About 18 months ago I moved from a 1-bedroom apartment in one state to a single bedroom in a shared house in a different state. I had never seen the storage unit facility before and never used a storage unit. I did not know how big a unit I needed either, and was struggling to figure out what would be right. I was able to talk to a real person when I called Public Storage pretty quickly, and they were able to help me figure out how large a unit I needed and to set everything up so it would be ready when I moved.
I was dreading getting everything out of my U-haul and into my unit, but when I got there, there were flat carts available. No extra charge, and enough that my family and I could make several trips at once. It was incredibly easy when I got there as well, the lock and key were in my unit as I had been told they would be, all I had to do was load the unit and lock the door. I was able to access my unit whenever I needed to, and I never felt unsafe, even going alone. I had a code to enter and exit, and there was room for 2 vehicles to be side by side, even if one was a truck. The first time I accessed my unit after moving, I did not lock it completely correctly and I got a call that evening from an employee of Public Storage. I was very impressed to see how responsive they were, and that they check the facility regularly.
There was one rent increase in the 18 months I was there, but it was less than $50 more, and I was informed of the change on the app, by email, and by letter. When I was able to move into a new apartment, setting up the move out date was extremely simple. I could do it on the app, and I did not have to provide much notice. I still got an email and a phone call from a person to make sure I knew to take my lock and make sure I was out by the date I had given. The requirements when moving out are also posted on the latch of each unit. Move out was pretty smooth and I get to keep my lock.
All in all, it was a great experience. Thank you Public Storage. If I every need a unit again, I will definitely come back.

They raise the monthly rental fees between $70-$80 a year, beware! Since I've started renting I've seen $140 increase in the last year for 10x10 rental. I will be leaving this place.

Al was such a huge help at the Joliet location! He was on time, courteous and shared how to access the facility via the app. He also walked to the units with us to ensure that they were acceptable. If you store here, you will face frequent rate increases. We just received a rate increase of 33% after four months. When we moved from a larger locker to a smaller one to save money, they assured us the rate would be stable. But there's a clause in the lease that says they can do this. So every four months, expect a signifcant rate increase. Better yet, look for another facility!
