Hit or Miss: Inconsistent Service Experience at Gamestop in Vernon Hills I've frequented the Gamestop in Vernon Hills on several occasions, but unfortunately, each visit feels like a gamble with the quality of service I'll receive. The most disappointing aspect of my recent visits has been the apparent lack of knowledge among the staff regarding video games. It's baffling to encounter employees who admit they don't really play video games and have minimal understanding of the industry, especially considering they work for a company specializing in gaming. This revelation was not only shocking but also deeply frustrating. On numerous occasions, I found myself seeking information about current video games and upcoming releases, only to be met with blank stares and unhelpful responses. It's incredibly off-putting when employees can't provide basic insights or engage in meaningful conversations about the products they sell. Their lack of professionalism was evident, and it left much to be desired from a customer's perspective. What's even more concerning is that the staff seemed oblivious to customer feedback and discussions happening within the gaming community. This disconnect further hindered their ability to assist customers effectively and left me feeling disillusioned with the entire experience. Overall, my impression of the Gamestop in Vernon Hills is one of disappointment. The inconsistency in service quality makes it difficult to rely on this location for a positive shopping experience. While I can't speak for other Gamestop locations, I sincerely hope they prioritize employee education and ensure all staff members have a basic understanding of the video game industry. They don't need to be experts, but some level of knowledge is essential for providing satisfactory customer service. In conclusion, I urge Gamestop to address these shortcomings and strive for improvement across all their stores. Until then, I'll be hesitant to return to the Vernon Hills location, and I advise other customers to proceed with caution. Strategic Solution: Implement ongoing training and Knowledge Enhancement Programs To address the issue of inconsistent service quality and lack of knowledge among staff members at the Gamestop in Vernon Hills, I suggest implementing ongoing training and knowledge enhancement programs. Here's how such a solution could be implemented: 1. **Regular Training Sessions:** Gamestop should schedule regular training sessions for all employees focused on video game products, industry trends, upcoming releases, and customer service skills. These sessions could be conducted by experienced staff members or external trainers knowledgeable about the gaming industry. 2. **Online Learning Resources:** Provide access to online learning resources such as video tutorials, articles, and quizzes covering various aspects of video games and gaming culture. This allows employees to learn at their own pace and reinforces their knowledge on an ongoing basis. 3. **In-Store Product Demos:** Organize in-store product demos where staff members can familiarize themselves with new releases and popular games. Encourage employees to play these games during downtime to gain hands-on experience and better understand customer preferences. 4. **Encourage Feedback and Discussion:** Foster an environment where employees feel comfortable sharing their experiences, asking questions, and providing feedback on their interactions with customers. This could be facilitated through regular team meetings or an online platform where employees can communicate openly. 5. **Gamification of Learning:** Introduce gamification elements into the training process to make learning more engaging and enjoyable. For example, employees could earn badges or rewards for completing training modules or demonstrating exceptional product knowledge. 6. **Employee Incentives:** Offer incentives such as bonuses, discounts on merchandise, or recognition awards for employees who consistently demonstrate excellent produc

3 times I have come here and the door is locked during business hours, no sign or anything. I come to pick up a preorder and I'm told its not there, yet when I call the next day it was there after all. Terrible, do not go here take your business elsewhere

Terrible location! One employee working on a Saturday afternoon? I went to get a gift card. I know exactly what I need. The person takes forever to get it done.

Very disappointed in this location, I went to return a game that I hadn’t even had for more than 24hrs and the employee told me I couldn’t get my money back because the game was “new” when I bought it and now it was opened so the best they could do was give me $17 in store credit for a game I spent about $40 on. The game did not look new I never even opened the box because I ended up buying the digital version which was at a lesser price and that’s why I wanted to return it. I would’ve been happy with a store credit if it was what I paid for.

Website says open at noon. Employee strolls up at 12:45. It's now 1:20 she's sitting in the store with customers steady coming up to a locked door while she sits on the floor doing. I get it it's hard finding good help but definitely won't be back to this location.

I come here every time I want to get a game, controller, or a console. Service is amazing and it’s very organized making it easy to find what you are looking for. I just wish it was open a little bit longer on weekdays.

Gamestop closed when it shouldn't be with a sign that said the employees will be back by a time that they did not uphold.

Employee, I won’t give his name but 697386 was his number, completely ignored me while taking a phone call. I waited for five minutes because I needed a new ps5 controller. I was about to walk out when the call finally ended. He never acknowledged the fact he made me wait. While ringing me up, I had to remind HIM of the rewards program so I could get my monthly discount. Never thanked me for my purchase. Either he was having a super awful day or he hates his job. Emailed customer service about him, but they were equally incompetent. Normally the service is great there. I ONLY shop at this low inventory location because they treat me respectfully. No more.

The staff seemed as if they were my online gaming friends in terms of interaction, reliability, and being able to relate with them. Aswell, every time I visit this store, their inventory always expands across the board. Also GameStop’s pro membership is a steal, as it is only 15/year and they give you $5 gift cards every month!

Traded in my PS4 for cash yesterday. Left and realized I was shorted $20 bucks. Didn't go back because it's too easy for someone to leave and just say I didn't get my money but was super annoyed. While maybe I should have checked before I left I still think employees should make sure they giving out the right amount to customers.
