We had to put down our diabetic cat today. Our usual vet was closed so we reached out to VCA. In short they handled the entire process with ultimate compassion. They were very gentle with Murphy and allowed us some alone time prior to doing the procedure. We will get another cat down the road...can't right now as losing Murphy hurts. When we do get another cat we will use this vet for all its needs.

I have only been with vca for maybe 2 years now. And I have seen nothing but an amazing doctor that not only has compassion for the animals , but lots of knolage. My pet, baby, bestfriend, shadow Gaga has been in my life for 13 years and a few times she has gotten sick and I thought I was going to part ways and have to have her put down . But within the past few weeks her doctor had done some pretty amazing things to figure out where the issues were. Not going to go totally into detail about what was going on but she had seen another doctor that gave her 6 months to live 3 months ago and lots of medical bills and many days and nights of no sleep and crying. But her doctor D.r Heaver, listened to what I was telling her and she put all the pieces toghter and went above and beyond gave her the proper tests and went into detail. Most vets look at you as a pay check or a number. Dr. Heaver has a way with your pet that I havent seen from another vet in a long time. She has compassion and lots of answer's. We had no idea that my bestfriend was allergic to anesthesia but Dr. Heaver found out the hard way. But it didn't end the're, she saved her life she acted fast and I am truly grateful for that. Not only she saved her life but she even explained to me that it wasn't the vaccines she was allergic to it was the sedation. But besides ithat my girl has seizures and she had an episode a year ago that I thought was a seizure when Gaga fell over, in fact it wasn't Dr Heaver knows how your animal shows pain, and where it's coming from. I thought My bestfriend wasn't going to walk or not come out of it. But what really happend she ran under the table and hurt her back. After some meds and off her paws for a couple days gaga was good as new. I couldn't understand how in the world did she figure it out. She listened and asked a couple questions and examined her right infront of me. I had no idea that she licked her lips when she felt pain. I had no idea she bumped her back. I had no idea when having a seizure you fall to a certain side. I just really want to thank Dr. Heaver for not only giving me my best friend back but being an amazing D.r.

Dr. Hoage is awesome but we didn't get to see her. The one we saw didn't really check my dog. Glanced at her and went with what we said we thought was was wrong.

They have been amazing with my new puppy. They all love on her every time we go.

Do not go here! Dr. Christine Heaver killed my dog with a misdiagnosis, wrong medications, unneeded surgeries and hospitalizations that caused horrific pain and suffering, and charged me over $5000 and another $200 to cremate her! This place has a "CareClub" that is a scam, they give unnecessary vaccinations and throw meds at your dog that worsen the problem. She is an incompetent vet and should lose her license. VCA is owned by MARS and their doctors are there to sell you their products and rake in cash from unnecessary tests and procedures. Truly an evil place.

Had the audacity to ask for THREE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY ONE DOLLARS after putting down a half dead barn kitten which wasn't eating or drinking that someone dumped on us. VCA vet clinic cares more about money than the suffering of a kitten.

This place used to be the best vet in town until they went VCA. This is hands down the worst place and I will never bring my pets here again. I warned my mother not to, but she did anyway and regretted it. The staff are incredibly rude and judgmental, first off. I've worked for animal shelters, but they still treat me like I'm an idiot and neglectful. The last time I went there they almost killed my elderly cat by giving her a treatment that I did not approve and that caused her to have a nasty reaction, then they charged me almost 1k to keep her overnight while they fixed their mistake. My mother just had her cat there and they refused to give him back until she paid her bill, even though she just left her wallet 2 blocks away. Which is understandable to a degree, but they treated him like a prisoner while he was there. They knew he had separation anxiety and refused to let him go with her anyway. Her cat got so stressed out by the way they treated him that he pooped all over himself, which is not even remotely a symptom of what he came in there with. They put him in a muzzle because he was stressed, which only stressed him out more. They kept insisting that he was dangerous just because he had a low growl in his chest, like they've never seen a scared cat before. He was not being actually hostile in any way, he even let the vet stick his hands in his mouth to check his teeth and didn't bite or even struggle, so the muzzle was completely unnecessary. He doesn't even have claws (we got him like that, we do not declaw our cats), so not sure what they thought he was going to do. He didn't do anything hostile the whole time except let out that low growl, which is completely normal for a cat in a stressful situation. Dr. C knows better. He was the best vet in town (especially for cats because he's a cat lover) before, but whatever changed over there made him completely untrustworthy, too. They will do everything they can to leech as much money from you as possible, and there's a 50/50 chance they make your pet worse in the process while making you feel like a bad pet owner. I will never go back there again. Check out Animal Hospital of Woodstock instead. The people there actually like animals and people, and won't torture your pet and then blame it on you.

I took my Dog and Cat here when I first moved to Illinois and was very pleased with our experience. I was very happy with the doctor who got on the ground to make my dog feel comfortable.

Service is fine. Prices are outrageous. Charges $100 for “exam fee”. The vet took a whole 20 seconds to look over my 80lb dog. She glanced at his ears and teeth without actually looking at them, touched his side but didn’t even feel his neck or abdomen and Never took his temperature. This is the 3rd time this has happened to me. Take the time to look over these animals incase you noticed something that isn’t noticeable to the owner. Then maybe the $100 wouldn’t seem so extreme

We will have to take our animals elsewhere as prices for most services are beyond reasonable and many services are over prescribed in regards to minor surgical, dental, diagnostics, and wellness. This seems to be either due to minimize your liability to offer everything under the sun be completed or profit. I was quoted 1200 for a dental exam and endless requirements for a single cat. That's 4x what I paid at another local vet. It took 3 weeks to speak to a technician about basic lab questions I had for said cat. Certainly not impressed.

Some hiccups while transitioning and training staff in late summer, but apologies and promised improvements were definitely made. Now fall, and I'm grateful for the care and service provided to my two beloved dogs. Thank you for standing by your word and goals for excellence!

We've been taking our cats here since ~2018 (cats ranged in age from 10 week kitten to 15.5 yo) and have seen several of the doctors during that time (Dr. Carmichael, Dr. Hoag, Dr. Ulrich, Dr. Kundert). We've seen Dr. Ulrich on our most recent visits and he remembers my pets and has always been polite, friendly, and taken the time to address my concerns and offer suggestions on how to remedy behavioral issues (e.g. pulling at carpet, scratching, spraying) as well as how to best care for our geriatric cat.Every experience with the assistants/technicians has been positive. The assistant/CVT Savannah L and Savannah R are often assigned to us when we arrive and they have always been super friendly and helpful. I am always happy to see when they are assigned to us because they are fun to chat with about pets. From the people at the front desk, to Rafael, to the woman I've chatted with regarding my cats medication (I'm sorry I can't remember her name), I have had positive experiences. I'd recommend any of the doctors here and have only good things to say about our experience with the technicians.

I was very disappointed with my experience here. I brought my 7 year old cat in because I had concerns about his weight. Before seeing the doctor the tech told me I should sign up for the pet club to save money on vaccines (Ralph wasn’t even due for vaccines). I asked the doctor if he might be diabetic and she said yes, he certainly is, just look at him. She immediately came up with a pet club care plan that included a special diet (understandable) and placing a constant glucose monitor on my cat. Before even having his glucose tested, I was given the special kibble and a treatment plan that was over $800 for a years worth of care. The tech was very pushy trying to get me to agree to $70 automatic withdrawals each month. I declined and asked that they run the tests first before I agree to any of this. I paid my hefty bill and left. A few days later I had to call for the results of his testing and everything was fine, no diabetes. The vet sounded irritated that I had called before the “allotted” waiting period and had so many questions regarding my cats health. If Ralph was truly sick, I’d have no problem fronting the money. Something felt off from the moment I stepped in the door. This is clearly a corporate vet office.
