I recently visited the local Ace Hard are store in Steger and had the pleasure of being helped by the sweetest young little country girl working as a cashier. She had such a warm demeanor that instantly made me feel welcome. It’s refreshing to meet someone who genuinely cares about customer service. She smiled often, and handled my checkout efficiently, all while making me feel valued as a customer. It truly made my day better! If you get the chance to be served by her, you’re in for a treat. Highly recommend!

Nearby. This place looks like it's shutting down. Very dirty, lacks stock, high prices, go to Crete instead.

I visited this store with the hope of receiving respectful and fair service, but what I experienced was blatant racism. I was treated unfairly and made to feel unwelcome because of my race. Two men and a woman were very dismissive as I went in there to have some keys made. It was clear that I was not treated equally. No one should ever be made to feel less human when simply just trying to shop. Until then I will not be returning!

I occasionally visit this Ace either because I'm in the area or if they have a good sale. It is very friendly and customer service oriented. The prices are comparable to the larger big box stores like Home Depot and say a Menards. I also like it because it has a lot of the same things as the big box stores without giant lot and store. It is more personable and more convenient. I can get in and out much faster. Big is not always better.
