I placed an order with OWC and tried to cancel it shortly after, but it was still shipped out. They claim to have an easy process to cancel or return items, but in reality, it is impossible to do so on their site. I returned the item unopened and expected a full refund based on their return policy. Instead, I was not refunded the shipping costs, and a restocking fee was deducted. This contradicts their policy, which clearly outlines when restocking fees apply. And this instance did not meet those criteria. When I contacted customer support, they were unhelpful and showed no interest in resolving the issue. The experience was disappointing, and I would not recommend purchasing from them unless you are absolutely certain you will not need to cancel or return anything. You are taking a financial risk just by ordering from this company.

I want to support small businesses over Amazon, but unfortunately the experience buying from Amazon is so much smoother than buying from OWC. When I buy from Amazon, most everything I buy gets to me in 1-2 days, with step-by-step tracking. I purchased a refurb 2019 MacBook Pro from OWC and they took two days to ship and it arrived in 7 days with UPS not giving me correct estimated delivery times. It did arrive though, and the laptop is pristine (other than the aftermarket charger they gave me that was beat up and the prongs were loose so would not stay plugged in).
Unfortunately, I’m going to have to go back to Amazon for my purchases from now on.

If you have porch pirates in your area, and you buy from MacSales you are wasting your money.
I purchased a hard drive upgrade for and old Mac Pro. I live in an apartment complex and have had packages stolen before. OWC locks out the shipping on their end so I was unable to redirect the package for pickup at a FedEx location. Emails and calls to their customer service and shipping operations were fruitless. I was basically told there was nothing they could do.
Of course when I got home and the package was missing.
OWC refused to refund my money and basically told me to call the police. Seriously! Like the Denver Police are going to Chase a $200 package. They barely respond to breaking and entering calls.
I have had to deal with this kind of situation before and without fail the shipper makes it right by sending another package. I have ordered from those companies again and again. I assure you that I will not do business with OWC again.

Oh man what happened to you guys! Thought you guys used to be good. I asked for affordable ipad, support send me link to 750$ worth one. And asking me to insured full amount of the item when returning by paying for shipping too. You guys tricking the customer now ai! It will take about 10 business days to get my refund back and there is no exchange ability.

Order placed: Jan. 12 2024
Shipping date estimate: Feb. 28 2024
3 months later: credit card was charged.
No email received that the order was sent.
No order status changed under my account, still indicating "This order has been received and is pending processing."
When contacting support to get a refund, their answer was: "Your order was sent 3 weeks ago and is waiting for you at a pickup place. If you want a refund, go and get the package and send it back to us. If you refuse the package, we will also deduct the return label for shipping it back to us. Please read our return policy."
Picking up the package, the paper inside indicates: "Thank you for your order with Other World Computing. A copy of your invoice has been sent to the e-mail address we have on file."
I never even received any invoice by e-mail!
Conclusion: OWC is probably one of the WORST company I've seen in years. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!

Have shopped with them several times and been very impressed, However the most recent order has been a compete mess. Conflicting emails (one says shipped and two other say out of stock), tried calling customer service twice and was on hold for more than 15 minutes each time when I finally gave up. Tried chat and first time it just took me back to support page. One email said that serial number would be provided when Item shipped. When finally got through on chat, they confirmed that item had been sent and that said I had been provided with email with the serial number (which I had not. I have checked email including spam/junk several times a day). Got a serial number but it did not work. Refused to cancel the order so I had to have the order processed as a charge back from my credit card number. What was once a reputable company has turned into a complete mess.

Bought a refurbished Macbook Pro. Repeatedly had to send it in for repairs. Even though it's still under the extended warranty, we finally gave up on it. We're buying a new laptop and doing a trade-in with the one we got from them.
The people are polite, but the item we bought from them was defective.

I purchased a MacBook Air from them in August of 2023 because my son was starting college in the fall. I purchased an extended warranty being that it was a refurbished laptop.
My son went through the first semester without any problems. Then, during his winter break between the fall semester and the spring semester, he didn’t use the computer much. While he didn’t use it, the battery drained and the computer shut down. When he tried to turn it back on when school was starting back up again, the computer wouldn’t power up. We tried charging the computer over night and it still wouldn’t start.
I logged on to their website and submitted a support ticket. About a week went by and I hadn’t heard back. I then called them and we were able to do some troubleshooting over the phone and they determined that I needed to send it in for repairs. I sent it in. They had it for a few days and then sent it back to me.
(Jan 13, 2024) - During this process, they actually sent me an email saying that they were going to close my support ticket if I didn’t respond.
(Jan 13, 2024) - I responded, letting them know that they actually had the computer and were in the process of repairing it. They had no idea that I was already getting helped and that they actually had the computer at their facility for repairs.
(Jan 15, 2024) - Jeremy M confirmed that they did have the computer and we’re working on it.
(Jan 18, 2024) - Jeremy M emailed me saying that the issue was resolved and that they’re sending computer back.
(Jan 24, 2024) - I sent them an email, letting them know that we received the computer, we tried starting it up, and it wouldn’t power up even after they repaired it.
(Jan 25, 2024) - Jeremy responded that maybe the battery was low and that we should charge it before turning it on.
(Jan 25, 2024) - I replied letting him know that I followed his instructions and charged it overnight and it still would not power up.
(Jan 26, 2024) - Jeremy M replied that we’ll probably have to send it back in for repairs again but unfortunately their system was going through upgrades and that he would not be able to set up the return until the following Monday.
(Jan 26, 2024) - I replied that my son was getting ready to start school back up and that this process was taking too long, that I might have to find another way to get this taken care of. I also asked that if the warranty I purchased included an option for a refund.
(Jan 26, 2024) - Jeremy replied that the extended warranty I purchased does not include the option for a refund, only repairs.
(Jan 26, 2024) - I replied that I was very disappointed with how they were addressing the issue. I asked what the next steps would be, and I never heard back from them since then.
I ended up finding a person that was able to fix the computer through a friend of mine locally which cost me another $250. Something that should’ve been covered by the warranty I purchased.
I will never make another purchase from them.

Product clearly stated “in stock, ships same day.” I placed an order with 2 day shipping on Tuesday and expected with 2 day delivery to receive my item by Thursday. On Thursday night I receive an email stating my item had shipped with tracking Info. I tracked the package only to find out it would arrive Monday, almost a full week after I ordered the item. But I’m leaving for a job on Sunday and needed this enclosure for this job. In the end customer service wasn’t able to do anything including sending another enclosure overnight, changing the address to have it routed to where I’d be, or generally offer any assistance or compensation for this inconvenience. Typically great customer service at OWC as I have been a customer for well over a decade but clearly this place has gone downhill.

Installed a bracket backwards and forgot to plug in a plug. These dudes are asleep doing their "refurbishments". When brought up to support they just say "thanks for letting us know" and that's it. Scam business.

A nonsense company that can’t handle customer orders, and staff that arbitrarily takes decisions on orders you already paid for in full.They send your package all the way to the destination but choose not to let you receive it just 2 hours after it has arrived. When YOU contact them for an explanation they claim that they “detected patterns” in the order placed which they don’t disclose, but lead you to understand that they didn’t trust you as customer because of contacting them from abroad or asking them to re-route a package —that required a photo Id— to be picked up in a UPS facility.The whole rerouting was not only proposed but entirely handled by OWC upon departure of the package from their warehouses, and in direct personal phone and email agreement with me. Insane!Then, and to my shocking surprise they unilaterally ordered the package to be sent back to their warehouses in Illinois, without letting me know, and then treat me like some shady subject —not without “offering” me to re-purchase an extra laptop upon the promise that the shipping will go well this time— while giving ridiculous excuses as to why the initial package was called back (it’s Christmas time, the package can get lost) just not to give me the product I actually ordered and already paid for. Insulting.Stay away from this self-entitled and bad-business practice individuals!Still waiting for a refund on a package I that I wasn’t even never allowed to touch or receive!!The supervisor promises to send email updates but he doesn’t, no solution proposed, then you are denied phone assistance with the manager who is “working closely” to “get back to you by email asap”, before they hang up on you.My package isn’t moving for longer than 24 hours since they ordered the shipment return, no updates, no emails, total lack of responsibility and customer care, after having paid a UPS Next Day Air Delivery premium shipment fare on top of it all.Worst nightmare shopping experience in my life.

How many years has it been? almost 20 or more since i got my first new Mac in many years. But having been an IT authorized Apple tech ‘back in the day’, I knew where to come for the best in Apple accessories and upgrade options. I’m so impressed at the upgrade kits you guys offer and the ease with which you help me pick the right item. You always knock it out of the park. sometimes literally. Today i’m here to get a storage solution for my Macbook Air as a way. to extend its life a bit. Thanks OWC! -Terry
