“I followed Dr. Davis from the U. Of I. Vet Clinic to AHATC when he began this veterinary practice. I'm not even sure what year that was. I'm 85, so you know I am extremely happy with the competence and care all our dogs (and cats) have received. I have found warm and welcoming professionals from the receptionists, vet techs, and veterinarians throughout the many years I have been coming to this vet practice. The same has been true since Dr. Davis retired and Dr. Stoerger has continued the practice. Every time I've had to make that awful decision a pet owner often faces, I have been supported and eased through euthanizing a beloved furry member of our family, this practice has supported me with their combined veterinary skills, their empathy, and their understanding for my loss. My most recent experience in dealing with my Murphy's struggle with cancer, I was able to get through it with their support and caring. Dr. Stoerger came to my home with a vet tech and told me to let her know when I was ready. (You're not ever really "ready" to lose your friend and companion, but you know it's the last caring thing you can do for them, and I was given the gift of Dr. Stoerger's understanding and empathy for my loss. She has cared for Murphy, my beagle mix, from 2012 when I adopted him until his recent euthanasia. When the mass was discovered in his lung, she told me of the cancer division at U. Of I. Veterinarian Medical School, who were wonderful as well. When I took him there, she shared his medical records with them. In his illness and euthanasia, she was so tender with him--and with me--that I felt comforted, and I know Murphy was as well. “I've used Good Friends for 3 years consistently, nearly since we adopted our sweet girl, Beesly. We initially went to another vet in town and just were not happy at all. Our dog is an anxious mess, and everyone is always so good to her, very gentle, never rushed, trying to go on Beesly's terms. She even did really well overall when we boarded her, and we were all anxious about how that would go!I honestly don't think there is a better place in town, the level of care is unprecedented. The space is always clean and it's very well maintained. All staff that I've had the pleasure of interacting with have been truly wonderful, so knowledgeable and helpful. I'd not trust anyone else with Beesly even half as much as I trust Good Friends. When my cat faced a ureteral obstruction, I initially took him to an emergency clinic at U of I around midnight, where unfortunately, they were unable to properly insert a urinary catheter. They advised me to seek help from a local vet.The very next morning, I took my cat to VCA Heritage Animal Hospital. In less than an hour, Dr. Talley and her technicians successfully inserted a urinary catheter. Moreover, they graciously agreed to keep my cat wearing the catheter overnight for further observation. Dr. Talley and her team even conducted a late-night check at 11 pm to ensure that everything was going smoothly. “I brought my cat in for a well visit and vaccines and I was soooo glad I chose Sports Vet. We had brought her to their ER once in the past and they took amazing care of her and gave us lots of information so we could make educated decisions about her health. Yesterday, for her well visit, I was afraid she’d be super feisty and lash out. Surprisingly, she did so good! They were so calming and gentle and made sure she was examined without too much stress.
