Intentionally limited my shopping to 5 items so I could use the self checkout and not have to bother the associate who was busy stocking. (They limit self checkout to 5 items at this store, and they’re very strict about it as I’ve been berated in the past for having 7 items) Brought my five items to self checkout, scanned everything, and decided to grab a candy bar for my wife at the last second bringing my total items up to six. As I started to pull out my card an associate popped up to inform me that I was not allowed to have more than 5 items and next time to go to regular checkout. She was very kind about it, and if she reads this I absolutely do not blame you. I know it’s management or whoever made the rule who makes you say something to customers. I just think it’s a ridiculous business practice. If you’re worried about theft just don’t have a self checkout. Shut it off. You’re just incentivizing people to spend less money by buying less items, and making it harder to buy the most profitable items in the store: Very overpriced impulse items like 3 dollar candy bars.

A lady who works there kindly accused me of stealing while I was using the self checkout. I have never been so insulted in my life.
