Called about bringing my vehicle in for quite a few things to be looked at and given a quote for. I explained what I needed a quote for: overheating, shaking wheel(possible axle issue), power steering issue(reservoir and/or pump problem), and my serpentine belt snapped in front of me while checking under my hood. I explained in great detail that I have had another shop do work on my car without my permission when I just wanted a quote and had to pay for it. I need this to just be a check and quote, sure they say, $88 to look at, diagnose and quote. If I decided to get the work done by them the $88 will go towards the work. Sounds great, win win. I dropped my car off to them and was told that they would give me a call the next day. The next day came and an hour or so before they closed they called me and I was told that they still needed to take a look at a few things, but they have put on the serpentine belt and that it was running fine now. I asked what about the other issues and I was told that putting the serpentine belt back on my car remedied a lot of the issues, and that I owed him $120, but they would look at it and give me a call the next morning. The next morning came and went and, around noon I called them to see what was going on and was told the same thing that the serpentine belt fixed most of the issues and that I owed him $120. I said fine because at least my car was running and not overheating even though I had not agreed to that. The next day I go to get my car, I am told the same thing that the serpentine belt fixed my issues and when I asked about the shaky wheel and the power steering issue, I was told to just drive it around for a little while to see if it fixes itself,(yea, a mechanic told me that). I go back yesterday and tell him that not only is it not better, it’s worse. My power steering is still making that grinding sound as if it’s gonna go out. I asked that since I originally asked for a quote for these things from the very beginning, and that is what I asked you to look at. You told me to drive it around a little more for a little while, only to tell me that I need to pay for you to look at it again and give me a quote I said, thank you and I left. Please don’t go here. Please don’t waste your money. Please stay away from this scam. They are men who think that women don’t know when they are being taken advantage of. To think I’m going to pay twice for the same thing I asked you to do in the beginning is ridiculous and they should be closed down.

I came here to get a thermostat put in a couple months ago and I dnt know what they did but they charged me over $300. They had my car for over 3 hours called me told me it was ready I picked it up drove from Urbana to Champaign and had to pull over because my car was overheating. I thought since I just got the thermostat fixed it had to be the radiator. So I took it somewhere else because I’m wondering why didn’t they tell me I need a radiator, when I took it somewhere else come to find out this shop never changed my thermostat I was pissed they showed me the old thermostat that was in there they changed it and my car wasn’t overheating. I am still pissed about this I’m thinking maybe because I was a female but I will never go to this shop again a wasted $300. Only reason they got 1 star is because I had to give it to them in order to post.

Was pleased at first, but waited 2 weeks to get a quote on ac repair for my sprinter van. After digging further, discovered they didn't check a couple likely possible causes and, dumbfounded, recommended a new compressor, the most expensive option. Was also a bit disappointed that they went ahead and started work before giving me the requested quote. Seem a bit too busy to do the job right.

Hansons rendered and charged $350 worth of service without my permission. Though I was shocked, I did take it on the chin and pay the charge.
Upon calling the shop to file a complaint, I was told by the owner, Brian, that, though it is rare, services at his shop are sometimes performed without giving their customers a quote or curtesy call. However, my main issue is that I looked Brian in the eyes when I handed him my keys and asked him plainly to please call me before rendering any services. Brian shook my hand and assured me that he would not. Brian was not willing to provide a solution to this issue and implied that, due to his shop's high volume of customers, that he did not care whether or not he would get my business in the future.
It is worth noting that it took me weeks of phone calls to actually speak with Brian and that Brian told me over the phone that he does not regularly monitor his automated text messaging system, which I can certainly verify.
I let Brian know how disappointed I was to be let down by a business so close to my immediate community and he reaffirmed to me how little he cared about my opinion.
Several of my co-workers also let me know that they were also charged without permission (though it was significantly less than what I was charge with the highest being $70) so I would HIGHLY recommend that new customers bring their vehicles elsewhere. It is very obvious to me that Brian either does not value community or does not believe Urbana is not his community.

I took my sons car here with some Idling issues Brian assured me that he fixed everything and that he was satisfied with his work the 1st time we went to pick it up he charged 240$ and the same issues was happening before we left the shop so he kept it there to work on it some more he assured us that he cleaned ground wires replaced a pc that needed replaced and that he was sure it was fixed when we got there to pick it up the second time it was still doing the same thing he then told us that was the best he could get it and it probably would never be better and charged me another 250$ at this point I was not letting it stay there for him to fix and charge anymore so we drive it home dying at stop signs and lights we then took it to another mechanic and he put it on his machine and told us which ground wires was back that Brian specifically pointed out to my son that he repaired that was not repaired I can’t believe this man is still in business after all the horrible reviews I have read I wish I had read them before taking my sons car there and spending 500$ on a job that cost 120$ at another shop I’m definitely turning them in to the better business Bureau he should be ashamed of himself

Very good...i feel i can rely on them..only complaint is that they can take your car and work on another car...but that has nothing to do with their skills and reliability.

I was in a bind and needed my truck repaired quickly for an upcoming trip. Brian was able to fit me into his schedule (which I know can be difficult as most auto repair shops are scheduled out for at least a week) and actually had it fixed the next day. Truly appreciate him and his team of mechanics and highly recommend them.

They serviced a coolant leak, it continued to have a minor issue but they corrected it. Overall, I'm very pleased.

I first took my car to Hanson's because it was an emergency and they are near my job. Now I wouldn't take it anywhere else. Brian makes it a priority to get your vehicle in as quickly as possible, the team of technicians are highly trained experts and the pricing is always reasonable and fair. I trust Hanson's enough to just hand them my keys and say "fix it".
