everyone at the Hotel Baker was incredibly accommodating, friendly, attentive and made sure that my nephew and his bride had the wedding of their dreams! I told my nephew his best decision was to pick Christine for his wife... and the second best decision was picking the Hotel Baker!

I proposed to my wife at the Hotel Baker. They were phenomenal with preparing the room that I proposed in. They set everything up and made it a night that we will never forget! We also had our Shower there. This was a great experience as well. They allowed us to store our stuff in a room the night before, allowing for the day to be super easy to set up the room. Their staff was professional, polite, and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend them for your wedding needs!

We had our wedding at Hotel Baker and it was the most beautiful venue we could ever ask for. The building itself is so unique and we received so many compliments from our guests. The food is fantastic and the chef/staff were so accommodating with our main course requests. We had our ceremony and cocktail hour outside and WOW! so beautiful. The rose garden is well kept and sets a perfect backdrop for photos that will last a lifetime. Our planning process leading up to the big day was also smooth. We always received timely responses to our emails and they answered every question (and we had a ton) - so thank you! Marissa Dries was our main point of contact and she was amazing. Very communicative and she was there the day-of to ensure our day went as planned. We also stayed in the Colonel Suite and it was so clean and spacious. Breakfast in the Rox restaurant was also delicious. Lastly, I want to note that the entire staff was friendly and extremely helpful - from the front desk receptionists to the bellboys to the event staff. Thank you for treating us and our guests so well!

Absolutely ridiculous policy of "No outside food or drink allowed. No coolers allowed". You don't find out about this stupid policy until you check in. Also during our visit the hotel had only one working elevator. We were part of a large wedding party and attempting to get all people checked out in time (11:00AM checkout) proved difficult. We mentioned to front desk staff that we were running a little behind and would probably be out of our room at 11:30AM - clerk said "I would prefer that you are out at 11:15". The policies here are terrible - find another hotel to stay at in the area. Would NOT book again.

I'm glad the Hotel is showing respect for the American flag. But, where is the "illumination" to light up the flag on top of the Hotel after sunset? It is customary to do so. A flag pole light would not be that expensive.

We attended a wedding here recently so our rating is based off the room/service we received as hotel guest and also our experience as guest for the event venue. Truthfully, I want to give them a harsh 2 star rating but I have worked in the hospitality industry for 7+ years so I hate to give low ratings but we were just not impressed by Hotel Baker. As hotel guests, the staff was always super kind and professional - no complaints there. But I do think its ridiculous that check in starts at 4pm for such a small hotel. I also found the pricing to be very extreme considering they don't offer much. I understand this is a "boutique hotel" so its unique history and centralized location is the prime selling points but its complimentary breakfast was awful and our room (standard king room) was super small and crowded with no ideal place to get ready (which was super important considering we were there for a wedding and I was a bridesmaid). But the one thing that I could not stand, there was no privacy at this hotel! You could hear EVERYTHING. I am not sure if it was just our room but everything in the hallways echoed into our room. We also had a door to connect us to the room next door so we could hear all conversations, the TV, anything that our neighbors did. It was absolutely terrible and in my opinion unacceptable. And lastly, I hated that there was no parking on site - I know this is out of their control (as its an older hotel) but it was never communicated to us upon booking with them. I blame myself as well for not checking but I just feel like that was something that should have been mentioned. And they do have a loading/unloading space in front of the hotel but good luck trying to use that as it was constantly being used upon our arrival so we had to park and lug our bags a couple of blocks. As a wedding guest, this venue is really beautiful and unique. I can see how this is such a popular destination for events. I especially loved the light up dance floor. I am an event planner though so maybe these are just things I noticed but I think they are important for anyone thinking about having an event here. If you are using the outside garden area for a ceremony, the guest have to walk through the reception room to enter into ceremony garden behind the hotel (unless the other room is not being used). I would have not liked that as a bride because most like to keep the reception space as a fun surprise to walk into after cocktail hour. And even though the room is really unique with the two stories, I feel like it really separates a chunk of your guests to anyone put upstairs. There also is no bar upstairs so they will need to go up and down the stairs to get drinks. Another important thing to know that any tables placed on the dancefloor for dinner service have to be torn down for dancing. The staff did an awesome job to be quick but I personally hate tearing down things in the middle of an event (I understand its necessary for this venue). I was a bridesmaid so I lost a place to sit and store my purse safely during the remainder of the event which stunk. The one thing that really disappointed me was the food. I have to be honest, the best food that was served to my that night was the bread. I was so sad but the entrée was awful (dual plate of chicken and salmon with mashed potatoes and carrots). Everyone I sat next too also commented on how bad the meal was but we were all sooo hungry we ate it - event the lashed potatoes were bad! I have worked all around the country doing events and this was by far the worst event food I have been served (and I worked on a Marine Corps base for 3+ years doing events lol). One last thing, normally the bar tells the DJ to make a last call announcement. They never did that and so all the sudden, the bar closed down with no warning. That was kind of shady of them to do in my opinion.I know this is a very negative review but like I mentioned, my boyfriend and I were just not impressed considering the price.

As a wedding photographer and film maker who has captured more than 200 weddings, I have seen a lot of venues. Hotel Baker was one that really stood out for me and my wife’s wedding day. It’s classy, unique, and timeless. One of the best parts of the venue is that everything is there on site. From getting ready, to ceremony, reception, stay for guests, food, drink, cake, tables, etc. Everything you need for a wedding day is right on site, which made planning SO easy. The staff was wonderful. Ashley, Tiffany, and Manuel made the day so wonderful. They were very hospitable and on top of things. In regards to the food, most of the time when you go to a wedding with 150 people or more, you tend to get dry food that really isn’t all that great. This was not at all the case here. We are still receiving countless compliments from all of our guests about how amazing the food was, which wasn’t really something my wife and I cared too much about, but looking back, it made the day that much more amazing. Finally, the pent house was an immaculate way to end the night. You can see the entire downtown and it was wonderful to wake up and enjoy the morning on the balcony. We cannot thank Hotel Baker enough!!

Such cute charm. I loved all the old architecture and features. With that said, there’s chipping peeling paint and rotten window frames etc that you would expect in an old building. So if you’re expecting nice and new this isn’t for you bid you appreciate architecture and older charming character and building features you must stay here!
