While I was on my way to pick up a car, they called me from Herz to let me know that they don’t have a car that I booked or similar that I asked for so I ended up without car but they changed me that amount anyway. Now I’m spending days on a phone, while they transfer me back and forth and still without money to return for car I never rented with their fault. Never again but before I will refund my money even I have to call till the end of the year. Strongly rcommend not to rent using Herz.

Been using Hertz for years. Everytime I would visit family I would make a reservation, no issues. Now they arent open on the weekends or Friday. Thats ridiculous, it used to be so easy. Pick up on Saturday and drop it off the following friday, plus just minutes from where im staying.I could just pick up and drop off at the airport but it was easier to deal with Hertz in wkgn.I will just have to use another company.

I needed to be picked up at my home for this rental. I was trying to get in touch with a person at the facility in Gurnee but Hertz phone system is the worst for customer service, didn't matter what prompt I pushed, I kept getting an automated run around. The worst ever!!!!

If I could give this location zero stars I would. I went there today after having a reservation for over one month to pick up my vehicle at the selected time of four p m I arrived to be advised that there were no more cars and that this happens all of the time. The employee was flippant and half heartedly apologized. I immediately got on the phone to corporate and a new car was available at a different location but that location closed at 5 PM and I had 35 minutes to get there. At that time, the Waukegan employee advised me that he did have a vehicle and he just needed to get a hold removed for that. I stayed on hold with the corporate customer service representative for almost 20 minutes waiting for this information to be verified, after it was verified I hung up with corporate. I continued to stay at the Waukegan location for over 2 hours. To make a very long and troublesome story short. We left with no vehicle after all of this. I had been on hold for a second time with corporate for over 20 minutes as I left only to find out that all that could be done was that my reservation could be canceled and they could try to find a new reservation. They would not honor my prior reservations fee, nor would they discount anything for all of the hassle.On top of all of this, the office was disgusting. See attached photos, there was a teeth flosser on the floor. I couldn't even sit back in the chair as it was so gross. Hertz was a huge disappointment. In fact, I would say that they are liars. I had a reservation, I have a confirmation number, and they did not honor it. Nor did they do anything to fix it. 5 other people walked up after me and they also were all turned away with no vehicle even though they all had reservations. What is going on here? Worst experience ever!! Hertz did NOT get me on the road, what a joke!

idiots..... charged me an extra day. dropped car at FBO they didn't pick it up on time then they charged me for it. Car was dirty, no one answers the phone at that location to sort it out.

Everything about the transaction went smoothly. The manager was very professional, kind, and courteous. I was disappointed with the condition of the vehicle. It was dirty, some kind of liquid all over the dash, arm rest plus the inside doors. And, sadly, it had dog fur stuck in every part of the seats, console, and trunk. I'm severely allergic to dogs, so that was a big disappointment.I did bring it to the attention of the manager. He did try to get it "recleaned," but I just got into town, and I have things to do. The pizza was already ordered. I didn't have time to wait. It should have been cleaned correctly the first time. Regardless of the hiccups, I will be back and ask for some discounts for my inconveniences when I'm back in town. Only because of the manager and his kind professional mannerisms.

We went to get a rental car and immediately once we turned it on it had the engine service light. They gave us a smaller car then what we reserved. We tried to exchange it but no hertz help us. We were charged full price. If you go here just know if anything goes wrong they won't help you or they will take advantage of you

Do not rent from this location. I showed up with a reservation I made through expedia that I had confirmed the previous day only to be told that they could not find it and the only way to help us was to start a new one. They said they would honor the rate I got through expedia when I returned the car but that did not happen. Upon the return they told me they could not fix it and should call customer support, during that call they told me they could not do anything about it. Also the first car they gave me had a service light on and an alarm and they told me to just ignore it that it would be fine, I insisted I wanted a different car but they told me it was fine. I drove around the block and had to return the car because the alarms were too much. It took us 2 hours to actually get a car from the time we showed up. I get they have 1 worker there right not but if the service is going to lack then maybe the facility should be closed.

The gentleman at hertz was very rude and unpleasant and was like that from the time I walked in the door he told me he didn’t have the car and wasn’t going to help and when I asked him why he just stood there I even explained to him I needed the vehicle to go to a family members funeral which I didn’t make it to. Matt from 515 Green Bay rd Waukegan il 60085 was very rude and even seemed racist after a while. When I asked to speak with a manager he said that he was the manager and that he didn’t have a boss

If I could give this location zero stars I would. I pre-paid for a rental on the Hertz website and when I arrived at the location to pick-up the vehicle they attempted to provide me with a vehicle that was unclean and covered in pet hair. When I advised the representative that the car was not satisfactorily clean, he gave an excuse stating that he tried to clean the car out from the previous renter but because that renter returned the vehicle extremely dirty, the cleaning that he had done was the best that he could do under the circumstances. That statement was the first mistake because as representatives of a company, if you are aware that the product is unsatisfactory, it is your job to bring that product into compliance, if you are unable to do so, that product should be removed from the market. So because he was aware that the car did not meet the clean standard, that car should have been removed from the market. Instead, I was forced to request another vehicle which was denied by the employee stating the basis that this was the only vehicle they had. This is the second mistake, the representative agreed with me that the car was not the standard clean but felt that because he tried, I should take the unclean vehicle which is a customer service contradiction. The idea is that a company seeks to provide its customers with its best and because the representative had knowledge that the vehicle was unclean the representative should have taken the time to review his inventory and locate another vehicle. After denying me a clean vehicle, he assured me that I would be refunded. This is the third mistake as he did not complete the necessary steps on his end to make sure that my funds were returned. It currently has been almost a month and I still have not received my funds back. I have contacted the corporate office multiple times over the course of the last month and I continue to be advised that the previous representative did not do...fill in the blank, and that it should be another 7-10 business days.I have rented from Hertz in the past when I travel but after my experience with the local branch in Waukegan and my current exchanges with the corporate office, I will never rent from Hertz again, and I will continue to strongly suggest against dealing with the Hertz company until they have addressed their customer service approach. Retraining is definitely in order.

The car was bad, with no maintenance service and I find a used Surgical or Covid mask inside the car(photos attached below), they charged me double the price. No refunds from the Waukegan location I called a Hertz representative they provided me with a $75 coupon. I suggest this place is not good for a rental.

Showed up for my reservation and they told me they had no cars available because they all were being fixed, no apology, nothing, horrible business management. No attempt to make it right just blank stares.

Not a true Hertz location. It’s inside of a dealership. I booked a reservation online, showed up, and they didn’t have any cars available. If you book here, call first.

The staff was great to work with, specifically Matt, he was able to help me with whatever questions I had and he always had a good selection of vehicles, I would recommend this place 10/10!
